Troubleshooting
If a problem occurs with your StoreJet™2.5 SATA,please first check the information listed below before
taking your StoreJet™2.5 SATA for repair. If you are unable to remedy a problem from the following hints,
please consult your dealer, service center, or local Transcend branch office. We also have FAQ and
Support services on our websites.
Software CD cannot auto-run in Windows®
Go to the Device Manager in the Control Panel and enable the Auto-Insert function of the CD-ROM
drive. Alternatively, you can manually run the “StoreJet.EXE” file on the Software CD.
Operating system cannot detect the StoreJet™2.5 SATA
Check the following:
1. Is your StoreJet™2.5 SATA properly connected to the USB port? If not, unplug it and plug it in again.
If it is properly connected, try using another available USB port.
2. Are you using the USB cable(s) that came in the StoreJet™2.5 SATA pack? If not, try using the
Transcend USB cable(s) to connect the StoreJet™to the computer.
3. The StoreJet™2.5 SATA is powered directly via a computer USB port however, the power supplied by
the USB port on some computers is below the required 5V DC power. In this instance, please connect
the supplied USB Power Adapter Cable to the StoreJet™2.5 SATA and a USB port on the computer,
this will provide the additional power necessary to run the drive.
4. Is your StoreJet™2.5 SATA connected to the Mac™keyboard? If yes, unplug it and plug it into an
available USB port on your Mac™Desktop.
5. Is the USB port enabled? If not, refer to the user’s manual of your computer (or motherboard) to enable
it.
6. Is the necessary driver installed? If your computer is using Windows98SE, you must insert the Driver
CD into the CD-ROM and refer to the “Driver Installation for Windows®98SE” section to complete
the driver installation before using your StoreJet™2.5 SATA. A driver is not required for Windows
ME/2000/XP, Mac™OS 9.0, or later and Linux™Kernel 2.4, or later.
FAT32 Volume size limitation
If you are using a StoreJet™2.5 SATA with a hard drive that is bigger than 30GBs you will need to
Partition the units’ drive, the reason for this is a Microsoft Windows OS limitation, which cannot format a
volume larger than 32GBs in size using the FAT32 file system. To accomplish partitioning the drive you will
need to format StoreJet™2.5 SATA for the NTFS file system.
Cannot Power ON
The StoreJet™2.5 SATA is powered directly by the USB port on the Computer. However, the power
supplied by the USB port on some older computers is below the required 5V DC power. In this instance,
please connect the USB Power Adapter Cable to the StoreJet™2.5 SATA and a USB port on the computer,
this will provide the additional power necessary to run the drive. Check the following:
1. Check that your StoreJet™2.5 SATA is properly connected to the USB port on the computer.
2. Check that the USB port is working properly. If not, try using an alternative USB port.
3. Try connecting the USB Power Adapter cable to the StoreJet™2.5 SATA and to a USB port on the
computer, this will provide additional power to the StoreJet™2.5 SATA.
