ESR-Auto Plus®RAM Reset Procedure
For Model 504-V9,V10 and Model 505-V3

Note: Performing a RAM reset will clear all existing patient and QC data. If possible, print the
patient log file and QC data before proceeding with a RAM reset.
1. Unplug the instrument (Model 504) or power off the instrument using the ON/OFF switch (Model 505)
and wait at least 5 seconds. While holding down the red ‘X’button on the instrument keypad, plug in
or power on the instrument. The following instrument display readings may differ slightly, depending
on the software version.
2. Instrument reads: “Setup, Reset System?”
Release the red ‘X’button and press the green ‘’button.
3. Instrument reads: “Reset All to Default! Sure?”
Press the green ‘’button.
4. Instrument reads: “RAM Cleared Restart System.”
Unplug or turn off the instrument and wait at least 5 seconds.
Plug in or turn on the instrument without holding the red ‘X’button.
5. Instrument reads: The software version will display, followed by “New Software, [OK] for Setup?”
Press the green ‘’button.
6. Instrument reads: “Motor Setup, Please Wait...”
The instrument will cycle and print out the system settings.
This step may take a couple of minutes.
7. Instrument reads: “IR Auto Set, Remove Tubes [OK]”
Remove all tubes/test rack and press the green ‘’button.
8. Instrument reads: “Calibrating…”
The instrument will print some settings.
9. Instrument reads: “RAM Now Reset to Default. [OK]”
Press the green ‘’button.
10. Instrument reads: “Setup User Config?”
Press the green ‘’button.
11. Instrument reads: “Set Date & Time?”
Press the green ‘’button. Default date format is YY-MM-DD.
Press the green ‘’button to accept the date information on the display.
Press the red ‘X’button to change the date.
Press the green ‘’button to advance to the time menu.
Press the green ‘’button to accept the time information on the display.
Press the red ‘X’button to change the time.
Press the green ‘’button to advance to the next prompt.
12. Instrument reads: “Set ESR Method?”
Press the green ‘’button.
13. Instrument reads: “Set Tube Type?”
Press the green ‘’button.

14. Instrument reads: “1.2ml (PAED)?”
The available tube settings are “1.2ml” only, “2.0ml” only or “Both 1.2ml & 2.0ml”.
Press the red ‘X’button to scroll through the available options.
Press the green ‘’button to accept the desired tube type.
15. Instrument reads: “Set Calibr.?”
Press the green ‘’button.
If the instrument reads “+0%”, press the green ‘’button.
If not, press the red ‘X’button, enter “0” and press the green ‘’button.
16. Instrument reads: “Set Meas. Time?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
17. Instrument reads: “Audible Alarm” (Model 505 only)
Press the green ‘’button to access this feature.
Press the green ‘’button to enable the audible alarm.
18. Instrument reads: “Set Printouts?”
Press the green ‘’button.
19. Instrument reads: “Auto Print?”
Press the green ‘’button.
20. Instrument reads: “Ticket Style?”
Patient results can print in either ticket style or log style.
For ticket style, press the green ‘’button.
For log style, press the red ‘X’button.
NOTE: If the instrument is interfaced with an LIS, the print style selected
should match the data output format written in the LIS interface.
21. Instrument reads: “Config Ports?”
Press the green ‘’button.
22. Instrument reads: “Int Prn On?”
Press the green ‘’button.
23. Instrument reads: “Com 1 On?”
Press the green ‘’button.
24. Instrument reads: “Com 2 On?”
Press the green ‘’button.
25. Instrument reads: “Main Printer, Int. Prn?”
Press the green ‘’button.
26. Instrument reads: “Print Setup?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
27. Instrument reads: “Set Access Code?”
Press the red ‘X’button.

28. Instrument reads: “See Sys Info?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
29. Instrument reads: “Service Menu?”
Press the green ‘’button.
30. Instrument reads: “Restricted Entry, Give Code.”
Enter “48” and press the green ‘’button.
31. Instrument reads: “Set Language?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
32. Instrument reads: “Date Style?”
Press the green ‘’button.
Press the red ‘X’button to scroll through the time and date formats.
Press the green ‘’button to accept the preferred format.
33. Instrument reads: “Code USR Config?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
34. Instrument reads: “Set IR Power?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
35. Instrument reads: “LCD Contrast?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
36. Instrument reads: “Set Alarms?”
Press the green ‘’button.
37. Instrument reads: “Over Fill”
If the instrument reads “690”, press the green ‘’button.
If not, press the red ‘X’button, enter “690” and press the green ‘’button.
38. Instrument reads: “1.2 ml Low Fill”
If the instrument reads “510”, press the green ‘’button.
If not, press the red ‘X’button, enter “510” and press the green ‘’button.
39. Instrument reads: “No Fill”
If the instrument reads “200”, press the green ‘’button.
If not, press the red ‘X’button, enter “200” and press the green ‘’button.
40. Instrument reads: “Report Range Max”
If the instrument reads “120,” press the green ‘’button.
If not, press the red ‘X’button, enter “120” and press the green ‘’button.
41. Instrument reads: “Motor Settings?”
Press the red ‘X’button.

42. Instrument reads: “Printouts?”
If instrument is not connected to the LIS, press the red ‘X’button.
When transmitting data to an LIS, press the green ‘’button. (The most
common LIS printer settings: “Int Prn Type” = 1; “Main Port” = 3; “Enabled Ports”
= 7.)
43. Instrument reads: “Set Prediction?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
44. Instrument reads: “Reg Test Rack?”
Press the green ‘’button.
45. Instrument reads: “New Test Rack, Sure?”
Press the green ‘’button.
46. Instrument reads: “Insert Rack [OK]”
Insert the test rack and press the green ‘’button.
The instrument will scan the rack twice and print the results.
47. Instrument reads: “Set Thermometer?”
Press the green ‘’button.
48. Instrument reads: “Compensation On?”
Press the green ‘’button.
49. Instrument reads: “Celsius:___”
Press the green ‘’button.
NOTE: This setting is the internal working temperature of the instrument.
The temperature sensor reading will flash on the screen temporarily.
50. Instrument reads: “Test Mode On?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
51. Instrument reads: “Reading Test?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
52. Instrument reads: “Power Test?”
Press the red ‘X’button.
53. Instrument reads: “Initiating Motor…”
This step may take a couple of minutes.
54. Instrument reads: “Next Sample.”
The instrument is now ready for sample analysis.
