1-1. Cautions before Installation
The Hard Disk Drives (HDD) are installed in this unit.
The HDD is a precision part. The causes such as shock, vibration and static electricity to the unit, and the
conditions of temperature and humidity may damage HDD or its data.
Before installation, read fully the following cautions, and perform the installation with extra care.
Cautions about shock and vibration
When transporting and moving;
.Pack the unit using the packaging materials specified by the manufacturer.
.Use a proper cart.
.Put a cushion*on the cart.
.Avoid rough routes, and manage the cart gently.
When placing on a floor or table;
.Put a cushion*on stable and horizontal place, and put the unit on it gently.
.Do not place the unit near vibrating equipments.
For the unit;
.Never hit the unit by tool, and drop the tool on the unit.
Take extra care;
.Never give vibration or shock to the unit while the power is turned on, or within about 30 seconds after
turning off the power.
*Cushion: Polyethylene foam (density: 38 kg/m3, surface intrinsic resistance : 1011 to 1012 Z, thickness: 50 mm) or equivalent.
Cautions about rack mounting the unit
.Be careful not to give shock to the HDD.
Caution about static electricity
.Keep static-producing items such as plastics away from the working area.
Cautions about temperature and humidity
.Temperature and humidity of storage and operating condition must be kept within the correct specified
range.
.Never turn on the power with the cabinet is removed in consideration of the air-cooling effect.
Cautions when an error appears in a HDD
.Treat this unit conform to the above cautions, even when an error appeared.
.Keep the unit in the condition in which the error appeared, and record the details of the error.

Keep the packing materials such as carton, cushion, etc.
after unpacking.
When transporting the unit, pack the unit using the materi-
als provided.

1. Set the operating temperature and humidity
within the following conditions.
Operating Temperature : +5 dC to +40 dC
Operating humidity : 20 % to 90 %
(Condensation not allowed)
Storage temperature : _20 dC to +60 dC
2. Do not install this unit in the following
locations.
.Areas where the unit will be exposed to direct
sunlight or any other strong lights.
.Dusty areas or areas where the unit will be subject to
vibration.
.Areas with strong electric or magnetic fields.
.Areas near heat sources.
.Areas where the unit will be subjected to electrical
noise.
.Areas where the unit will be subjected to static
electricity noise.
.Unstable and unbalanced places.
3. To prevent the internal temperature from
rising, ensure air ventilation of the place
where the unit is installed.

Do not block the ventilation slots.
If the ventilation slots are blocked, overheating inside the
unit may cause fire.

.The rear side of this unit should be 50 cm away from the walls for maintenance and replacement.
.If the power is turned on with the cabinet is removed, the air-cooling effect of the fan will be greatly
reduced, damaging the HDD or its data. Avoid operating the unit with the cabinet is removed.

unit. Voltage within the range of 100 V to 240 V can be
used without changing the supply voltage.

1-5. On Slots to Which Option Boards
are Inserted
The option boards must be inserted to the different slots
depending on the application that the MAV-555 is used.
An example of the name of the boards that are inserted into
slots, and necessity of the analog expansion units is shown
below.

.The PU-109 board that is nearest to the power supply
unit is named as the slot No.1.
All the slots are named starting from the slot No.1 to the
slot No.13 in this order in the MAV-555 Installation
Manual.
.Refer to the respective Installation Manuals that are
supplied with each option board.

Install the unit in a stable location.
The unit could drop and cause physical injury if installed
in an unstable location or on a cart at an angle.

Be sure to use the specified rack mount rail.
The unit could drop and cause physical injury if installed
in any other racks than the specified one due to insufficient
strength of the rails.
This unit can be mounted in a 19-inch standard rack.
Install the units into racks in accordance with the specified
installation procedure using the specified rack rail. The
units could unexpectedly drop or the rack collapse if the
units are not installed correctly.

Mount the unit in the rack with the HDD removed from the
unit.

Attaching the inner rail in the unit
1. Turn off the power of the rack mounted unit incorpo-
rating the HDD.
2. Remove the four screws on both sides of the unit, and
remove the four foot-holder assemblies while lifting
up the unit.
3. Remove the inner rail while pressing the stopper on
the inner rail.

4. Remove the eight screws on both sides of the unit.
Attach the inner rails to the unit using the eight screws
supplied.
5. Remove the four screws on both sides of the unit.
Attach the rack angles to the unit using the four screws
supplied.

Attaching the outer rails to the rack
1. Attach the brackets to the outer rails 1with plate nuts
(long) and the screws temporarily as shown.

Attach the brackets such that the screw hole of the
outer rail 1becomes visible when the outer rail 2is
moved to the front and rear.
2. Adjust the outer rail position so that the distance
between the rack angle mounting surface and the outer
rail 1tip becomes 50 to 55 mm as shown when the
outer rail is attached to the rack. Tighten the screws
of the bracket that were temporary tightened in step 1.

3. Attach the brackets to the rack with plate nuts (short),
hexagon head cap bolts and flat washers.

Be sure to mount the unit with at least two persons to avoid
back injuries and prevent the unit from falling.

Installing the unit in the rack
1. While pressing down the stoppers of the inner rails, align
and insert the unit into the outer rails. Confirm that the
unit can be smoothly moved to the front and rear. Then
tighten securely the hexagon head cap screws that were
temporarily tightened to fix the bracket.
2. Attach the rack angles to the rack with screws and
ornamental washers.

Secure the rack angles to the rack with the screws. Other-
wise the unit may slide and fall off, resulting in injury.

1. Open the [010-525/625] display from the setup menu.
2. Press the VIDEO/MENU knob once and open the
SubMenu.
3. Turn the VIDEO/MENU knob and select “525/625”.
Press the VIDEO/MENU knob once.
4. Turn the VIDEO/MENU knob and select either “525/
60” or “625/50”, and press the VIDEO/MENU knob
once.
5. Press the VIDEO/MENU knob once and open the
SubMenu.
6. Turn the VIDEO/MENU knob and select “Execute”.
Press the VIDEO/MENU knob.
7. Turn the VIDEO/MENU knob and select “YES”.
8. Press the SET button.

1. Open the [022-ALL ERASE] display from the setup
menu.
2. Press the VIDEO/MENU knob once and open the
SubMenu.
3. Press the VIDEO/MENU knob once.
4. Turn the VIDEO/MENU knob, and select [YES].
5. Press the SET button to erase all materials in the
HDDs.

To re-start the system swiftly, execute [027-FAST
REBOOT] from the setup menu.

1. Open the [019 OPERATE CONFIG] display from the
setup menu.
2. Press the VIDEO/MENU knob once and open the
SubMenu.

PANEL : When the PANEL is selected, the
entire system can be controlled from
the control panel (BKMA-505) only.
DTR +PANEL :When the DTR +PANEL is select-
ed, the entire system can be con-
trolled from both the control panel
(BKMA-505) and a single DTR-
3000 unit.
DTR +DTR : When the DTR +DTR is selected,
the entire system can be controlled
from two DTR-3000 units.
4. Press the SET button.
5. Turn off the main power once.

To re-start the system swiftly, execute [027-FAST
REBOOT] from the setup menu.
1-9-4. Setting the Record Rate
1. Open the [035 VIDEO COMP. RATE] display from
the setup menu.
2. Press the VIDEO/MENU knob once and open the
SubMenu.
3. Turn the VIDEO/MENU knob and select the video
record rate.
4. Press the SET button.
5. Open the [028 AUDIO BIT LENGTH] display from
the setup menu.
6. Press the VIDEO/MENU knob once and open the
SubMenu.
7. Turn the VIDEO/MENU knob and select the audio
record rate.
8. Press the SET button.
9. Turn off the main power once.
