INSTALLATION:
• Carefully unpack the DV ReFace Screen.
• Remove protective plastic film from polished metal overlay or trim if so equipped.
• Remove operating screens or screen doors from the DV ReFace Screen, if so
equipped, to prevent damage to the screens and to the DV ReFace finish.
○Set the screens aside in a safe place.
NOTE: Not all DV ReFace Screens have removable screens. Do not try to remove
fixed screens.
• Remove the louvers from the DV ReFace Screen, if so equipped, by gently pushing
on the louvers from the back of the frame. Use care not to drop the louvers.
○Set the louvers aside in a safe place.
• Align the DV ReFace Screen with the bottom of the DV-Gas Fireplace. Note where
the DV ReFace frame lines up with the DV-Fireplace frame. (Figure 1)
• Align the Rare Earth Magnets on the back of DV ReFace Screen frame. Place the
magnets where they will fully contact the DV-Fireplace frame. (Figure 2)
O Handle the magnets carefully!
They are very strong and can easily pinch fingers.
NOTE: The Magnets must make full contact with the metal DV-Fireplace frame and
the DV ReFace Screen must lay perfectly flat against the fireplace frame.
NOTE: The DV-Fireplace frame must be clean and free from dirt, oil, plaster, grout,
or any other contaminant. The DV ReFace Screen could come loose from the fire-
place if the mounting surface is not properly and thoroughly cleaned.
• Carefully install the DV ReFace Screen on the DV-Fireplace. (Figure 3)
O CAUTION: Keep fingers from between DV ReFace and the DV-Fireplace.
• Check that the DV ReFace Screen is aligned flat, plumb, and square.
• Replace the louver (s) in the DV ReFace Screen if so equipped.
• Replace the screen or screen doors in the DV ReFace if so equipped.
NOTE: Failure to align the DV ReFace Screen properly may result in damage di-

O CAUTION: Do not use your Direct Vent Gas Fireplace with a DV ReFace Screen
installed until you read and completely understand the Installation & Operating Instruc-
tions that follow. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your Stoll
Dealer or Stoll Industries before proceeding.
GENERAL SAFEGUARDS:
• Excessive heat can cause damage to the DV ReFace Screen. A continuous gas
fire in the Direct Vent Gas Fireplace may cause discoloration or more serious
damage to the DV ReFace finishes. If discoloration of the finish is noticed con-
tact you Stoll dealer for advice. This type of damage, caused by over-heating, is
considered abuse and is not covered by warranty.
OPERATION:
• Stoll DV ReFace Screens come in a wide variety of configurations; from classic
freestanding screen styles to many more elaborate designs and configurations.
They differ primarily in how the operator gains access to the Direct Vent Fireplace
controls. Most, if not all, Direct Vent Fireplaces are controlled by a thermostat
that turns the gas fire on and off according to room temperature. Access to the
fireplace controls is not necessary under most circumstances. The DV Reface
Screen remains in place until maintenance or cleaning is needed.
• To access the DV-Fireplace controls when a freestanding style DV ReFace
Screen (Figure 4) is installed it will be necessary to remove the entire screen and
set it aside. Since the screen is self-supporting on legs, it may need only two
magnets at the top to secure it to the DV-Fireplace making removal easier. If the
fireplace blower should cause a rattle or vibration, install the remaining magnets.
• The Artisan style DV ReFace Screen (Figure 5) lifts off easily, leaving the frame
attached to the DV-Fireplace. Use all four magnets to keep the frame secure.
• DV Reface Screens equipped with operating doors (Figure 6) allow access to the
DV-Fireplace louvers and controls by simply opening the doors. The screen
doors can easily be removed and set aside if necessary. Use all four magnets to
keep the frame secure.
• The Craftsman style DV ReFace screen (Figure 7) is heavier than some other
styles. The Craftsman style screen pictured was ordered with a one-piece door
that opens in one direction rather than the typical two door configuration. Such a
door is heavier than most and might need additional magnets at the top to keep
the frame secure to the DV-Fireplace. If any DV ReFace Screen shows signs
that it is not secure to the DV-Fireplace contact your Stoll dealer immediately.
MAINTENANCE:
O CAUTION: The DV ReFace Screen and the Direct Vent Gas Fireplace must be at
room temperature before cleaning. The DV-Fireplace could come on at any time
should the thermostat call for heat. Turn the thermostat temperature down or off to
prevent the DV-Fireplace from coming on unexpectedly during maintenance.
• Inspect the convection louvers and/or screens for any build-up of household dust
on a regular basis. Household dust, pet hair, and the like will be drawn to the
screen by the blower built into the DV-Fireplace. Clean the louvers and/or
screens immediately if any build-up is evident. A standard soft brush attachment
on a vacuum cleaner is recommended.
O IMPORTANT: Failure to keep the louvers and/or screens clean can impede the air
flow through the convection chambers of the DV-Fireplace, reducing the overall heating
efficiency, and could cause dangerous overheating.
• Stoll uses high quality, heat resistant Powder Coat and solid polished metal fin-
ishes on DV ReFace Screens. These types of finish requires only an occasional
wipe with a damp cloth to maintain the factory finish. A mild household cleaner
may be used if necessary. Do not use cleaners that contain ammonia. Do not
use harsh, strong, or abrasive cleaners. Do not use metal polish.

A WORD ABOUT ENERGY:
Keep your glass doors closed when the fire is out.
Fireplaces are designed to draw air and smoke up the chimney. Even when the fire is cold the warm air created by your
heating system is going up the flue. It is equivalent to having a one square foot hole in your roof. Closing the fireplace
damper helps, but most dampers do not close tightly. Closing the glass doors is like closing your storm door.
If you have vented gas logs installed the fireplace damper is fixed open at all times. Closing the glass doors in your fire-
place enclosure will close off 99% of the fireplace opening and help stop the loss of heated room air up the chimney.
In some cases the chimney flow reverses and cold air is pulled down the chimney. This is quite common in well insulat-
ed homes. Turning on the kitchen vent hood or a clothes dryer pulls cold air in through the fireplace. Glass doors help
stop the cold drafts. For more serious down-drafting Stoll makes Air-Seal doors that are gasketed for a better seal.
So keep those glass doors closed any time you are not enjoying a warm fire on your hearth.
