The User Interface
User Interface - Web Interface
When we talk about the user interface in this manual, we always mean the interface of the Target F501 itself, with the four
hardware buttons and the 800 x 480 pixel color display as opposed to the web interface, which is displayed in a browser on a
connected computer.
Routine Mode
The user interface has no restricted areas, every screen and menu on the instrument is accessible for every operator and
represents as such the routine mode of the Target F501.
Expert Mode
If you need to make more extensive changes to the instrument, access the nuclide library, or download N42.42 files from the
Target F501, you will need to connect a computer and switch to the web interface. See chapter: Web Interface
In addition to generally accessible pages, there is a password-protected area that contains the sensitive setting parameters
that should only be changed by experts.
Screens and Pages
To be able to distinguish the sections in this manual, we talk about screens when we describe the different modes of the
user interface as opposed to pages when we describe the different web pages of the web interface.
Every screen of the user interface is vertically divided into three main parts:
1.
On top: the status bar
2.
In the middle: the main content of the different screens
3.
At the bottom: the button bar
The Status Bar
The status bar shows all status information of the current status of the Target F501.
1. The title of the current screen.
2. The time of the instrument.
3. A set of icons, that indicate the status of:
Gamma and Neutron Alarms
Active Gamma Alarm
Active Neutron Alarm
Active Gamma and Neutron Alarm
X-Ray Filter
Some variants of the Target F501 are equipped with software that can filter an active X-ray beam and ensure valid
measurements and identifications in an environment where the sample is being X-rayed.
X-ray filter is switched on but no x-ray beam was detected
X-ray filter has detected an x-ray beam and is scanning the frequency
X-ray filtering is active
