Chapter 1 Brief Introduction
Thanks for choosing TWL542U wireless adapter. It is a standard
USB adapter that Compliant to USB1.1/2.0. It is an enhanced
high-performance supporting high-speed wireless adapter at home, or at
office. TWL542U wireless adapter is able to communicate with any
802.11b and 802.11g compliant products, supporting all Windows OS,
seamless roaming, and latest WEP and WPA encryptions.

Chapter 2 Installation Guide
This chapter describes the instructions that guides you through the
proper installation of your TWL542U wireless adapter. The installation
CD has integrated the utility with the driver, configuration software that
during the installation and uninstallation process the utility, system will
automatically install/uninstall the driver. The complete installation of the
TWL542U wireless adapter consists of the following steps (Windows
2000 as an example, for the installation under other OS, please kindly
refers to this manual with the system prompts accordingly);
Step1 Insert TWL542U wireless adapter into a USB port of your
computer, the Windows will auto-detect the USB wireless adapter and a

Click Cancel and install the driver from the Installation CD,
Step 2 Insert the CD into your CD ROM, Double click MY COMPUTER
>Your CD ROM driver>TWL542U folder, double click the icon.
Step 3 Click Next at the prompt window

Step4 Click Browse… to change the destination location of the
installation files, and select both Wireless LAN Driver and Wireless LAN
Utility, then click Next

Step5 Loading Win2000 setup utility displays and then prompt the
following dialog box, click Finish

Then you can find the wireless connection icon as below at system tray.

Chapter 3 Usage of Configuration Utility
All the functions of the wireless adapter are configurable and
manageable with this utility. Click Start>Programs> Wireless LAN Utility>
SiSCFG
3.1 Network Status

Network Mode: Peer-to-Peer (Ad-hoc) Network allows access
to a basic service group, i.e. peer-to-peer mode and AP access in not
needed; Access Point (Infrastructure) Network allows access to an
extended service group, i.e. access to AP.
Network Authentication There 4 authentication types: Open
System, Share, Auto and W PA-PSK; All authentication types supports
WEP encryption except WPA-PSK. Input the WEP key of your AP.
Please kindly note that WPA-PSK supports TKIP/AES encryption only.

Input the TKIP/AES key of the AP to log when the AP offers TKIP/AES
encryption, click Connect to scan the AP to log
SSID: SSID is the name of the AP to connect, you can also scan
and find the available network
TxRate: Transmission rate up to 54Mbps, Auto is recommended
setting
Note: 1. The SSID is the unique ID used by Access Points and other
wireless network equipment to identify various workgroups. A wireless
clients associating to any Access Point must have the same SSID of the
workgroup intend to connect.
2. You should have the encryption type and the key of your AP, and
input them properly

3.2 Site Scan
Display the name of the applicable network.

Display the link state, connection signal strength and quality,
date received and transmitted, etc.

3.4 Encryption
You can encrypt the adapter with a key or disable the data

3.5 Info
Displays the physical characters of the adapter, including the date,

version of the driver, MAC address, IP address, etc. Click Advance to
configure the power management;

3.6 Profile

The Profile field allows you to set values for all parameters by
selecting a previously defined profile. To create the profile, go to the
Profile field, type a profile name and set the corresponding parameters. If
one of the profiles is no longer used, you may remove it by clicking the
Delete button. After changing parameters, save the profile and click the
OK button to take effect. You can have multiple profiles and modify the
profile at any time.

New: Create a new Profile and make the network settings. The general
tab contains basic settings of a profile.
