CatX AVP transmitters
CatX AVP transmitters provide a cost effective and flexible solution for transmitting either
Audio+Video (AV) or Video+Power (VP) over a single Cat5/6 UTP cable up to 300m.
CatX AVP transmitters can be cascaded together to provide required number of outputs. Designed
for reliability and low power consumption, with less than 0.2W per output.
CatX AVP transmitters are Video compatible with all CatX AVP Receivers, CatX AVP Repeaters and
CatX Mini Receivers.
Selecting AV (Audio + Video) or VP (Video + Power) modes
CatX AVP units can be configured to transmit Audio+VGA video (AV) up to 300m or VGA Video+Power
(VP) up to 150m over Cat5/6 UTP cable.
Use the mode select switch on the front of the CatX AVP Tx2 transmitter to select either AV or VP
mode for both outputs.
Use the switches on the rear of the CatX AVP Tx4 and CatX AVP Tx8 units to select either AV or VP
mode for each bank of four outputs as indicated in the following table:

Connecting the VGA Source to the Transmitter
Using the VGA male/female cable supplied, connect the AVP transmitter unit (VGA IN) to the VGA
source (PC or player). A local monitor can be attached to the VGA OUT of the AVP transmitter.
Transmitter Power Options
CatX AVP Tx2 transmitter unit can be powered directly from any DDC2B compliant VGA output. In VP
mode, the CatX AVP Tx2 can also power two CatX Mini VP Rx units.
The CatX AVP Tx4 must be powered by either a USB power take-off lead, or an external 5V PSU.
The CatX AVP Tx8 transmitter must be powered from an external 5V PSU.
Please Note: If at least 1 bank (4 outputs) of a CatX AVP Tx8 unit is set to AV mode, then it is possible
to power the Tx8 transmitter using a USB power lead.

Audio (AV mode only)
A stereo audio source may also be connected to the transmitter unit, together with a local output.
Audio will be transmitted to the receivers from ports selected for AV mode.
Connection of CatX units to Cat5/6 UTP cable
Before connecting any Cat5/6 UTP cable to the outputs of your AVP transmitter unit, please refer to
the ‘UTP cable Termination’ section of this manual.
Cascade Option
The VGA output as well as the Audio ouput of these transmitters can be connected to the VGA &
Audio inputs of the the next transmitter. In this way upto 8 transmitters can be cascaded together,
providing RJ45 UTP outputs from 2 ports to 64 ports.
Rack Mount Option
CatX AVP transmitters may be rack mounted (2 per unit) or wall mounted for convenience. There are
two options; a standard kit for Tx2 transmitters or a wide kit for Tx4/8 transmitters.

Incorrect cable termination or connection to other networks may damage CatX units. The UTP cable
must be correctly terminated (T568B specification) at both ends, as shown below:
DO NOT connect CatX units to any other network (Data or Voice).
DO NOT connect CatX units using a crossover patch cable.
