INTRODUCTION
Please read andunderstand thisowner’smanual before
installing your H10/12/14Pwinch.Your H10/12/14P
winchisavery powerfulmachine. If usedunsafelyor
improperly,there isapossibility thatproperty damage or
personal injury can result. Wehaveincluded several
unique features inthe H10/12/14P winch to minimize this
possibility; however, your safety ultimatelydependson
your cautionwhen using theproduct.
Pay particularattention tothe caution notes preceded
with thesymbol shownhere.Thenotescontain advice
foryour protection.
Correct installation of your H10/12/14Pwinch isa
requirementfor properoperation.
Please Note: TheSuperwinch model H10/12/14P winch
is designed for total reliability during vehicle recovery
operations.Thiswinch is notdesigned tobe used in
hoisting applications andSuperwinchdoes notwarrant it
tobesuitablefor such use.

POISONOUS SUBSTANCES
Many liquidsand other substances used should underno
circumstances be consumed, and shouldbe kept away
fromopenwounds.Thesesubstancesinclude (among
others) hydraulic oil.
SYNTHETIC RUBBER
Many ‘O’ring seals,flexiblepipes andsimilaritems,
when subjected tofire or heat can becomehighly
corrosive. Handlewithseamlessindustrialgloves only.
Should skin contactoccur, remove contaminated clothing
immediatelyandobtainmedical assistance withoutdelay.
Meanwhile, wash the affected areawithcopious amounts
of coldwateror limewater for 15 to 60 minutes.
RECYCLING AND THEENVIRONMENT
Itis illegal todisposeofused oilin the ground,down
sewers or drains orinto waterways.
Disposeof usedoil through authorised waste disposal
contractors.Ifin doubtcontactyour local Authorityfor
adviceondisposal facilities.

Recovery”. Please readandunderstandthishandbook
before using your Superwinch and it’s accessories. Ithas
been suppliedwithyourwinch to encouragesafe
operation-ifusedunsafelyorimproperly, there is a
possibility thatpropertydamageor personalinjurycan
result, since your safety ultimatelydependson your
cautionwhenusing these products.

INSTALLATION
IMPORTANT
:Itis vital that all hose lengths are kepttoaminimum.Pressure andflow loss is increased as hose
lengthincreasesand/or bore sizedecreases.Pressure and returnlines inexcess of3.5metresshouldbe
compensated withan increaseinboresize.
As a general rule:
Bigger Nominal Bore Hose =Better Winch Performance.In all installation work on ahydraulic system,cleanliness and
accuracy ar essentialso thatthe hydraulic system functions properly.

MOUNTING
Figs.3 & 4 show the mounting dimensions for the SuperwinchH10/12/14P.
Because oftheratingof these winches,itis importantthatthe mountings aresecure. M12 x1.5pitch 8.8GradeHigh
Tensile Steel bolts mustbe usedin order to sustain theloads imposed on the winch mounting. Remember that the
winch is only as strong as it’s mountings.
All eight mountholes shouldbe used. Use onlythe threaded holes provided, Do notdrilland tap new hole(s). Do not
weldthewinch or any parts of the winch.Aftermounting andtighteningallmounting bolts,place the winch in freespool
and checkthedrumrotation.Thedrumon anincorrectlymountedwinchmaybindcausingpoorfreespoolingand
decreased winch performance. Ifthedrumdoes bind loosenall mountingbolts.Ifthedrumnowrotates freely,tighten
the boltsa bitata time, checking thee drum rotationuntil the winchis securely fastened.If the drum continuestobind it
is probablethat one ormore ofthemountingsystem’sholes is out ofposition and requirescorrection.
Precautions for footdown mounting.
1. The plate to which the winch is fastened must be 6mm thickmin. steel.
2. Allfour mounting holes in thebottom of each supportcasting must beusedto mountthe winch.
Precautions for rail mounting.
1. The angleironusedfor the rails mustbe 50mmx 50mm x 6mm orlarger.
2. Allfour mounting holes (2 ineach sideof thecasting) must beused.

ROPE INSTALLATION
Theropemustbe of good quality, havea steelcore andmeet the following specification :
1. Unwindtherope by rollingit out alongtheground with thetapered endnearest to thewinch.NEVER wind the rope
straightonto thedrum from a coil.
2. Dis-engage theFreespool.
3. Insertthe taperedend oftheropeinto the cross-holeinthe end of the drum andsecure by tightening thesetscrew.
4.Re-engage the Freespool.
5. Carefullyrun the winch inthe"Winch In" direction. Keepingtension onthe ropespool 5or 6wraps of ropeneatly
onto the drum.
6.Applymoderatetension (approx.700 kg to therope.Carefully runthe winch in the"Winch In" direction.Ensure the
layers are neatlywrapped ontothe drum.Thiswill minimize damage to the lower layers of rope when a load is applied.
PULLING OUTTHE ROPE
Disengage the Freespool. Withapair of gloveson,pull outthe ropeand secure to anchor or load,check that there are
at least5 turns lefton theDrum. Re-engage the Freespool.
