failures resulting from modication, accident, unsuitable operating environment, misuse, abuse, neglect,
or improper maintenance. For full details, contact your Authorized Tornado Distributor, Service Center, or
the Tornado Technical Service Department. Tornado sales and service representatives are not authorized to
waive or alter the terms of this warranty, or to increase the obligations of Tornado under the warranty.

the unit from Tornado (at Tornado’s discretion), whichever comes rst.
4. The EB 30 is warranted for a period of 90 days for both parts and labor.
5. Propane-powered equipment engines are limited to the engine manufacturer’s warranty.

GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance must be grounded. If it should malfunction or breakdown, grounding provides a path of least
resistance for electric current to reduce the risk electric shock. This machine is equipped with a cord having
an equipment -grounding conductor and grounding plug. The plug must be inserted into an appropriate
outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances.
WARNING: Improper connection of the equipment-grounding conductor can result in a risk of electric
shock. Check with a qualied electrician or service person if you are in doubt as to whether the outlet is
properly grounded. Do not modify the plug provided with the appliance - if it will not t the outlet, have a
proper outlet installed by a qualied electrician.
This appliance is for use on a nominal 120-volt circuit, and has a grounding plug that looks like the plug
illustrated in sketch A.
Your new Tornado unit is a high quality, precision-made product. All parts used in the manufacturing of this unit
have passed rigid quality control standards prior to assembly. Please safeguard the original receipt / invoice. If
you experience any problems with your unit during the warranty period, the original receipt / invoice will act as

GENERAL RULES OF SAFETY
The rules below have to be followed carefully in order to avoid
injury to the operator and damage to the machine.
• Read the labels carefully on the machine. Do not cover
them for any reason and replace them immediately if
damaged.
• ATTENTION: The machine must be used exclusively by
authorized sta that have been instructed on its correct
and proper use.
• ATTENTION: Do not use the machine on areas having a
higher gradient than the one stated on the number plate.
• ATTENTION: The machine is not to be used by persons,
children included, with reduced physical, sensorial
or mental capabilities, or with lack of experience or
knowledge, unless they could benet, through the
intermediation of a responsible person for their safety, by a
supervision or instructions concerning to its use.
• During the operation of the machine, pay attention to
other people and especially to the children.
• Children shall not play with the machine.
• Children cannot carry out cleaning and maintenance of the
machine.
TRANSFER
• Do not strike shelving or scaoldings where there is
danger of falling objects.
• Leaving the machine in parking position, take o the key
and act upon the parking brake.
• Do not use the machine as a means of transport.
• Adapt the working speed to the adhesion conditions:
particularly, slow down before narrow curves have to be
faced.
STORAGE AND DISPOSAL
• Storage temperature: between 32°F and 131°F (0°C and
+55°C).
• Perfect operating temperature: between 32°F and 104°F
(0°C and +40°C).
• The humidity should not exceed 95%.
• Provide for the scrapping of the material of normal wear
following strictly the respective rules.
• When your machine has to stop activity, provide for the
appropriate waste disposal of its materials, especially oils,
batteries and electronic components, and considering that
the machine itself has been, where possible, constructed
using recyclable materials.
CORRECT USE
• Do not use the machine on surfaces covered with
inammable liquids or dusts (for example hydrocarbons,
ashes or soot).
• In case of re, use a powder based re-extinguisher. Do not
use water.
• Do not use the machine in explosive atmosphere.
• The machine has to carry out simultaneously the
operations of washing and drying. Dierent operations
must be carried out in restricted areas prohibited to
non-authorized personnel and the operator has to wear
suitable shoes.
• Signal the areas of moist oors with suitable signs.
• Before using the machine, check that all panels and
coverings are in their position as indicated in this use and
maintenance catalogue.
• Restore all electrical connections after any maintenance
operation.
• At any intervention on the batteries, use suitable acid-
proof gloves and glasses.
• Do not smoke near the batteries and do not approach
them with free ames.
• Check that a re-extinguisher is available on site.
• Be very careful in case of leakages or liquid outlets
because corrosive.
• Do not place any metallic tools onto the batteries. Risk
of short circuit!
• It is compulsory to hand over exhaust batteries,
classied as dangerous waste, to an authorized
institution according to the current laws.
GENERAL RULES OF THE BATTERIES
• Do not mix dierent detergents, avoiding harmful odours.
• Avoid pad operation when the machine is standing still in
order to prevent oor damages.
• Before lifting the recovery tank, make sure that it is empty.
MAINTENANCE
• If the machine does not work properly, check by
conducting simple maintenance procedures. Otherwise, as
for technical advice from an authorized assistance centre.
• For any cleaning and/or maintenance operation take o
the power supply from the machine.
• Where parts are required, ask for ORIGINAL spare parts
from the distributor and/or from an authorized dealer.
• Do not take o the protections which require the use of
tools for their removal.
• Do not wash the machine with direct water, jets or with
high water pressure nor with corrosive material.
• Every 200 working hours have a machine check by an
authorized service department.

BEFORE USE
HANDLING OF THE PACKED MACHINE
The machine is supplied with suitable packing
foreseen for fork lift truck handling.
For the package dimensions please look at the
“TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION” table.
Do not place more than 2 packings on top of each
other.
UNPACKING OF THE MACHINE
1. Remove the external packing.
2. Unscrew the brackets (1) that secure the machine
to the pallet.
3. Provide for an inclined base.
4. Move the machine backwards, as indicated in the
gure, avoiding heavy contacts to mechanical parts.
5. Keep the pallet and the brackets for eventual
transport.
The portable slope is not included in the packaging.
ACCESS TO THE BATTERY COMPARTMENT
To reach the battery compartment, rst of all make
sure that the recovery tank (1) is empty by opening
the cover (2).
If the tank is full, proceed as indicated under
“RECOVERY TANK CLEANING”, otherwise take o the
squeegee hose (3) and lift the tank.
Thanks to a blocking system of 2 levels, the machine
allows the battery charging with a partial tank
opening.
BATTERY INSTALLATION
The machine is equipped either with batteries in
serial connection or elements of DIN-type assembled
together and connected in series, placed in its
appropriate compartment under the recovery
tank and must be handled using suitable lifting
equipment (due to weight, considering the type
of batteries chosen, and coupling system). The
batteries must be in accordance with CEI 21-5
Norms.
The batteries must be inserted as follows:
The machine and its battery check card foresee the
use of traditional lead batteries.

CHECK SETTING OF THE CHECK CARD ON THE
DISPLAY (1).
In case of GEL batteries installation, it is necessary
to set the battery check card. Please contact the
authorized technical assistance.
Strictly follow manufacturer/distributor indications
for the maintenance and recharge of the batteries.
All installation and maintenance operations must
be executed by specialized sta, using suitable
protection accessories.
BATTERY RECHARGER
Be sure that the battery recharger is suitable for
the installed batteries both for their capacities
and type (lead/acid or GEL and equivalent).
In the plastic bag containing the use and
maintenance you will nd the coupling connector
for the recharger. It must be assembled onto the
cables of your recharger, following the instructions
given by the manufacturer.
BATTERIES RECHARGING
Bring the machine on a levelled surface.
1. Plug in batteries connector (2) placed in the rear
part of the machine, to the connector (1) of the
battery recharger.
2. Proceed to the recharging keeping the tank lifted
(see under paragraph“BATTERY INSTALLATION AND
SETTING OF THE BATTERY TYPE” in “BEFORE USE”).
3. Maintain the connection with the battery
recharger until the indication of the end of charge is
visualized.
BATTERIES RECHARGING WITH ON-BOARD
CHARGER
Bring the machine on a leveled surface near to a
single-phase socket (within 2m, 6.5 ft.) with a voltage
of 120V, 60Hz), nominal current 10A.
Switch o the machine and proceed as follows.
1. Insert the plug into the mains socket.
2. Proceed to the recharging keeping the tank lifted
(see under paragraph“BATTERY INSTALLATION AND
SETTING OF THE BATTERY TYPE” in “BEFORE USE”).
3. Do not take o the plug from the mains socket
until the indication of the end of charge is not
visualized.
4. At the end of the recharging, take o the plug
from the mains socket.
ON-BOARD BATTERY RECHARGER
Please refer to the instructions of the manufature
what the recharging operations concern.
The battery recharger is connected directly to the
battery poles.
During the recharging operations a device is
activated which does not permit the machine’s
functioning.
The main cable of the battery recharger has a
maximum length of 6.5 ft. )two meters) and must be
connected to a single-phase socket.

Never leave the batteries completely discharged
even if the machine is not used. In case of lead/acid
batteries, please check the electrolyte level every
20 recharging cycles and eventually top up with
distilled water at the end of the recharge. Never
leave the batteries discharged for more than two
weeks.
Danger of gas exhalations and emission of corrosive
liquids. Fire danger: do not approach with free
ames.
BATTERIES CHARGE LEVEL INDICATOR
WHEN THE MACHINE IS SWITCHED ON, ON THE
DISPLAY APPEARS THE SETTING OF THE BATTERY
CHECK CARD:
GE 24: check card set for GEL batteries.
Pb 24: check card set for lead batteries.
The batteries charge level indicator (1) is digital and
indicates the percentage of the battery charge. 100
is the maximum charge, down to a minimum of 10,
indicating every 10% decrease.
When the charge level reaches 20%, the display
starts blinking indicating the end of the battery
charge.
A few seconds after from the blinking of the four
lines, the base motor stops automatically. With the
remaining charge it is still possible to nish the
drying operation before proceeding to recharge.
HOUR METER
The machine is equipped with an hour meter
located on the same display of the battery charge
level indicator (1). Keeping the button (2) pressed
for more than 3 seconds, the rst data indicates the
working hours and after a few seconds the working
minutes are shown.
SQUEEGEE ASSEMBLY
1. Maintain the squeegee support (1) slightly lifted
from the oor.
2. Insert the threaded parts of the two knobs (2)
making them slide inside the two slots present on
the support. Pay attention to put the washers (3)
into position, there are two for each knob, so that
they are assembled one under and the other on top
of the two slots present on the support.

3. Block the squeegee by rotating the two knobs (2)
clockwise.
4. Insert the squeegee hose (4) into its coupling,
respecting its position as indicated in the gure.
ADJUSTMENT OF THE SQUEEGEE
In order to have a perfect drying result through
the squeegee, the rear rubber must have the lower
bending uniformly adjusted in all its length. For the
adjustment, it is necessary to put oneself in working
condition and therefore the suction motor has to be
switched on and the base has to function together
with the detergent solution.
The bending is not uniform
Adjust the squeegee inclination rotating
counterclockwise the wing nut (1) to increase the
bending in the central part, or clockwise to increase
the bending on the extremities.
Height adjustment
Once that the squeegee inclination has been
adjusted, it is necessary to x this optimum
condition making touch slightly the wheels onto the
oor. Release the wheels rotating counterclockwise
the register (2), rotate the register (3) to raise or
to lower the wheels until the desired bending is
reached.
At the end block again the wheels through the
register (2).
PAD ASSEMBLY
To secure the pad proceed as follows:
Use switch (1) to lift the base.
Place the pad under the base, then lower it using
switch (1).
FLOOR CLEANING
CONNECTION OF THE BATTERIES TO THE
MACHINE
Plug in the batteries connector (1) to the machine
connector (2), placed in the rear part of the machine.
RECOVERY TANK
Verify that the squeegee hose coupling (1) is
correctly inserted into its seat and that the exhaust
hose plug (2) is well closed.
The recovery tank is provided with a cover (3) that
blocks itself thanks to the vacuum created by the
suction motor during its use.

DETERGENT SOLUTION TANK
The solution tank is provided with an inspection
opening. This permits to clean the exit point of the
detergent solution.
Be sure that the cap is well tightened after the
cleaning.
The capacity of the detergent solution tank is
indicated in the technical data.
Open the screw plug placed in the rear right part of
the machine and ll the detergent solution tank with
clean water at a maximum temperature of 122°F
(50°C). Add the liquid detergent in the percentage
and conditions foreseen by the manufacturer. To
avoid excessive foam presence, which could cause
problems to the suction motor, use the minimum
percentage of detergent recommended.
On the right side of the machine there is placed a
level hose that permits to see easily the solution
quantity inside the tank both during the lling of the
solution and during the working.
Screw down the solution tank cap.
STARTING OF THE MACHINE
1. Turn the key (1) clockwise.
2. Check the battery type and the charge level on
the display (2).
3. Press the brush base up/down position switch (3).
4. Press the base motor switch (4).
5. Press the suction motor switch (5).
6. Press the solenoid valve switch (6).
7. Acting upon the solution valve lever (7) open and
adjust the solution detergent ow.
The water starts to ow automatically acting upon
the levers drive control (8). On the instrument board
the indicator of the solenoid valve switch (6) will turn
on. Releasing these levers, the ow will stop.
8. Acting upon the squeegee lifting lever (9) lower
the squeegee.
9. Acting upon the levers drive control (8) the
machine starts to move the base starts to vibrate
and the squeegee starts to dry.

10. During the rst stretches check that the
squeegee adjustment guarantees a perfect drying
action and that the detergent solution ow is
appropriate. It has to be sucient to wet the oor
uniformly. Always consider that the correct quantity
of solution detergent depends on type of oor,
dirtiness and machine speed.
FORWARD MOVEMENT
The traction of the machine is given through an
electronically controlled motor.
To move the machine, switch on the key (1) and
then rotate the levers drive control (2) placed on the
handle bar, in forward you obtain the forward drive,
in reverse the backwards movement is obtained.
The control acts in a progressive way, therefore it
is possible to graduate the speed depending on
each requirement rotating the lever whatever it
is necessary. During reverse motion the speed is
reduced.
Moving the machine backwards, make sure that the
squeegee is lifted.
SPEED ADJUSTMENT
Two values of the maximum drive working speed in
forward movement can be chosen.
Set the wanted speed through the speed selection
switch (1).
WORKING BRAKE
To stop the machine during normal working
situation, it is sucient to release the levers drive
control (1), as the machine is equipped with an
electronic braking system. The base and the
detergent solution ow stop automatically.
EMERGENCY BRAKE
In case of an emergency, an immediate stop can be
obtained acting upon the lever of the emergency
and parking brake (1) by pushing it downwards.
This control blocks the machine immediately.
The emergency brake functions also as a parking
brake. To start again to work, release the lever by
unblocking the parking button on the lever itself
and act again upon the levers drive control.
ADJUSTMENT OF THE BASE PRESSURE
Through the register (1) it is possible to adjust the
pad pressure on the cleaned surface.
By turning the knob clockwise, the pressure
increases, rotating it counterclockwise, the pressure
decreases.
This device allows a more ecient cleaning action
also on very dicult and dirty surfaces.

In order not to overload the base motor, it is
convenient to reduce the base pressure going from
smooth oors to rough ones (ex. concrete).
OVERFLOW DEVICE
In order to avoid serious damages to the suction
motor, the machine is equipped with a oat that
intervenes when the recovery tank is full, closing the
suction hose and stopping the suction.
When this happens, it is necessary to empty the
recovery tank.
1. Hold the exhaust hose placed in the front part of
the machine.
2. Take o the exhaust plug acting upon its lever and
empty the recovery tank into appropriate containers,
according to the standard norms.
SIGNAL DETERGENT SOLUTION RESERVE (H2O
ON THE DISPLAY)
When the indication H2O on the display appears,
this means that the detergent is getting low
corresponding to 10% of the maximum capacity of
the solution tank.
STOP OF THE MACHINE AFTER CLEANING
OPERATION
Before executing any type of maintenance:
1. Turn the base motor switch o (1).
2. Turn the suction motor switch o (2).
3. Lift the base using switch (3).
4. Lift the squeegee acting upon the lever (4).
5. Bring the machine to an appropriate place for
tanks draining.
6. Turn the key (5) counterclockwise.
7. Activate the parking brake.
DAILY MAINTENANCE
RECOVERY TANK CLEANING
1. Hold the exhaust hose placed in the left part of
the machine.
Take o the plug of the exhaust hose acting upon its
lever and empty the recovery tank into appropriate
containers.
2. Open the cover of the recovery tank.
3. Rinse the tank with a water jet.

SUCTION FILTER CLEANING
1. Open the cover (1) and unscrew the knob (2) to
release the lter protection (3).
2. Rotate the lter protection clockwise to release it.
3. Take o the lter and the lter protection.
4. Clean all parts with a water jet especially the inside
surfaces and the lter bottom.
5. Carry out cleaning operations carefully.
6. Reassemble all parts
PAD DISASSEMBLY
To disassemble the pad, proceed as follows:
Move the switch (1) to lift the base and take o the
pad.
SQUEEGEE CLEANING
Keeping the squeegee clean guarantees the best
drying result.
For its cleaning it is necessary to:
1. Take o the squeegee hose (4) from the coupling.
2. Disassemble the squeegee from its support (1)
by loosening the knobs (2) counterclockwise and
making slide the threaded parts in the appropriate
slots up to their release.
3. Clean with care the internal part of the squeegee
inlet eliminating eventual dirt residuals.
4. Clean with care the squeegee rubbers.
5. Reassemble all parts paying attention to put the
washers (3) into position, they are two for each knob,
so that they are assembled one under and the other
on each of the two slots present on the support.

WEEKLY MAINTENANCE
REAR SQUEEGEE RUBBER CHECK
Check the squeegee rubber wear and eventually
turn or replace it.
For the replacement it is necessary to:
1. Lift the squeegee (see under paragraph “STOP OF
THE MACHINE AFTER CLEANING OPERATION”).
2. Release the hooks (1).
3. Unscrew the wing nuts (2) to take o the terminals
of the outer rubber holder blades (3) and then take
o the central rubber holder blade (4).
4. Take o the rubber (5), turn it to a new side or
replace it.
To reassemble the squeegee repeat reverse the
operations above mentioned.
SQUEEGEE HOSE CLEANING
Weekly or in case of insucient suction, it is
necessary to check that the squeegee hose is not
obstructed. Eventually, to clean it, proceed as
follows:
1. Take o the hose from the squeegee coupling.
2. Wash the inside of the hose with a water jet.
To reassemble the hose repeat reverse the
operations above-mentioned.
Do not wash the hose that goes from the suction
motor to the recovery tank.
CLEANING OF THE SOLUTION TANK
1. Bring the machine to an appropriate place for the
detergent solution draining.
2. Unscrew the solution tank cap.
3. Unscrew the cap of the exhaust lter (1) so that
the detergent solution ows out into appropriate
containers.
4. Rinse with a water jet the solution tank.
5. Reassemble all parts.
TWO-MONTHLY MAINTENANCE
CHECK AND REPLACEMENT FRONT SQUEEGEE
RUBBER
Check the wear of the squeegee rubber and
eventually replace it.
For the replacement it is necessary to:
1. Take o the squeegee (see under paragraph
“SQUEEGEE CLEANING”).
2. Disassemble the rear part of the squeegee (see
under paragraph“REAR SQUEEGEE RUBBER CHECK”).
3. Unscrew the wing nuts (1) and take o the front
rubber holder blade (2).
4. Replace the front rubber (3).
To reassemble the squeegee repeat reverse the
operations above mentioned.

The checking of all the other foreseen machine
operations is left to the authorized technical

SIGNALS ON THE DISPLAY
A001: Indication of the version of the electronic
check card (the last number indicates the revision of
the check card).
Pb24: Indication battery check card set for lead
batteries.
GE24: Indication battery check card set for gel
batteries.
---- (blinking): signal indicating the discharged
batteries.
THE SUCTION MOTOR DOES NOT WORK
1. Verify that the key switch (1) is in the correct
position.
2. Check the charge level of the batteries (2).
3. Check that the battery connector is correctly
plugged in.
4. Verify that the switch (3) is on.
5. Check that the red connector of the suction motor
is correctly plugged in.
If the problem persists, please contact the
authorized technical assistance.
THE BASE MOTOR DOES NOT WORK
1. Verify that the key switch (1) is in the correct
position. Switch o and on again the machine.
2. Check the charge level of the batteries (2).
3. Check that the battery connector is correctly
plugged in.
4. Verify that the switch (3) is on.
5. Act upon the levers drive control (4).
If the problem persists, please contact the
authorized technical assistance.
THE TRACTION MOTOR DOES NOT WORK
1. Switch o and on again the machine (1).
2. Release the brake (2) until the signal lamp (3)
comes o.
3. Act upon the levers drive control (4).
If the problem persists, please contact the
authorized technical assistance.

INSUFFICIENT WATER ON THE BASE
1. Check that the solution valve lever (1) is open.
2. Check the level of the liquid in the solution tank.
3. Check that the solution lter (2) is clean.
4. The machine is equipped with solenoid valve,
therefore act upon the levers drive control (3).
If the problem persists, please contact the
authorized technical assistance.
THE MACHINE DOES NOT CLEAN PROPERLY
1. Verify the presence of the PAD.
2. Verify that the PAD is intact.
3. To replace the pad, see under“PAD DISASSEMBLY”
and “PAD ASSEMBLY”.
4. The solution detergent is insucient: open more
the solution valve.
5. Check that the liquid detergent is in the
recommended percentage.
6. Increase the base pressure (see at paragraph
"ADJUSTMENT OF THE BASE PRESSURE").
Contact the authorized technical assistance for
advice.
THE SQUEEGEE DOES NOT DRY PERFECTLY
1. Check that the squeegee rubbers are clean.
2. Check the adjustment of the height and
the inclination of the squeegee. (see section
“ADJUSTMENT OF THE SQUEEGEE” in “BEFORE USE”).
3. Check that the suction hose is correctly inserted in
the proper seat on the recovery tank.
4. Clean the suction lter.
5. Replace the rubbers if worn out.
6. Check that the suction motor switch is on.
EXCESSIVE FOAM PRODUCTION
Check that low foam detergent has been used.
Eventually add small quantities of anti foam liquid
into the recovery tank.
Please be aware that a bigger quantity of foam is
produced when the oor is not very dirty. In this case
please dilute more the detergent solution.
