Option 2: Exchange Modular Cable Only

IMPORTANT! Ability to successfully change Modular Cable may be affected by
several factors, such as native cardiac output, cognitive function, etc., which may change over the course
of LVAD support, and therefore should be periodically reassessed.
a. Open the Safety Lock on the System Controller.
b. Loosen the Safety Nut on the Modular In-Line Connector until the clicking sound has stopped and it
spins freely.

a. Press the red button and remove the Controller Driveline Connector of the current Modular Cable.
The pump will stop during this time.
b. Align the WHITE arrow/ alignment mark on the Driveline with the WHITE arrow on the Controller.
c. Insert the Controller Driveline Connector of the replacement Modular Cable into the System Controller.
d. Close the Safety Lock on the replacement System Controller. The Safety Lock cannot move to the
locked position unless the driveline is fully and properly inserted.

a. Disconnect the Modular In-Line connector on the current Modular Cable by pulling the connector apart.
b. Insert the replacement Modular Cable into the Modular In-Line connector. Once connected, the pump
will restart within 10 seconds. Rotate the Locking Nut closed until the clicking stops and the yellow line
is hidden by the Locking Nut.

Exchanging the Modular Cable of the Driveline
One portion of the driveline includes the Modular Cable. If the Modular Cable needs to be replaced due to damage or fatigue, it can be accomplished in two ways. Option 1 includes
changing the Modular Cable and the System Controller, while Option 2 changes the Modular Cable only.
Option 1: Exchange Modular Cable and System Controller

a. Power the replacement System Controller.
b. Align the WHITE arrow/ alignment mark on the Driveline with the WHITE arrow on the Controller.
c. Insert the Controller Driveline Connector of the replacement Modular Cable into the replacement System Controller.
d. Close the Safety Lock on the replacement System Controller. The Safety Lock cannot move to the locked position unless the driveline is fully and properly inserted.

a. Disconnect the currently connected Modular Cable by rotating the Locking Nut of the Modular In-Line connector until the clicking sound has stopped and it spins freely.
Pull the two ends of the cable apart.

a. Insert the replacement Modular Cable into the Modular In-Line connector. Rotate the Locking Nut closed until the clicking stops and the yellow line is hidden
by the Locking Nut.
b. Remove the replaced Modular Cable from the replaced System Controller, and then put it into Sleep Mode by disconnecting from power and pressing and holding the
battery button for 5 seconds.
