In accordance with FEM 9.511 the devices correspond to drive group 1 Bmat rope speeds of up to 9 m/min, and to drive group 1 Cmat
a rope speed exceeding 9 m/min. The average operating time per day with relation to a year (operating time class) depends on the
actual load (load spectrum).
The tolerances for the voltage fluctuations of the frequency comply with the guidelines of EN 60034-1.
All electric hoists comply with protection category IP55. Exeption: Control boxes with power sockets comply with protection category
IP54. All electric hoists are dimensioned for 16 A connecting cable. Exception: X 2058 P, this hoist is dimensioned for a 32A
connecting cable. The on-site overcurrent protection equipment must be dimensioned according to the respective connecting cable.

The performance and duty cycle of the motors may be affected when operated at altitudes over 1000 m or temperatures over 40 °C.
Working ambient temperature range: Depending on the ambient conditions (ambient temperature, sunrays, etc.) as well as the
possible thermal discharge (dirt, accumulated heat, etc.). Expanded range available (excluding electrical components which are limited
to minimal temperature of -15°C).

der tatsächlich auftretenden Belastung (Lastkollektiv).
Die Toleranzen für Spannungsschwankungen der Netzfrequenz entsprechen den Bestimmungen der EN 60034-1.
Alle elektrischen Winden weisen die Schutzklasse IP55 auf. Ausnahme: Steuerkästen mit Steckdosen entsprechen der Schutzklasse
IP54. Alle elektrischen Winden sind für 16A Anschlussleitung ausgelegt. Ausnahme: X 2058 P, diese Winde ist für 32A
Anschlussleitung ausgelegt. Die bauseitige Überstromschutzeinrichtung ist entsprechend der jeweiligen Anschlussleitung auszulegen.
Betrieb in Höhenlagen über 1000 m oder bei Temperaturen über 40 °C kann die Leistung des Motors beeinflussen und die
Einschaltdauer reduzieren.
Bereich für die Umgebungs-Betriebstemperatur: Abhängig von den Umgebungsbedingungen (Umgebungstemperatur,
Sonneneinstrahlung, etc.) sowie der möglichen Wärmeabfuhr (Schmutz, Stauwärme, etc.). Erweiterter Temperaturbereich auf Anfrage
(mit Ausnahme von elektrischen Komponenten, die auf eine Mindesttemperatur von -15 °C beschränkt sind).

Les tolérances pour les fluctuations de tension de la fréquence du réseau sont conformes aux dispositions de la norme

Tous les treuils électriques font partie de la classe de protection IP55. Tous les treuils électriques sont conçus pour une ligne de 16 A.
Exception : X 2058 P, ce treuil est conçu pour une ligne de 32 A. Le dispositif de protection contre les surcharges de courant installé
par le client doit être choisi en fonction de la ligne.
L'utilisation à une altitude de plus de 1 000 m ou à des températures de plus de 40° C peut influencer la puissance du moteur et
réduire la durée de marche du moteur.
Plage de température ambiante de service : En fonction des conditions ambiantes (température ambiante, exposition à la lumière du
soleil, etc.) et de l'évacuation de la chaleur possible sur le site (saleté, accumulation de chaleur, etc.). Extension de la plage de
température sur demande (hors composants électriques limités à une température minimale de -15 ° C).

Alle elektrische lieren beschikken over veiligheidsklasse IP55. Alle elektrische lieren zijn geschikt voor 16A-aansluitleidingen.
Uitgezonderd: X 2058 P,deze lier is geschikt voor 32A-aansluitleidingen. De overstroombeveiliging op locatie moet overeenkomstig de
desbetreffende aansluitleiding worden gemonteerd.
De prestatie- en werkingscyclus van de motoren kan worden beïnvloed bij gebruik op hoogten boven 1000 m of temperaturen boven
40 °C.
Bereik werkomgevingstemperatuur: Afhankelijk van de omgevingsfactoren (omgevingstemperatuur, zonnestraling etc.) en van de
mogelijke warmteafvoer (vuil, warmtestuwing etc.). Uitgebreid temperatuurbereik op aanvraag (met uitzondering van elektrische
componenten begrensd tot een minimale temperatuur van -15°C).

1.1 Terms and abbreviations used in this manual
The terms used in this instruction manual have the following meanings:
System / Machine
Pursuant to the Machine Directive 2006/42/EC lifting equipment, hoist, safety equipment and suspension rig for lifting are regarded as
machines. The term "system" or "machine" also describes the device in which the unit described here will be fitted.
System manufacturer
The system manufacturer is the company marketing the system and all of the required components. The system manufacturer is
responsible for the design, manufacturing, assembly and marketing.
Suspension rig
Suspended rig consists of equipment which does not belong to the hoist and which creates a connection between the carrying means
and the load or the carrying means and the load lifting equipment (e.g. wire rope loops, round slings, shackles, swivel hooks, eye
hooks, diverter pulleys).
Anchoring point
Part of the on-site suspended construction to which the suspension wire rope, the safety wire rope, diverter pulleys and the hoist are
anchored separately.
Operating company
The operating company is responsible for the correct operation of the system as well as to adhering to the maintenance periods.
Operating personnel
Appointed persons who have undergone the appropriate advanced training for working at heights and who, due to their knowledge and
practical experience, are in the position to perform the required operating tasks when provided with the necessary instructions.

Operating hours
The operating hours are the effective running time upwards and downwards.
Electrician
An electrician is someone who possesses sufficient knowledge or has obtained the required qualification through training in order to
recognize the risks and avoid the dangers that can occur when working with electricity.
Total suspended load
Static load imposed on the suspension point(s) of a suspension rig comprising the rated load of the platform, the self-weight of the
platform, the ancillary equipment, the wire ropes and the electric cable, if any.
Hoist / machine for lifting loads
Device or equipment consisting of a device with load carrying means for lifting or transporting loads (e.g. wire rope hoist or wire rope
hoist with wire rope and swivel hook).
Customer / end customer
The customer or end customer is the system manufacturer's customer and can also be the operator.
Load lifting equipment
A component or piece of equipment which does not belong to the hoist, which enables the load to be grasped and which is attached
between the machine and the load or to the load itself, or is intended to be an integral component of the load. Suspension rig and its
components are also regarded as load lifting equipment.
Working load limit
Maximum load that a piece of equipment is authorized to sustain as designated by the manufacturer. The working load limit is
specified on the nameplate.
Rated load
Rated load of persons and equipment that a suspended platform has been designated to carry by the manufacturer. If reeving is used
according to the block and tackle principle, then the rated load may exceed the working load limit. However, the working load limit must
never be exceeded by using reeving.
Fall arrest device
A device for stopping the load lifting equipment in the event of the suspension wire rope snapping or a malfunction, e.g. drive
malfunction.
Actuation
The fall arrest device is triggered (safety stop situation) by manual actuation or uncontrolled actuation resulting from vibrations.
SAFETY-STOP
The fall arrest device is triggered (safety stop situation, e.g.overspeed) in the event of a suspension cable rupture or a hoist
malfunction.
Temporary suspended platform (TSAE)
Suspended platform that is portion of a suspended access assembly to carry persons and their equipment.
Specialist
An appointed person who has undergone the appropriate training and who, due to his knowledge and practical experience, is able to
safely perform the required work when provided with the necessary instructions.
Products in contact with the wire rope
Products in contact with the wire rope include hoists, diverter pulleys, fall arrest devices and other products that the wire rope runs
through or is in contact with.
Carrying means
The carrying means is equipment connected to the hoist for attaching load lifting equipment, suspension rig or loads (e.g. a hook
permanently attached to the suspension rope).
Maintenance personnel
A service technician appointed by and trained by Tractel with a valid certificate, who is capable of safely performing the required
annual safety inspection and maintenance and service work when provided with the required instructions.

2 Safety
2.1 General safety instructions
DANGER!
Danger of severe injuries caused by malfunctions, incorrect use and incorrect operation!
– You must abide by the following instructions in order to ensure safe operation and correct functioning of the equipment!
– Please observe the special safety instructions for all of the work to be performed as described in the individual chapters in
this manual.
– Never use faulty or damaged products, accessories or suspension rigs.
– Never use wire ropes that are not the specified original wire ropes or approved for this hoist by the manufacturer Tractel. Abide by
the details about the wire rope type and diameter.
– Wire rope and products in contact with the wire rope and suspension rig must not be soiled by heavily soiling building materials
such as concrete, epoxy resin or other adhesive materials. Protect the products against soiling! Always use brushes to clean the
wire rope in an extremely dirty environment.
– If sand-blasting or painting work is carried out in the vicinity of the hoist, cover the hoists so that the effectiveness of the brake is
not impaired.
– Abide by the wire rope's withdrawal criteria, see § 8.
– Clean regularly.
– Check that all of the screw connections are tight.

– Never use a high pressure cleaner to clean the wire rope or products in contact with the wire rope! Penetrating moisture will result
in malfunctions and damage to mechanical installations (e.g. brakes, ball bearings) and the electrical equipment.
– Dirt on the wire rope will result in premature wear or the corrosion of the wire rope, suspension rig and products in contact with
the wire rope.
– Do not lubricate the wire rope using a lubricant that contains disulfide (e.g. Molycote®).
– You must abide by the safety specification sheets issued by the manufacturer of the lubricant being used.
– Abide by the instructions concerning transport, storage and cleaning listed on page 57.
– The anchoring devices must comply with the instructions given in this manual or the applicable directives / standards.
– The rated load limit must never be exceeded.
– During operation, do not try to touch or reach non-visible areas that are close to the hoist.
– Motors can become hot whilst working. Never touch the motors.
– Working outdoors during lightning or a storm is prohibited. Danger of lightning strikes or the load being tipped over by gusts of
wind.
– Local climate and weather conditions must always be taken into consideration during the planning stages: If in doubt, you must
request the weather and wind forecast from the meteorological office before beginning work.
– Operation without plugs on the motor cover (see Illustration 23) is prohibited. Moisture can impair the effectiveness of the brake.
Risk of injury on the exposed motor shaft.
– Maintenance and repair work must only be undertaken by trained and certified maintenance personnel, see § 8.1.
– Self-locking nuts must never be reused and they must always be exchanged for new ones.
– Only qualified personnel who have been trained on the system are permitted to install and operate it in compliance with the
instructions given in this instruction manual.
– Only qualified electricians are permitted to undertake work on the electrical equipment in accordance with the electro technical
standards, rules and regulations.
– The electric connection must be implemented as described in § 6.2.1 in order to avoid electrical hazards.
– Never stand beneath suspended loads. Isolate the dangerous area whenever necessary. Support and secure caught or jammed
loads.
– Never grasp the wire rope while the machine is operating.
– Hearing protection may be necessary, depending on how the hoist is installed.
– The load must be guided by on-site means. If the load cannot be guided by on-site means then a rotation-resistant wire rope with
a swivel hook or a rope swivel must be used. Swivel hook and rope swivel must turn freely when subjected to loads.
– When performing welding work the national safety and accident prevention regulations must be observed.
– Never reach into the inlet or outlet of wire rope contacting devices whilst the machine is operating. There is a risk of being pulled
in and crushed.
– Installation and setup of the remote control only by qualified persons.
– Do not open the housing of the remote control unless you are qualified.
– Keep connecting contacts and antenna clean.
– Do not use the remote control if casing or protective film are damaged.
– In § 13, you will find an overview of possible limit switches. Please mark which limit switch is included in your scope of delivery.
This overview saves you unnecessary work steps when performing functional tests on the limit switch.
– The operating company is also responsible for preparing clear operating, maintenance, repair and other work instructions and
must ensure that the unit is operated correctly by instructing and training the personnel in the correct and approved utilization
methods.
2.2 Instructions for the operating company
– The owner is responsible for the creation of an emergency rescue plan and for the provision of information concerning this to all
equipment operators / supervisors. The emergency rescue plan must be specified in writing and kept together with this operation
manual.
– The operating company as an employer is responsible for training its personnel in all of the measures set out in the emergency
rescue plan under safe conditions.

– If more than one person is entrusted with the tasks mentioned above then the operator must appoint a supervisor who is
authorized to issue instructions.
– Attached warning signs and information signs must be readable at all times. Missing or illegible warning signs and information
signs must be replaced immediately.
– A minimum weight is always required for an emergency controlled descent
– The operating company or the system manufacturer must ensure that the rated load can be traversed against the static friction in
a manual emergency controlled descent situation (e.g. if the wire rope is reeved) and that the maximum working load is not
exceeded.
– The operating company is responsible for the correct operation of the system as well as to adhering to the maintenance periods.
– The operating company must maintain a logbook. The logbook can be included in the scope of delivery upon request.
– EU Directive 89/391/EEC (Workplace Health and Safety Directive) applies within the European Union. You must always abide by
your country's national accident prevention regulations.
– You must provide suitable protective equipment such as safety gloves, hearing protectors and a fall prevention system. Protection
against extreme weather conditions (e.g. sun protection, protection against cold) are also considered to be part of the personal
protective equipment.
– This instruction manual and the instruction manuals for all of the accessory parts must be handed out to all of the authorized
personnel. The documents must be available at all times.
– As TRACTEL does not know the applications that the product described here will be used for in the future, the operating company
is therefore committed to informing their personnel about any new safety instructions as well as any supplementary maintenance
work.
– Always ensure that the workplace is sufficiently lighted.
– The operating company is responsible for selecting the anchoring method and suitable rigging options.
– The anchoring devices must comply with the instructions given in this manual or the applicable directives / standards.
– Safe operation is not guaranteed if non-original spare parts are used. This applies, in particular, to the use of wire ropes other
than the original wire ropes approved by Tractel for the application. Guarantee claims against the manufacturer will be invalidated
and this will also invalidate the CE approval for any product holding this approval.
– Adhere to the permitted temperature range, see Illustration 1.
2.3 System manufacturer's responsibilities
– The system manufacturer is responsible for the design, manufacture, assembly and marketing as well as obtaining the CE type
test examination and issuing the EU Declaration of Conformity
– The products contained in the package supplied by Tractel must be used in the approved manner and installed in compliance with
the instructions given in this assembly and operation manual.
– The information and notes contained in these assembly and operating instructions must be integrated into the system
manufacturer's operating manuals and documentation (incl. all system specific details: e.g. blockages and malfunction
procedures).
– If necessary, a test report must be included, in which the static and dynamic tests that were run are described in detail.
– Instructions regarding the maintenance intervals of the product and its accessories must be integrated in the system's
maintenance manual.
– The screw connections for anchoring the hoist must be carefully chosen to fit the structural design of the operating site.

3.3 Equipment description
3.3.1 Intended use
Hoist
The hoist is intended for lifting and lowering temporarily installed suspended access equipment for persons and their equipment.
The hoist is operated by an electric motor. Operation is carried out on-site via a control unit.
The hoist must only be used with an original wire rope approved for the application by the manufacturer Tractel. The diameter of the
wire rope is specified in this manual and on the nameplate.
Hoists for manual emergency operation with hand crank may only be operated with the hand crank in emergencies (power failure,
rescue).
The wire rope is inserted on the motor side. This corresponds to the load side of the wire rope. The outfeed of the wire rope is the
loadless side of the wire rope. This loadless side of the wire rope may be loaded with a maximum of 100 kg (e.g. by pre-tensioning the
wire rope).
Temporary suspended platforms (TSAE) must be equipped with a fall arrest device, which secures the load, for example, on a safety
wire rope against falling.
Product purpose
The product is not intended for private use.
The precise intended use will be defined by the operator or the equipment manufacturer.

Swivel pulleys, hooks, shackles and eyes and other optional carrying devices belonging to the product are only to be used together
with this product.
The load must be guided by on-site means.
If the load cannot be guided by on-site means then a rotation-resistant wire rope with a swivel hook or a rope swivel must be used.
Swivel hook and rope swivel must turn freely when subjected to loads.
Health and safety requirements
Tractel declares that the machine described in this instruction manual complies with technological safety standards that were
applicable to the equipment in the European Union when it was launched on the market by the manufacturer.
Test reports (test certificates) are included with the product. The static and the dynamic tests are described in detail in the test reports.
The hoist is equipped with a mechanical load limiting device. When delivered, the overload can be adjusted on request in accordance
with the order specification for the planned use but will never exceed 1.25 x WLL. The setting of the load limiting device must be
checked in the scope of the annual safety inspection of the hoist.
The putting into service of the machine is prohibited unless the machine in which the tirak™hoist is installed complies as a whole with
the regulations of the 2006/42/EC Directive and the local regulations.
A conformity evaluation process must be run by the system manufacturer on machines used for man riding or man riding and material
handling (Directive 2006/42/EC). The harmonized standard EN 1808 must also be taken into account when inspecting the equipment.
3.3.2 Guarantee and liability exclusions
See § 7.8.
Any use other than the intended use described here will be considered as unauthorized. Tractel does not accept any liability for
damages resulting from unauthorized use. The operator must assume sole responsibility in this case. Abiding by all of the instructions
given in this instruction manual, in particular the assembly and maintenance regulations, are also considered part of authorized use.
3.3.3 Application areas
The product is suitable for use under the following operating conditions:

3.3.4 Structural requirements
Anchoring point
The structural equipment to be used for attaching the product must be designed in compliance with the applicable Directives and
standards.
The application's total suspended load must be taken into account regarding the design of the suspended construction. The total
suspended load is the actual suspended static load, which is made up of the rated load, the load lifting equipment's own weight, the
additional fittings, the wire ropes and the control and connection cords.
