It is very important with the Xylophone Player that all of the various internal parts, shafts and tubes running up
through the body are really well waxed and sanded smooth. They must all be able to drop up and down freely if
lifted, especially the square block inside the body.

Before gluing use a triangle (Part #13) as a spacer and
position it in 3 places as detailed in illustrations on page 7.
There should be 1mm space between the triangle cam and
parts 4 and 5. When this is so, remove triangle. Glue and
leave to dry for 10 minutes.

It is also important that part 5 on page 6 is very well waxed and sanded – otherwise the motion of the player can be
“clunky”. The correct gap around the tri-cam (part 13) on page 7 is vital. Too tight and the triangle will not be able
to revolve (push a piece of 6mm diameter shaft into the tri-cam and place it into the slot in part 3 and then turn it to
check the tri-cam will fully turn before nally gluing part 5 in place). Too big a gap and the arms will not lift up and
down properly.
