Dear customer,
We are delighted that you have chosen our battery concept. The Fast Charger 1700 W cor-
responds to the most recent state of the art.
The fast charger is characterized by fully automatic charging technology with automatic
restart function, shows possible connection problems to the battery, and different LEDs
provide information about operating and charging condition. In case of excessively high
temperatures, automated charge current reduction prevents overheating of the device. It is
short-circuit and reverse polarity safe, convection cooled and waterproof according to IP65.
Torqeedo‘s Power 26-104 and 1700 W fast charger are by far the most complete and
customer-friendly battery management system available on the market today.
As Torqeedo products, the fast charger, too, has been designed and manufactured with
the utmost care and with special focus on comfort, user-friendliness, safety, and has been
extensively tested before delivery.
Please take your time to read this operating manual carefully so that you can use the fast
charger properly and enjoy it for a long time.

1. Important safety and operating instructions
DANGER
This symbol warns about risks of injury to yourself and others.
The 1700 W charger is designed to operate safely and reliably as long as it is used in com-
pliance with the operating manual. Please read this manual carefully before starting the
fast charger. Non-compliance with these instructions may cause property and/or personal
damage. Torqeedo assumes no liability for damage caused by any operations contrary to
the present operating manual.
To ensure safe operation of the fast charger, please take in mind the following instructions:
• The 1700 W charger is exclusively assigned for being used with Power 26-104. Do not use
the fast charger either for the previous model Power 26-77 nor for any other batteries.
• Only allow responsible adults to run the fast charger who have been instructed on opera-
tion of the latter. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the
device.
• Do not use the 1700 W charger close to flammable gases, solvents or vapors: there is a
risk of explosion!
• Before using the fast charger, make sure that it has not been damaged. Do not use it
any more in case of a damaged housing or damaged cables/connectors. Do not open
the housing either – high risk of electric shock! Repairs may only be performed by a
Torqeedo Service Center – you‘ll find any contact data on the back of this manual or in
the internet under www.torqeedo.com/Service Center.
• Only charge the battery when it is standing on a non-flammable surface, and under
supervision of an adult. Attention, the fast charger will heat up during operation.
• Even if the 1700 W charger is protected according to protection class IP65 (protected
against sprinkling water from any angle), it should be protected from moisture.
• Protect the 1700 W charger from direct sunlight.
• Secure the 1700 W charger against slipping and tilting during operation.
• When the 1700 W charger is out of operation, disconnect the power plug.
• Only use the 1700 W charger at ambient temperatures of between 0°C and 45°C
(32°F to +113°F).
• Keep the 1700 W charger away from fire.
• Beside these selected warnings, please take in mind the whole operating manual.

4.1 Connecting the fast charger to the battery
• Only charge the battery when it is standing on a non-flammable
surface, and under supervision of a responsible adult.
• Only charge the battery at ambient temperatures of between 0°C and
45°C / 32°F and 113°F.
• During charging process protect fast charger and battery from contact
with water.
• Avoid contact between the two ring eyes.
• When connecting the fast charger, ensure the correct polarity.
• Only plug fast charger into wall socket after it has been connected
to the battery.
• The fast charger will heat up during operation.
• Make sure there is adequate ventilation.
• Keep the fast charger away from easily flammable materials.
• It should be noted that, when using a 110 V power supply, the maxi-
mum performance cannot be achieved. The resulting output-current is
only 26 A, instead of 60 A.
• In case you should not succeed in recharging a totally discharged
battery, take battery and fast charger to a Torqeedo service point for
inspection (contact data on the back of this manual).
1. Connect eyelet on the red cable with positive pole and eyelet on black cable with
negative pole.
2. Only then plug the power plug into the wall socket.
3. Now switch on the battery. Charging process now begins automatically. During
charging process, LED will light up red. When charging process will be finished,
LED will light up green.
Depending on the charge state of the battery, charging time will take less than 2 hours.
In case of excess heating of battery or fast charger (for instance due to exposure to the
sun), charging time may extend.

4.2 Disconnecting the fast charger from the battery
First unplug the fast charger from the mains. Then disconnect the connection between
battery and charger.
Charging advice:
In case the fast charger should be disconnected from the battery during charging, charg-
ing will be terminated immediately. In this case, please disconnect the fast charger from
the mains. To start new charging, please follow the steps under 4.1.
4.3 Charging operation with batteries connected in parallel
• Please take in mind the instructions given in the operating manual of
Power 26-104.
Torqeedo recommends use of one charger per battery. However, it is possible to use one
charger for batteries connected in parallel. In this case charging time multiplies with the
number of batteries connected in parallel.

4.4 Charging operation with batteries connected in series
With serially connected batteries, each battery requires its own charger for charging.
5. Errors and possible troubleshooting
When an alarm situation stopping the charge occurs, the display shows one of the infor-
mation below according failure detected:

6. Care
To clean the device you may use any usual customary cleaning agents suitable for syn-
thetics.
• Please make sure to protect the pressure compensation valve against
soiling.
7. Decommissioning of the product / Disposal
All Torqeedo products comply with the provisions of Directive 2002/96/EC. This directive
rules dismissal of electric and electronic equipment to sustainably protect the environment.
Depending on local requirements you may dispose of your fast charger
at a municipal collecting point for its proper disposal.

8. Warranty conditions
8.1 Extent of warranty
Torqeedo GmbH, Friedrichshafener Straße 4a, 82205 Gilching - Germany, guarantees final
purchaser of any Torqeedo product that the latter is free of any material and processing
defects during the period of coverage stated below. Torqeedo will indemnify final purchas-
er against any costs of repair of any material or manufacturing defect. This indemnifica-
tion obligation does neither cover incidental costs of a warranty claim nor other financial
disadvantages (e.g. costs for towing, telecommunications, food, accommodation, loss of
use, loss of time, etc.).
Warranty for standard products ends two years after delivery of product to final purchaser.
Are excluded from this two-year warranty any products that have been used – even if only
temporarily – for commercial purposes or the purposes of public authorities. These are cov-
ered by a one year warranty. Warranty lapses six months after discovery of any defect.
It‘s up to Torqeedo to decide whether defective pieces will be repaired or replaced. Dis-
tributors and retailers doing reparation works on Torqeedo products are not authorized to
issue any legally binding statement on behalf of Torqeedo.
Warranty covers neither wear parts nor routine maintenance.
Torqeedo is entitled to refuse warranty claims if
• warranty has not duly been submitted (in particular: contacting Torqeedo before send-
ing back defective products; lack of completely filled-in warranty certificate and proof of
purchase; refer to chapter „Warranty process“),
• the product has not been treated in accordance with the instructions,
• safety, handling and care instructions of the operating manual have been disregarded,
• the object of purchase has been anyhow altered or modified or equipped with parts and/
or accessories which are not expressly included in the equipment approved or recom-
mended by Torqeedo,
• previous maintenance or repair works have not been carried out by companies approved
by Torqeedo or other than original spare parts have been used - unless end user is able to
prove that the fact leading to rejecting warranty claims has not favoured development of
the defect.
In addition to the claims from this warranty, the final user also has legal warranty claims
arising from his/her purchase contract with the respective retailer that are not limited by
the present warranty.

8.2 Warranty process
Compliance with the warranty process described hereinafter is a prerequisite to satisfac-
tion of any warranty claims.
Look for a service location in your vicinity. Under www.torqeedo.com/service-center/
service-standorte, you‘ll find a list of all center locations.
If you send your product to Torqeedo Service Center at Gilching, you will need a transac-
tion number which you may get by phone or by email. Without transaction number, your
shipment will not be accepted there. If you send your product to another service location,
please agree upon with the respective service partner before dispatching it.
In order to ensure smooth processing of warranty cases, please bear in mind the following:
• Please attach duly completed warranty certificate to shipment. Blank form is enclosed
with the present manual. Data filled in the warranty certification must comprise infor-
mation such as contact details, details of reclaimed product, serial number and a brief
description of the problem.
• Please enclose proof of purchase with the shipment (receipt, invoice or other receipt).
Proof of purchase must in particular prove purchase itself and purchase date.
