Errors and faults
The device has been checked for proper functioning several
times during production. If malfunctions occur nonetheless,
check the device according to the following list.
The device does not start:
• Check the power connection.
• Check the power cable and mains plug for damage.
• Check the on-site fusing.
• Check whether the water tank indicator light is illuminated.
The water tank might be empty and need refilling.
• Wait for 10minutes before restarting the device. If the
device is not starting, have the electrics checked by a
specialist company or by Trotec.
The device is running, but there is no formation of mist:
• Check whether the water tank indicator light is illuminated.
The water tank might be empty and need refilling.
• Check the valve in the bottom of the water tank. The valve
must be able to move freely. Clean the water tank if
required.
• Check the float in the lower part of the device. The float
should be able to move freely.
• Check the air filter for dirt. Clean the air filter if required.
• Check the nebulizer intensity setting and increase it if
required.
• Check the nebulizer membrane in the lower part of the
device for dirt and clean it if required.
The water tank is full, but the device indicates an empty
water tank:
• Heavy deposits on the filter may prevent the water from
flowing from the water tank into the bottom section. This
can occur if the device has been out of use for a long time.
Clean the filter as described in the “Cleaning the filter”
section.
• Check the valve in the bottom of the water tank. The valve
must be able to move freely. Clean the valve and water
tank if required.
Water is leaking:
• Check whether the device is set up in a stable and upright
position.
• Check the water level in the lower part of the device. The
water level might be too high and water is discharged via
the overflow.
• Check the valve in the bottom of the water tank. The valve
must be able to move freely. If required, clean the valve as
described in the “Cleaning the valve unit” section.
• Check the float in the lower part of the device. The float
should be able to move freely. It may block and cause
water to be discharged via the overflow.

10 EN
humidifier B 3 E / B 4 E
• Check the device for leaks.
The water mist has a peculiar smell:
• The device is new. Remove and rinse the water tank. Let
the open water tank air for some hours.
• Check the water tank. There may be stale or dirty water in
the water tank. Rinse the water tank and fill it with clear
drinking water.
Condensate forms on the device:
• The air circulation in the room is insufficient. If necessary,
reduce the nebulizer intensity and provide better air
circulation (e.g. using a fan).
• The room's humidity level is quite high. This makes it
difficult for the mist to distribute and leads to water
condensing on the device. If necessary, reduce the
nebulizer intensity or switch off the device.
The device is loud or vibrates heavily:
• Check whether the device is set up in a stable and upright
position.
The device still does not operate correctly after these
checks:
Please contact the customer service. If necessary, bring the
device to an authorised specialist electrical company or to
Trotec for repair.

Warning of electrical voltage
Do not touch the mains plug with wet or damp hands.
• Switch the device off.
• Hold onto the mains plug while pulling the power cable out
of the mains socket.
Warning of electrical voltage
Tasks which require the device to be opened must
only be carried out by authorised specialist
companies or by Trotec.
Safety signs and labels on the device
Check the safety signs and labels attached to the device at
regular intervals. Replace illegible safety signs!
Cleaning the housing
Clean the housing with a soft, damp and lint-free cloth. Make
sure that no moisture enters the housing. Protect electrical
components from moisture. Do not use any aggressive cleaning
agents such as cleaning sprays, solvents, alcohol-based or
abrasive cleaners to dampen the cloth.
Cleaning the water tank and bottom section
Info
Use the SecoSan®Stick by Trotec to provide protection
from germs in the water. The SecoSan®Stick prevents
the reproduction of germs by means of silver ions. Due
to the special, antimicrobial surface, the silver ions are
emitted to the immediate proximity of bacteria and
germs. This way, microbial growth can be effectively
prevented– at the same time, the water remains pure
and uncontaminated. The dosage of the SecoSan ®
Stick is carried out automatically.
Info
Clean the nebulizer membrane, air outlet, water tank,
the bottom section of the device and the water lines as
often as possible.
The water tank and the bottom section of the device should be
cleaned every3days if used actively. Use household vinegar as
cleaning/descaling agent. Observe the manufacturer's
specifications and hazard warnings of the descaling agent.
Before a longer period of non-use or storage the water tank and
the bottom section of the device should be drained.

Cleaning the nebulizer membrane
Depending on the hardness of the drinking water used, deposits
may form on the nebulizer membrane over time. These could
affect the nebulizer performance. Therefore, the nebulizer
membrane should be cleaned on a regular basis.
To do so, please proceed as follows:
1. Remove the top section with water tank(4) as described in
the “Cleaning the water tank” section.
2. Remove any residual water from the inside of the device.
3. Wet the nebulizer membrane(11) with household
vinegar(descaling agent).
4. Let the descaling agent act for approx.2 to 5min.
5. Carefully remove the deposits from the nebulizer
membrane(11) using a cotton bud.
11
6. Rinse the inside of the device with clear water.
7. Refit the water tank(4) as described in Cleaning the water
tank.
Cleaning the valve unit
Depending on the hardness of the drinking water used, deposits
may form on the valve unit over time. This may impair the valve
unit and cause uncontrolled water discharge from the water
tank to the bottom section or result in a blocked water drainage.
Therefore, the valve unit should be cleaned on a regular basis.
To do so, please proceed as follows:
üThe device is completely drained and switched off.
üThe power cable is unplugged.
1. Remove the cover of the water filter(9) as described in the
“Cleaning the water filter” section.
2. Turn the water tank(4) so that the valve unit(10) is readily
accessible (bottom side of water tank).
3. Turn the outlet of the valve unit in counter-clockwise
direction so that the valve unit detaches from the water
tank. This position is marked with an open lock on the
bottom side of the water tank.
4
10

14 EN
humidifier B 3 E / B 4 E
4. Remove the valve unit(10) and check it for dirt and
limescale deposits. Clean the valve unit with a clean, lint-
free cloth.
5. Wet the valve unit with household vinegar(descaling
agent) when it shows limescale deposits.
6. Let the descaling agent act for approx.2 to 5min.
7. Actuate the valve unit by holding the valve unit in your
hand and pushing against the membrane with your finger.
ðThe washer(28) slightly detaches from the valve unit.
10

8. Clean the inner area of the washer using a clean, lint-free
cloth.
9. Wet the washer with household vinegar(descaling agent)
when it shows limescale deposits.
10. Let the descaling agent act for approx.2 to 5min.
11. Remove the deposits by carefully treating the parts of the
valve unit with a cotton bud.
12. Mount the valve unit(10) to the water tank(4) after
cleaning and tighten it in clockwise direction.
