The BL-40F is an intelligent meter  with a hierarchical
software structure designed for easy programming and
operation,asshownbelowinthesoftwarelogictree.
After the meter has been powered up, the four
digitslightupforthreesecondsandthensettleto
theoperationaldisplayindicatingtheinputsignal.

Themeterhasa15secondprogramtimeout.If
nobuttonsarepressedfor15seconds,atany
stageoftheprogrammingsequencethemeter
will exit the programming mode and return to

Installation Guidelines
Installation
1.Installandwiremeterperlocalapplicablecodes/reg-
ulations,theparticularapplication,andgoodinstallation
practices.
2.Install meter inalocation that doesnotexceedthe
maximum operating temperature and that provides
goodaircirculation.
3. Separate input/output leads from power lines to
protect the meter from external noise.  Input/output
leads should be routed as far away as possible from
contactors,controlrelays,transformersandothernoisy
components.Shieldingcablesforinput/outputleadsis
recommended with shield connection to earth ground
nearthemeterpreferred.
4.Acircuitbreaker ordisconnectswitchisrequired to
disconnect power to the meter.  The breaker/switch
