• Carefullyunpack thecontentsof theStoreJet 25package.
• Duringoperation,avoidexposingyourStoreJet25toextremetemperaturesabove55 ,
or below5 .
• Donot drop yourStoreJet 25.
• Donot allowyour StoreJet 25tocomeincontactwithwater oranyother liquids.
• Donot use adamp/wet clothtowipe or clean the exterior case.
• Donotstoreyour StoreJet 25inanyof thefollowing environments:
o Direct sunlight
o Next toanair conditioner, electricheaterorotherheat sources
o Inaclosed carthatisindirectsunlight
o Inanareawithstrongmagneticfields or excessivevibration

regularlybackupthedatatoacomputer, or otherstoragemedium.

Transporting
• DonotpackyourStoreJet25 intoluggagewithouttheproperpaddedsupport.Other
itemsinthe luggagemaydamageyourStoreJet25 ifitdoes nothavethe proper
protection.
• Avoidsqueezingyour StoreJet25 (topreventdamagetothe internalHDD).
• Avoidplacingobjectsontoyour StoreJet25 (toprevent compression damage).
Power
• The StoreJet25 ispowered directlyviaacomputerUSB port.However, the power
supplied bythe USB porton someoldercomputersisbelowthe5VDCrequiredto
powerthe StoreJet25.Inthisinstance,please connectthesparelargeconnectorof the
provided USB Ycabletoasecond USB portonthe computer,thiswillprovide the
additionalpower necessarytorun the drive.

• Please use the MiniUSB toUSB A-Type cablethatcamewiththe StoreJet25 to
connectit toacomputer,andalwaysensurethatthecableyou areusing isingood
condition. NEVER useacablethatisfrayed or damaged.
• EnsurenothingisrestingontheUSB cableandthatthecableisnot locatedwhereit can
be tripped over orsteppedon.
Reminders
Alwaysfollowthe procedures inthe “Disconnecting fromaComputer”section toremovethe
StoreJet fromyour computer.

DriverInstallation forWindows2000, XPand WindowsVista
Nodriversarerequired.TheseWindows®Operating Systemshavebuilt-indriverstosupportthe
StoreJet25.PlugyourStoreJetintoanavailableUSB portandWindowswill install thenecessary
files.Anew LocalDisk drivewithanewlyassigned driveletterrepresentingthe StoreJet25 will
appear inthe MyComputer window.
DriverInstallation forMac OS 9.0, orLater
Nodriversarerequired.PlugyourStoreJet25 intoan availableUSB port and yourcomputerwill
automaticallydetect it.

1. First createadirectoryforthe StoreJet25.
Example: mkdir/mnt/Storejet
2. Then,mounttheStoreJet 25.
Example: mount –a –tmsdos/dev/sda1 /mnt/Storejet

Connecting toaComputer
Ifyou wanttousetheStoreJet25as anexternalharddrivetoupload/download datatoandfrom
your computer, you willneed toconnect it toaUSB port on the computer usingtheprovided USB
Y-cable.

1. Plugthe small end oftheUSB Y-cableintothe MiniUSB porton the StoreJet 25.
2. Plugthelargeendofthe cableintoanavailableUSB port onyourdesktop,ornotebook
computer.
*Onsomeoldercomputers,the powersupplied by the USBport isbelowthe required 5VDC
power.Inthisinstance,please connectthe sparelargeconnectoronthe provided USBY-cable
toasecondUSB portonthe computer.Thiswillprovide the additionalpowernecessarytorun
the drive.

3. WhentheStoreJet25 issuccessfullyconnected toacomputer, the StoreJetsPowerLED will
lightup,anew LocalDisk drivewithanewly-assigneddriveletterwill appearinthe My
Computer window,and aRemovableHardwareicon will appearon theWindowsSystem
Tray. The StoreJet25sinternalharddrivecomespre-formattedfor FAT32.

4. Once connected,you canuse the StoreJet25 asan externalharddrivetotransferdatatoand
fromyourcomputer. Simplydrag and dropfiles or foldersontothe LocalDisk driveletterthat
representsthe StoreJet 25.
5. Ifyou haveinstalled thebundled StoreJet elite software,you can pressthe StoreJet25s
OneTouch “BackupButton”toinstantlybackupyourdata(see theStoreJet elite Software
User sManualfor details).
