Basics
Function overview
Your STM10 is a portable stereo microphone designed to be used with Sony devices
with support for 5 pole audio and a 3.5 mm audio jack, such as Xperia™ Z2 or
Xperia™ Z2 Tablet. Use it to record high-quality stereo sound for music, interviews
or videos.

Using your microphone
Recording sound
To use the microphone, you need the STM10 Audio Recorder application which is
available on Google Play™. The recorded files are saved as WAV or MP4 files
depending on the sound quality option you have chosen. The files are saved in the
Recordings folder in the internal storage of your device. The first time you connect
the microphone, you need to activate it in sound settings, after that the device
automatically uses the microphone. But, if you use more than one five-pole audio
accessory with your device, you need to activate the microphone in settings every
time before recording.
To install the STM10 Audio Recorder application
1From the Home screen of your device, tap , find and tap Play Store.
2In Play Store, search for “STM10 Audio Recorder ” .
3Select STM10 Audio Recorder in the result list, then follow the instructions
that appear on the screen of your device to install the application.
To activate the microphone
1From the Home screen of your device, tap .
2Find and tap Settings > Sound > Audio accessories, then Select Stereo mic

Positioning the microphone
To get good stereo sound quality you must position the microphone with left and
right sides in the correct direction.
To position your microphone
1Insert the microphone into the audio jack.
2Rotate the microphone head so that and are positioned according to the
illustration.
To record stereo sound
1Make sure that the STM10 Audio Recorder application is successfully installed
on your device.
2Connect your microphone and position it correctly.
3Make sure that your microphone is activated.
4From the Home screen of your device, tap , then find and tap STM10 Audio
Recorder.
5Select one of the sound quality options, then tap Record to start recording.
6Touch and hold Stop for 3 seconds to stop recording.
To pause when recording
•Touch and hold Pause for 3 seconds to pause recording and Pause changes
to Resume, then tap Resume to resume the recording.

To play back a recording
•Tap Listen to play the recording.
To play back a saved recording
1In the STM10 Audio Recorder application, tap the RECORDINGS tab, then tap
the recording that you want to play.
2Tap to play the recording.
To share a recording
1In the STM10 Audio Recorder application, tap the RECORDINGS tab, then tap
the recording that you want to share.
2Tap , then tap the application that you want to use to share the selected
recording.
3Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the procedure.
To delete a recording
1In the STM10 Audio Recorder application, tap the RECORDINGS tab, then tap
the recording that you want to delete.
2Tap , then tap OK.
Recording sound for videos
To record sound for a video
1Connect your microphone and position it correctly.
2Make sure that your microphone is activated. When you start recording a
video, the microphone is used to record the sound.
3Activate the camera on your device, then point the camera towards the
subject.
4Tap to start recording.
5Tap to stop recording.
