Safety Warnings
Read this anual carefully and co pletely before installing and using the TECNOWARE ECO
STRIP Uninterruptible Power Supply, which, fro here after, will also be referred to as UPS.
This anual should be kept close to the UPS and read before the UPS is installed and used.
The UPS ust be used only by properly trained personnel. To ensure correct and safe
operations, it is necessary that operators and aintenance personnel observe the general
safety Standards as well as the specific instructions included in this anual.
Risk of electric shock: do not re ove the cover. The UPS contains internal parts, which are at a
high Voltage and are potentially dangerous, capable of causing injury or death by electric
shock.
There are no internal parts in the UPS, which are user serviceable. Any repair or aintenance
work ust be perfor ed exclusively by qualified technical personnel authorized by
TECNOWARE. TECNOWARE declines any responsibility if this warning is disregarded.
Warning to the technical personnel authorized for Service: since internal co ponents are
connected to the batteries, they will re ain powered, and therefore dangerous, even after the
UPS has been disconnected fro AC power ains. Before any repair or aintenance work,
disconnect the batteries, by re oving the positive cable (red colour) fro the positive pole of
the battery.
It is co pulsory to ground the UPS according to Safety Standards. The AC ains power supply
socket used to power the UPS ust have an earth connection.
In the event of AC ain power supply failure (when the UPS works in Battery ode), do not
unplug the power supply cable to the UPS to ensure earth continuity to the connected loads.
Since the AC ains power supply cable acts as a separation device, the AC ains power socket
used to supply the UPS and/or the rear side of the UPS ust be accessible to easily disconnect
the cable in case of dangerous conditions.
Risk of electric shock at the Output lines when the UPS is ON.
Risk of electric shock at the Output lines while the unit is connected to the AC utility line.
Do not obstruct ventilation slots or holes and do not rest any object on top of the UPS.
Do not insert objects or pour liquids in the ventilation holes.
Install the UPS indoors, in a protected, clean and oisture-free environ ent.
Do not expose to the direct sun light.
Do not keep liquids, fla able gases or corrosive substances near the UPS.

1Introduction
ECO STRIP is an UPS (Unin errup ible Power Supply) specifically designed o pro ec your compu er from any ype
of irregulari ies in he AC line (such as black-ou s, under or over vol ages, micro-in errup ions), which of en cause
damage o your Hardware and Sof ware.
Under normal AC line condi ion, ECO STRIP fil ers frequen ly occurring elec rical dis urbances (such as ransien s,
spikes, in erferences, e c.), hus pro ec ing all devices connec ed o he ou le s, and recharging he ba eries in
an ideal way. In case of anomaly o he AC line, he UPS con inues feeding he pro ec ed equipmen .
Read this anual carefully before using the ECO STRIP; it includes i portant safety
warnings and useful advices for correct use and installation.
This anual is a guide that enables you to correctly install and use your UPS. This
anual includes i portant SAFETY instructions for the operator, for the UPS correct
installation, and gives useful advice on the product and battery aintenance. For any
type of proble , please refer to this anual before calling the custo er service.
ECO STRIP is cons an ly being developed and improved: consequen ly, your uni may differ somewha from he
descrip ion con ained in his manual.
This manual includes he following models:
•ECO STRIP 0.50 (500 VA)
•ECO STRIP 0.70 (700 VA)
•ECO STRIP 0.90 (900 VA)
•ECO STRIP 1.1 (1100 VA)
•ECO STRIP 1.3 (1300 VA)
In his manual ECO STRIP will simply be referred o as UPS.
2General Characteristics
ECO STRIP has all he advanced fea ures, which guaran ee maximum reliabili y and safe y:
•All func ions are con rolled by a microprocessor, giving full guaran ee of high reliabili y.
•Overload pro ec ion bo h in normal mode and in ba ery mode.
•High performance ba ery charger, which ex ends he ba ery medium life ensuring an op imal recharge.
•S ar up even if he elec rical ne work is no available.
•Au oma ic res ar af er an au oma ic shu down due o a low ba ery condi ion once he AC u ili y power
re urns.
•Adap s au oma ically o 50 or 60 Hz inpu frequency.

3Receipt and site selection
Carefully remove he UPS from i s packaging, and carry ou a me iculous inspec ion. We recommend keeping he
original packaging in a secure place, in case you need o send he UPS for main enance purposes. In case of
ranspor damage, no ify he carrier and dealer immedia ely.
We recommend paying a en ion o he below poin s in order o choose a correc placemen for your UPS:
•The UPS is designed o opera e in a pro ec ed environmen (e.g. offices). We herefore recommend
ins alling i in a place wi h very li le or no humidi y, dus or smoke.
•In all circums ances, see he “Technical Charac eris ics” chap er for environmen al specifica ions and
check ha he selec ed area mee s hese specifica ions.
•During normal opera ion he UPS discharges a minimal amoun of hea . So i is necessary o leave a leas
20 cm of unobs ruc ed space all around he UPS in order o keep i properly ven ila ed.
•Do no obs ruc ven ila ion holes.
•Do no inser objec s or pour liquids in he ven ila ion holes.
•Do no res any objec on op of he UPS.
•Do no keep liquids, flammable gases or corrosive subs ances near he uni .

4EXTERNAL DESCRIPTION
4.1 Front Panel
The panel informs he user abou opera ing s a us, alarm condi ions hrough 2 leds.
On he panel here are (see figure 1):
1. The ON/OFF bu on: enables he user o urn ON/OFF he UPS.
2. The LINE/BATTERY led: his led (blue color) is always on during he func ioning in Normal Mode, i flashes
one ime every 4 seconds in Ba ery mode and i flashes one ime every second in Low Ba ery condi ion.
3. The ALARM led: his led (red color) is on o indica e Alarm/Faul condi ion.

5. Input circuit braker: elec rical specifica ion: max curren 5A (6A on ECO STRIP 1.3), vol age 250 V.
6. Grounded UPS Output receptacles: I alian 10A/Schuko (only for ECO STRIP 1.1 and 1.3).
7. Telephone protection (RJ11 IN/OUT connectors): o pro ec and fil er a phone line or an ADSL (TNV-3 ype
connec ions).
8. Co puter Interface (USB connector): i is he communica ion USB por (only for ECO STRIP 0.90, 1.1 and
1.3).
On ECO STRIP up side here are (see figure2):
9. Grounded UPS Output receptacles: I alian 10A/Schuko.
10. Grounded FILTRED Output receptacles: I alian 10A/Schuko.
The 1 ONLY FILTERED Output receptacles (#10), protect only the devices connected
fro overvoltage and disturbances of the AC line. Please connect ONLY the NON-critical
devices to the ONLY FILTERED Output receptacles
In case of ano aly to the AC line (black-out), ONLY the UPS Output receptacles (#6 and
#9) continue supplying the correct power to all connected equip ent. Please connect
all the non-critical devices to the UPS Output receptacles.

5Electrical Installation and First Start Up
We advise you o follow he s eps below explained for grea er safe y:
1. Swi ch off all he devices (Personal Compu er or o her elec ronic devices) ha need o be supplied by he
UPS.
2. Connec he UPS power cable o he AC line ou le . It is andatory to ground the AC line outlet according
to the Safety Standards. Carefully check he grounding, make sure ha he u ili y power is available, and
ha i s range falls wi hin he UPS specifica ions (refer o he “Technical Charac eris ics” chap er).
3. Press he ON/OFF bu on on he panel for abou 2 seconds un il he UPS emi s a brief acous ic signal. The
UPS urns on he leds he fron panel and performs a functioning SELF-TEST. Af er some seconds he UPS
s ar s o work in Nor al ode: he LINE/BATTERY led is on. Leave he UPS in Normal mode for a leas 4
hours in order o comple ely recharge he ba eries
4. Swi ch he UPS off (by pressing again he ON/OFF bu on for abou 2 seconds).
5. Connec he devices o be supplied o he UPS ou pu s, by using only he included cables. Be sure all he
devices have he main swi ch in ON posi ion.
6. Turn on he UPS again. Check ha i s ar s working correc ly and i doesn’ signal any sor of anomaly.
Moreover be sure ha all he devices connec ed o he UPS ou pu s are working correc ly.
7. Simula e a black-ou by removing he AC Inpu line. The UPS s ar s working in Battery ode: he UPS emi s
an acous ic alarm signal every 4 seconds and simul aneously he LINE/BATTERY led flashes.
8. Be sure ha all he devices connec ed o he UPS ou pu s are working correc ly and he UPS doesn’ signal
any sor of anomaly.
9. Res ore he AC Inpu line: af er few seconds he UPS urns back in Normal mode.
Before using ECO STRIP normally, leave i in Normal mode in order o charge he ba eries comple ely as specified
a poin 3. The ba eries reach he 90% of heir capaci y af er abou 4 hours of recharge.
It is co pulsory to ground/earth the UPS according to the Safety Standards.
Risk of electric shock at the Output lines if the UPS is ON, even when the UPS is not
connected to AC utility line.
Risk of electric shock at the Output lines while the unit is connected to the AC utility
line.

6Functioning
6.1 Nor al Mode
The UPS ypically works in Nor al ode: Inpu mains power is available and i s ampli ude is wi hin specifica ions.
In Normal mode he LINE/BATTERY led is always on.
During Normal mode, he UPS recharges he ba eries and keeps hem in an op imal charging vol age.
6.2 Battery Mode
The UPS au oma ically runs in Battery ode if he AC Inpu Line vol age ampli ude ge s ou of securi y limi s (in
case of a black-ou or over-vol age/low-vol age): in his case, he UPS supplies he required ou pu power by i s
in ernal ba ery and by he Inver er block.
The UPS au oma ically re urns in Normal mode a few seconds af er he AC Inpu Line is recovered.
In Ba ery mode he UPS emi s an acous ic alarm signal every 4 seconds and simul aneously he LINE/BATTERY led
flashes.
6.3 Low Battery and Auto atic Restart
In Ba ery mode, ECO STRIP indica es he Low Battery condi ion whenever he ba ery reaches a charge level
allowing connec ed devices o opera e for approxima ely one more minu e.
During Low Ba ery condi ion he UPS emi s an acous ic alarm signal every second and simul aneously he
LINE/BATTERY led flashes.
If AC Inpu does no come back on wi hin few minu es, he UPS shuts-down auto atically hus preven ing he
ba eries from discharging excessively; he UPS s ops supplying Ou pu power, deac iva es con rol panel indica ion
and goes o a wai ing s a e. Once AC Inpu comes back on, he UPS restarts auto atically and af er some seconds
i goes back o work in Normal mode.
Af er a comple e discharge, he UPS needs 4 hours o recharge comple ely he ba eries. The UPS recharges
ba eries au oma ically if i works in Normal mode.
6.4 Load Control
During he func ioning in Ba ery Mode, if he Ou pu load is higher han nominal value (Overload condition), he
UPS may au oma ically swi ch off, pro ec ing i self from his anomalous si ua ion. In his case, he user mus
reduce power wi hin he specifica ions by disconnec ing he devices ha cause he Overload condition.
Do not connect a load greater than rated value to the UPS (see POWER specifications in
the chapter “Technical Characteristics”), as this ay da age the unit. In this case the
warranty is void.
