Basic Functions Using the Thermostat
IfyouhaveneverconnectedyourTrickleStarThermostattothePortal,yourThermostatwillworkasa
simplenon-programmablethermostat.YoucanmanuallysetthebasicfunctionssuchasSystem,Fan,
ModeandSetpointTemperatureontheThermostatusingtheJogdialandSidebutton.Youcancheck
thelistoffeatureswhichtheThermostatcanperformbyreferringto“FeatureList”frompages50 to
56.
NotethatyoucanonlysetorviewtheadvancedfeaturessuchasscheduleviathePortalorApp.

Configuration
AfteryouhaveinstalledtheThermostatandcompletedtheStart-UpConfiguration,youcanstill
changetheconfigurationforyoursystem.Whenyouchangetheconfiguration,theThermostatwill
automaticallyuploadthechangestoyourPortalaccount,ifyouhaveone.
Enter Configuration Mode
PresstheSidebuttonfor10secondsto
entertheConfigurationMode.

Step 01 - Wi-Fi Provisioning
Thisdisplayappearsif:
1)YourThermostathasneverbeen
connectedtothePortal.Youcanconnect
yourThermostattothePortal,orpressthe
JogdialorSidebuttontoskipthisstep.
2)YourThermostathasbeenconnectedto
thePortalbuthaslostconnectionwiththe
PortalafterSystemReset.Checkyour
routerandreconnecttothePortal.
3)YourThermostathasbeenfactoryresetor
Wi-Fisettinghasbeenreset
Step 02 - Select Your HVAC System
1.RotatetheJogdialtoselect:
•“HC”forconventionalsystem.
•“HP”forheatpumpsystem.
2.PresstheJogdialortheSidebuttonto
confirmyourselection.
Note: To reconnect your Thermostat to the Portal, select "Devices", then click on your "Device
Name". Select "Settings", then click "Info and Time Zone". At “Connected Network (SSID)”, click
“Configure”. Follow the steps to reconnect your Thermostat to the Portal.

Step 04 - Select Heat Pump Reversing
Valve Option
1.RotatetheJogdialtoselect:
•“o”forasysteminwhichthereversingvalve
isenergizedincooling.
•“b”forasysteminwhichthereversingvalve
isenergizedinheating.
2.PresstheJogdialortheSidebuttonto
confirmyourselection.
Step 03 - Select Fan Control Option
1.RotatetheJogdialtoselect:
•“HG”forgasheating.
•“HE”forelectricheating.
2.PresstheJogdialorSidebuttontoconfirm
yourselection.

Step 05 - Test the Connection of Each
Output
Thisstephelpsyoutocheckiftheoutput
terminalswereconnectedcorrectlyandsecurely.
Duringtheconnectiontest,checkifyourHVAC
equipmentconnectedtotherespectiveoutput
terminalisturnedon.
1. RotatetheJogdialclockwisetoturnonthe
outputasfollows:
AfteryourotatetheJogdial,theremaybeafew
secondsdelaybeforetheHVACequipmentturnson.

ThermostatwillenterNormalOperationandyou
willseethisdisplayontheThermostat.
Note: If you want to test the connection of the output again, you need to restart the configuration.
Press the Side button for 10 seconds to enter the Configuration Mode.

BeforeyouadjusttheTemperature,selecttheSystem.RotatetheJogdialclockwisetoincrease
thetemperatureandcounterclockwisetoreducethetemperature.Onceyouhaveselectedthe
Temperaturetheindicatorwillflashinthedisplay.TheThermostatwillautomaticallysavethesetting
after5seconds,oryoucanpresstheJogdialorSidebuttontosaveyoursetting.
IncreaseTemperature ReduceTemperature
Note:
