Basic Functions Using the Thermostat
IfyouhaveneverconnectedyourTrickleStarThermostattothePortal,yourThermostatwillworkasa
simplenon-programmablethermostat.YoucanmanuallysetthebasicfunctionssuchasSystem,Fan,
ModeandSetpointTemperatureontheThermostatusingtheJogdialandSidebutton.Youcancheck
thelistoffeatureswhichtheThermostatcanperformbyreferringto“FeatureList”frompages50 to
56.
NotethatyoucanonlysetorviewtheadvancedfeaturessuchasscheduleviathePortalorApp.

Configuration
AfteryouhaveinstalledtheThermostatandcompletedtheStart-UpConfiguration,youcanstill
changetheconfigurationforyoursystem.Whenyouchangetheconfiguration,theThermostatwill
automaticallyuploadthechangestoyourPortalaccount,ifyouhaveone.
Enter Configuration Mode
PresstheSidebuttonfor10secondsto
entertheConfigurationMode.

Step 01 - Wi-Fi Provisioning
Thisdisplayappearsif:
1)YourThermostathasneverbeen
 connectedtothePortal.Youcanconnect
 yourThermostattothePortal,orpressthe
 JogdialorSidebuttontoskipthisstep.
2)YourThermostathasbeenconnectedto
 thePortalbuthaslostconnectionwiththe
 PortalafterSystemReset.Checkyour
 routerandreconnecttothePortal.
3)YourThermostathasbeenfactoryresetor
 Wi-Fisettinghasbeenreset
Step 02 - Select Your HVAC System
1.RotatetheJogdialtoselect:
•“HC”forconventionalsystem.
•“HP”forheatpumpsystem.
2.PresstheJogdialortheSidebuttonto 
 confirmyourselection.
Note: To reconnect your Thermostat to the Portal, select "Devices", then click on your "Device
Name". Select "Settings", then click "Info and Time Zone". At “Connected Network (SSID)”, click
“Configure”. Follow the steps to reconnect your Thermostat to the Portal.

Step 04 - Select Heat Pump Reversing
Valve Option
1.RotatetheJogdialtoselect:
•“o”forasysteminwhichthereversingvalve
  isenergizedincooling.
•“b”forasysteminwhichthereversingvalve
  isenergizedinheating.
2.PresstheJogdialortheSidebuttonto
 confirmyourselection.
Step 03 - Select Fan Control Option
1.RotatetheJogdialtoselect:
•“HG”forgasheating.
•“HE”forelectricheating.
2.PresstheJogdialorSidebuttontoconfirm
 yourselection.

Step 05 - Test the Connection of Each
Output
Thisstephelpsyoutocheckiftheoutput
terminalswereconnectedcorrectlyandsecurely.
Duringtheconnectiontest,checkifyourHVAC
equipmentconnectedtotherespectiveoutput
terminalisturnedon.
1. RotatetheJogdialclockwisetoturnonthe
 outputasfollows:
AfteryourotatetheJogdial,theremaybeafew
secondsdelaybeforetheHVACequipmentturnson.

willseethisdisplayontheThermostat.
Note: If you want to test the connection of the output again, you need to restart the configuration.
Press the Side button for 10 seconds to enter the Configuration Mode.

BeforeyouadjusttheTemperature,selecttheSystem.RotatetheJogdialclockwisetoincrease
thetemperatureandcounterclockwisetoreducethetemperature.Onceyouhaveselectedthe
Temperaturetheindicatorwillflashinthedisplay.TheThermostatwillautomaticallysavethesetting
after5seconds,oryoucanpresstheJogdialorSidebuttontosaveyoursetting.
IncreaseTemperature ReduceTemperature
Note:
•If your Thermostat is not connected to the Portal, the Setpoint Temperature you selected is used
until you manually change the setting again.
•If your Thermostat is connected to the Portal and you have set a daily schedule, the
