WARRANTY
STEEL CITY WARRANTY
The manufacturer warrants its machines to be free from defects in workmanship and materials for a period of
2 years from the date of the original purchase for Steel City shop machines or for a period of 1 year for Titanium
production machines; subject to the following conditions :
A- Warranty applies to the original buyer only and may not be transferred. Original proof of purchase is
required.
B- Warranty is void if repairs or alterations are made to the machine by an unauthorized service center without
the direct consent of the manufacturer or its representative.
C- Warranty does not include defects, failures or breakages directly or indirectly caused by or resulting from
improper use, improper or lack of maintenance, abuse or misuse, negligence, accidents, damages in
handling or transportation, or normal wear and tear of any part or component.
D- Accessories and wear items such as motor, switch, bearings, drive belt or other accessories are covered
for 1 year.
E- Consumables such as blades, knives, bits, sandpaper or others are not covered.
To file a warranty claim, customer may contact his dealer or email service@steelcity achines.ca
The manufacturer or its representative will inspect, repair or replace any part that has proven to be defective in
workmanship or material, provided that the customer sends the product prepaid to a designated authorized
service center and provides reasonable time to proceed.
If judged on warranty, the manufacturer or its representative will return the repaired product prepaid or will replace
it by a new one at its choice. On the contrary, if it is determined that there is no defect or that the problem resulted
from causes not within the scope of the warranty, it will dispose of or return the product at customer’s expenses,
following customer’s instructions.
The manufacturer or its representative shall not be held liable for any special, indirect, incidental, punitive or
consequential damages, including and without limitation loss of profits arising from or related to the warranty,
the breach of any agreement, the operation or the use of its machines.

sanding, sawing, grinding, drilling and other
construction activities may cause serious

including silicosis (a serious lung disease),

prolonged contact with dust. The dust may contain
chemicals known to the State of California to cause
cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.
Some examples of these chemicals are:

• Crystalline silica from bricks, cement and other

lumber.
Always operate tool in well ventilated area and provide
for proper dust removal. Use a dust collection system
along with an air filtration system whenever possible.
Always use properly fitting IOSH/OSHA approved
respiratory protection appropriate for the dust exposure,
and wash exposed areas with soap and water.

and specific safety procedures needed in an industrial environment.

4. Prevent electrical shock. Follow all electrical and safety
codes, including the ational Electrical Code ( EC) and
the Occupational Safety and Health Regulations
(OSHA). All electrical connections and wiring should be
made by qualified personnel only.
5. ALWAYS be sure that the power switch is in the “OFF”
position and unplug the machine from the electrical
receptacle when making adjustments, changing parts or
performing any maintenance.
6. AVOID ACCIDENTAL STARTING. Make sure that the
power switch is in the “OFF” position before plugging in
the power cord to the electrical receptacle.
7. NEVER leave a machine running, unattended. Turn the
power switch to the OFF position. DO NOT leave the
machine until it has come to a complete stop.
8. THE USE of extension cords is not recommended for
220V equipment. It is better to position your equipment
and install the wiring to eliminate the need for an extension
cord. If an extension cord is necessary, refer to the chart
in the Grounding Instructions section to determine the
minimum gauge for the extension cord. The extension
cord must also contain a ground wire and plug pin.
9. DO NOT pull a machine by the power cord. NEVER
allow the power cord to come in contact with sharp
edges, hot surfaces, oil or grease.
10. DO NOT unplug a machine by pulling on the power
cord. ALWAYS grasp the plug, not the cord.
11. REPLACE a damaged cord immediately. DO NOT use
a damaged cord or plug if the machine is not operating
properly, or has been damaged, left outdoors or has
been in contact with water.
12. NEVER remove any chips without turning off the
machine and disconnecting the power.
13. NEVER turn on the machine if the workpiece is in
contact with the blade.
14. ENSURE that the machine sits firmly on the floor before
using. If the machine wobbles or is unstable, correct the
problem by using shims or blocks prior to operation.
15. ALWAYS keep hands and fingers away from the blades
when operating.
16. DO NOT USE the machine to perform an operation for
which it was not designed. It will be safer and provide
high quality job by only performing operations for which
the machine was intended.
17. Every work area is different. Always consider safety first,
as it applies to your work area. Use this machine with
caution. Failure to do so could result in serious personal
injury and damage to the machine.
18. DO NOT stand on a machine. Serious injury could result
if it tips over or you accidentally contact any moving part.
19. DO NOT store anything above or near the machine.

21. AINTAIN your balance. DO NOT extend yourself over
the tool. Wear oil resistant rubber soled shoes. Keep

23. AINTAIN all machines with care. ALWAYS KEEP
the machine clean and in good working order. KEEP all
blades and tool bits sharp and free of all rust and pitch.
24. EACH AND EVERY time, check for damaged parts prior
to using any machine. Carefully check all guards to see
that they operate properly, are not damaged, and
perform their intended functions. Check for alignment,
binding or breakage of all moving parts. Any guard or
other part that is damaged should be immediately
repaired or replaced. Check material for loose knots.
25. Safety decals are on this machine to warn and direct
you to how to protect yourself or visitors from personal
injury. These decals UST be maintained so that they
are legible. REPLACE decals that are not legible.
26. KEEP protective guards in place and in working order.
27. Check material for loose knots, nails and other defects.
28. ALWAYS keep the work area clean, well lit, and
organized. DO NOT work in an area that has slippery
surfaces. Keep floor clear of debris, grease, and wax.
29. SECURE all work. When it is possible, use clamps or
jigs to secure the workpiece. This is safer than
attempting to hold the workpiece with your hands.
30. STAY ALERT, watch what you are doing, and use
common sense when operating any machine. DO NOT
operate any machine tool while tired or under the
influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A moment of
inattention while operating power tools may result in
serious personal injury.
31. USE ONLY recommended accessories. Use of incorrect
or improper accessories could cause serious injury to
the operator and cause damage to the machine. If in
doubt, DO NOT use it.
32. Wear proper clothing, DO NOT wear loose clothing,
gloves, neckties, or jewelry. These items can get caught
in the machine during operations and pull the operator
into the moving parts. Users must wear a protective
cover on their hair, if the hair is long, to prevent it from
contacting any moving parts.
33. Keep visitors and children away from any machine.
DO NOT permit people to be in the immediate work
area, especially when the machine is operating.
34. DO NOT use a machine as a toy.
35. DO NOT use electrical tools in the presence of
flammable liquids or gasses.
36. SAVE these instructions and refer to them frequently
and use them to instruct other users.
37. Establish a SAFETY ZONE around shop machinery.
A clearly defined “no-go” zone on the floor around each
machine. Take a few moments to either paint (using
non-slip paint) or using tape, define on the floor the limits
or perimeter of each machines safety zone.

PRODUCT SAFETY
1. Do not try to drill a workpiece that is too small to be
securely held to the table or in a vise.
2. Make sure there are no foreign objects, nails, stones in
the workpiece.
3. ever start the drill press with the drill bit, cutting tool or
sanding drum against the workpiece. Loss of control of
the workpiece can cause serious injury.
4. Properly support long or wide workpiece. Secure the
workpiece firmly against the table. Prevent the
workpiece from rotating by clamping it to the table or by
securing it against the drill press column. Loss of control
of workpiece can cause serious injury.
5. Securely lock the head and table to the column, and the
table to the table support before operating the drill press.
6. Secure the drill press to the work bench or to the floor
so it does not slide, move or tip over. Do not attach to a
mobile base.

In the event of a malfunction or breakdown, GROUNDING
provides the path of least resistance for electric current and
reduces the risk of electric shock. The plug UST be
plugged into a matching electrical receptacle that is
properly installed and grounded in accordance with ALL
local codes and ordinances.
If a plug is provided with your machine DO NOT modify the
plug. If it will not fit your electrical receptacle, have a
qualified electrician install the proper connections to meet
all electrical codes. All connections must also adhere to all
of OSHA mandates.
I PROPER ELECTRICAL CONNECTION of the
equipment-grounding conductor can result in risk of electric
shock. The conductor with the green insulation (with or
without yellow stripes) is the equipment-grounding
conductor.
DO NOT connect the equipment-grounding conductor to a
live terminal if repair or replacement of the electric cord or
plug is necessary.
Check with a qualified electrician or service personnel if you
do not completely understand the grounding instructions,
or if you are not sure the tool is properly grounded.

◊ EXTENSION CORDS

AKE SURE the circuit breaker does not
exceed the rating of the plug and
receptacle.

To reduce the risk of fire or electrical
shock, use the proper gauge of extension
cord. When using an extension cord, be
sure to use one heavy enough to carry the
current your machine will draw.

The smaller the gauge-number, the larger the diameter of
the extension cord is. If in doubt of the proper size of an
extension cord, use a shorter and thicker cord. An
undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage resulting
in a loss of power and overheating.
WARNING
!
If you are using an extension cord outdoors, be sure it is
marked with the suffix “W-A” (“W” in Canada) to indicate
that it is acceptable for outdoor use.
Make certain the extension cord is properly sized, and in
good electrical condition. Always replace a worn or
damaged extension cord immediately or have it repaired by
a qualified person before using it.
Protect your extension cords from children, sharp objects,
excessive heat, and damp or wet areas.
USE ONLY a 3-wire extension cord that has
a 3-prong grounding plug and a 3-pole
receptacle that accepts the machine’s
plug.The third prong is used to ground the
tool and provide protection against
accidental electric shock. DO NOT remove the third.
◊ AGNETIC SAFETY SWITCH
If the machine is equipped with a magnetic safety switch
you must to reset the overload protection switch after an
overload.

DEGREASING
In order to prevent any corrosion during transport, an
antirust has been applied. Above all, greasy surfaces
should be wiped clean and cleaned with a clean cloth and
degreaser. Refer to the safety instructions for this type of
product. Do not use solvents such as acetone or lacquer
thinner, painted surfaces will suffer.
ote: any greasy substance can cause adhesion problems
when applying finishing products.
Unpack the machine carefully and make an inventory of the
hardware and accessories in the packaging, referring to the
list below.
Be aware of missing or damaged parts to inform your
supplier as soon as possible.

◊ ATTACH THE COLU N TO THE BASE
Place the base on a flat level and stable surface and
bolt the column using the 4 hex bolts and washers.
◊ ATTACH THE TABLE BRACKET TO
THE COLU N
•Remove the rack ring from the column.
•Remove the rack, insert it into the table bracket so it
matches the pinion inside the bracket.
•Slide the rack and bracket onto the column; the bottom
lip of the rack is pressed between the column and the
flange on the base. The top lip of the rack is secured
with the replacement of the rack ring.
•Tighten the set screw in the rack ring.
◊ SECURE THE TABLE ONTO THE
TABLE BRACKET
Attach the table handle on the worm gear and tighten
the set screw.
Install the table on the table bracket and tighten the lock
handle.
ASSE BLY

◊ INSTALL THE HEAD
Install the head on the column and secure it by mean
of the set screws.
WARNING
!
It can be difficult to install the head by one
person. Get assistance.
◊ INSTALL THE 3 HAND WHEEL
SPOKES TO THE HUB
Install the 3 feed hands to the handle body.
◊ INSTALL THE CHUCK
Before chuck and spindle installation, make certain that
the spindle taper and the tapered hole in the chuck are
clean and free of grease, lacquer or any contaminant.
Open the chuck jaws completely. Make sure the jaws
are completely recessed inside the chuck.
Seat the chuck onto the spindle as far as it will go by
placing a wooden block under the chuck and tap the
block up with a hammer.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT TAP the chuck directly with a
etal ha er.

◊ INSTALL THE BELT COVER KNOB
Remove the bolt holding the cover in place and use it
to attach the cover knob to the cover.
◊ INSTALL THE CHUCK GUARD
Loosen the screw, slide the guard onto the quill and
tighten the screw to secure the guard in place.
Note: to facilitate drill bit installation and removal, flip
the guard up to keep it out of the way.

To prevent the risk of injuries, always cover the
chuck and drill bit with the chuck guard while
using.
◊ PLACE THE CHUCK KEY IN ITS
HOLDER
◊ FASTENING THE DRILL PRESS
To prevent the drill press from tipping, sliding, or
walking, it should be fastened to the workbench / to the
floor surface. The machine base has holes for fastening
to the surface.

◊ RE OVING THE CHUCK AND
SPINDLE
A wedge is included with the machine, to help in
removing the chuck and spindle if required.
emove drill bit from the chuck.
Using a spindle handle, lower the quill until a slot is
exposed on the side of the quill.
otate the chuck and spindle assembly by hand until
the two holes in the side of the quill and the spindle
align. You will see through when aligned.
Insert the tapered end of the wedge in the hole (A), with
the flat part towards the top, and allow the quill to rise.
The wedge will be trapped.
Using a mallet, tap on the wedge with one hand and
hold the chuck with the other hand.

out of the quill. Be prepared to catch them.

◊ ADJUSTING TABLE HEIGHT
Loosen the column lock handle (1).
Turn the crank handle (2) to the desired table height.
Tighten the column lock handle (1) before using.
NOTE: Always raise (rather than lower) the table to
the final position to allow the gears to esh and
prevent slippage.
◊ ADJUSTING TABLE SWING
Loosen column lock handle (1).
Swing the table support bracket and table to the desired
position.
Tighten the column lock handle (1) before using.
When working with tall workpiece, you might want to
swing the table out of the way so you can use the base
as a table.
NOTE: When swinging the table, go slowly and
make sure the rack also pivots freely around the
column or you will damage the rack.

◊ ADJUSTING TABLE ROTATION
Loosen the table lock handle (3).
otate the table to the desired position.
Tighten the table lock handle (3) before using.
◊ ADJUSTING TABLE TILT
Loosen the pivot bolt (4) and the set screw (5).
Tilt the table to the desired position.
Tighten the pivot bolt (4) and the set screw (5).
A tilt scale (6) is mounted on the table bracket to indicate
the degree of tilt. A witness line (7) is mounted on the
table to align with the tilt scale.
◊ ADJUSTING DEPTH STOP
Set bottom edge of nut (A) even with the desired depth
setting on the threaded rod. Tighten the nut (B) against
nut (A) to secure it in position. Depth stop is now set
and will provide repetitive drilling of equal depth.

Open the belt cover (F).
Loosen the tension lock knobs (G), one on each side of
the head assembly.
otate the belt tension handle (H) forward, to bring
motor base close to the head assembly.
Position both belts on selected pulleys according to the
drill speed chart (I).
Check the chart and find the speed you want.
Note which belt is shown lower. Put that belt on first.
Watch your fingers, it is easy to get pinched !
otate the belt tension handle (H) back, towards the
motor to apply tension on the belts.
The belt should be tight enough to prevent slipping.
Hold tension and tighten both tension lock knobs (G).
NOTE: Excessive tension will reduce the life of the belt,
pulleys and bearings. Correct tension is obtained when
the belt can be flexed about ¾’’ out of line midway
between the pulleys using light finger pressure.
Close belt cover, plug in and test PM before drilling.
◊ ADJUSTING RETURN SPRING
The drill chuck will automatically return slowly to its
original position when pressure on the feed handle is
released.
The return spring is adjusted at the factory.
If further adjustment is required:
Loosen nut (C) but make sure that the spring housing
(D) remains engaged with the head casting tab (E).
While firmly holding the spring housing (D), pull the
spring housing out and rotate it (counter-clockwise to
increase or clockwise to decrease the spring tension)
until the tab (E) is engaged with the next notch on the
spring housing.
IM ORTANT: Because the return spring is under
tension, it will want to unwind (clockwise). Make
sure you have a firm grip on the spring housing
before pulling it out.
Tighten the nut (C) until it barely contacts the spring
housing.
IM ORTANT: The nut should not fully contact the
spring housing when tightened, spring must be free
to rotate inside the housing.
◊ CHANGING SPEEDS
Unplug the machine from power source.

to position. Failure to do will break the spring.
