Introduction
This manual provides information on how to safely install and perform maintenance on the Toshiba TEFC
3Ø Motor Oil Mist Lubrication System.
The information within this manual applies to the Toshiba TEFC 3Ø Motor with anti-friction bearings only.
Oil mist is an aerosol vapor comprised of an oil and air mixture; one-to-20,000, respectively, is typical.
The high-pressure mist is passed through an orifice (Reclassifier) that increases the speed of the oil/air
flow and combines the smaller oil particles before the mist is passed through to the bearing housing.
The Oil Mist Lubrication System is the preferred lubrication system of the Hydrocarbon Processing Industry.
This is because the system is hermetically sealed, has no moving parts, and uses only new oil (no
recirculation) — this results in significantly reduced bearing failures.
To maximize the abilities of the Oil Mist Lubrication System, a working familiarity with this manual is
required. This manual has been prepared for the Oil Mist Lubrication System installer and maintenance
personnel.
This manual may also be used as a reference guide. With this in mind, use this manual to develop a
familiarity with the Oil Mist Lubrication System before attempting to install any elements of the system,
transfer oil, or perform system maintenance.

• Frame Sizes/Associated Flow Rate Specifications.
Included is a section on general safety instructions that describe the warning labels and symbols that are
used on the device and throughout the manual. Read the manual completely before installing, operating,
performing maintenance, or disposing of this equipment.
This manual should be considered a permanent part of the equipment and should be readily available for
reference and review.
