
Switch the standby-ope ate-cali switch to STANDBY. The noise f om the speake
shall cease and the mete needle shali move to the black field.
Within 10-15 seconds, the noise f om the speake shall be hea d again and the
mete needle moves to the ed field. Wait fo this cycle to epeat itself seve al
times. then switch to OPERATE.
Rotate the channel switch step by step f om Channel 4 to 15 and check that
some noise and/o signal is hea d on each channel.
Push the push-to-talk (PTT) switch and obse ve the mete needle. It shall move
into the ed field. Now whistle into the speake /mic ophone. The needle shall
move a little. The same applies while p essing and eleasing the call switch
between ope ate and call.
Repeat this check on each channel. This complétés the Checkout.
OPERATION
Extend the od antenna competely and switch the t ansceive ON by otating the
volume cont ol clockwise.
Rotate the channel switch to the desi ed channel.
Adjust the volume cont ol to a comfo table level.
P ess the PTT switch and talk with a no mal voice into the speake /mic ophone
f om a distance of 5-10 cm. Afte completing you t ansmission, e lease the
PTT switch, and the t ansceive is eady fo éception. Always emembe that
you opposite pa ty cannot hea you while he is t ansmitting.
Adjust the squelch cont ol so that the backg ound noise just disappea s du ing
non-t ansmitting pe iods of you opposite pa ty.
Fo stand-by ope ation, switch the STANDBY-OPERATE-CALLswitch to STANDBY.
Remembe that the t ansceive is 10 seconds OFF and 2 seconds ON and that
you opposite pa ty has to call fo at least 10-15 seconds so that you can
eceive the call. Call eithe by voice o by the built-in tone cail fo this du ation.
To answe the eceived call, switch to OPERATE, push the PTT switch and
talk into the speake /mic ophone.
To eceive weak signais, tu n the squelch cont ol fuily counte -clockwise so that
the ANL is switched OFF.
To switch the t ansceive OFF, tu n the volume cont ol fuily counte -clockwise
until a click is hea d and the mete needle moves into the black field.
Impo tant:
If you will not ope ate the t ansceive fo a long time, emove the batte ies
f om the equipment so that they will not co ode and damage the t ansceive .
