Care must be taken when installing this accessory to ensure damage does not occur to the vehicle. The installation of this
accessory should follow approved guidelines to ensure a quality installation.
These guidelines can be found in the "Accessory Installation Practices" document.
This document covers such items as:-
•Vehicle Protection (use of covers and blankets, cleaning chemicals, etc.).
•Safety (eye protection, rechecking torque procedure, etc.).
•Vehicle Disassembly/Reassembly (panel removal, part storage, etc.).
•Electrical Component Disassembly/Reassembly (battery disconnection, connector removal, etc.).
Please see your Toyota dealer for a copy of this document.
1. Pre-installation Preparation.
(a) Inspect and verify the kit contents.
(b) Make sure front edge of hood, where the
deflector is to be installed, is clean and free
from dirt and/or debris using soap and water,
dry thoroughly.
(c) Cover the engine compartment with a
protective blanket to catch any dropped
hardware.
(d) Remove masking from hood protector.
2. Installation.
(a) Locate the proper eight holes underneath the
front edge of the hood. These will be utilized
to attach the brackets. (Fig 2-1)
(b) Remove four of the rubber weather strip seal
nylon inserts in order to allow the installation
of the four inner brackets (Fig 2-2). Nylon
inserts can be removed with the use of pliers.
(c) Discard the four nylon inserts.

(d) Apply the 1 7/8”(48mm) mylar strips at the
edge of the hood in the area of the eight
bracket locations. (Fig. 2-3)
Note: Mylar tape shall wrap around the edge of
the hood and cover 15 mm of the top and the rest
on bottom of the hood surface.
(e) BRACKET INSTALLATION: Each bracket
is marked accordingly. I = Inner; Mid =
Middle; Out= Outer Edge. (Fig. 2-4)
(1) For the Inner brackets, they are to
be installed between the hood and
the rubber weather strip seal. (Fig.
2-5)
(2) Insert and snap the SQUARE nylon
insert over the bracket and into the
hood. (Fig. 2-6)

(3) Cover the bracket and SQUARE
nylon insert with the rubber weather
strip seal. Insert the 18.5mm length
screw with the nylan washer and
tighten the screw (Fig 2-7 and 2-8)
(4) For the Middle and Outer brackets,
they are to be installed at the edge
of the hood and secured with the
ROUND nylon fastener inserts. (Fig
2-9 and 2-10)

An alignment feature has been provided on the
shield to aid in centering the part on the hood.
Utilize this feature to align with the center hood
latch. (Fig 2-12).
(f) Attach hood protector to the brackets using
the 14.5mm length machine screws. (Fig. 2-
13)
Note: Hood must be opened for proper access of
the machine screw heads.
