Information about the device
Description of the device
Using humidifier B400 the humidity level in interior spaces can
be regulated to the optimum value for art objects, pieces of
furniture or electrical appliances.
To achieve this, the water tank(9) is filled with water via the
water funnel(8). Evaporation mats(11) inside the device purify
the air, filter the water and promote the evaporation of humidity.
The desired humidity level can be adjusted using the
HYGROSTAT control dial(1). The rotation of the evaporation
mats(11) and the fan at the air inlet(10) are both automatically
switched on and off by the HYGROSTAT control dial(1). Thus the
humidity in the room is kept at the required level. The comfort
zone is reached depending on the room temperature and the
humidity level. The higher the room temperature, the more
humidification is required.
The fan at the air inlet(10) can be operated at two speed levels
by use of the FAN SPEED rotary switch(2). At full speed, the
desired humidity level can be reached faster.
If the water level inside the tank(9) falls below 2cm, the float
turns the device off and the red water tank indicator light(4)
lights up.

Transport and storage
Note
If you store or transport the device improperly, the
device may be damaged.
Note the information regarding transport and storage of
the device.

Before transporting the device, observe the following:
• Switch the device off.
• Hold onto the mains plug while pulling the power cable out
of the mains socket.
• Empty the water tank.
• Do not use the power cable to drag the device.
• Only wheel the device on a level and smooth surface.
After transporting the device, observe the following:
• Set up the device in an upright position after transport.
Storage
Before storing the device, observe the following:
• Empty the water tank.
• Use a cloth to wipe all parts of the device dry.
• Clean the device according to the Maintenance chapter.
When the device is not being used, observe the following
storage conditions:
• dry and protected from frost and heat
• in an upright position where it is protected from dust and
direct sunlight
• with a cover to protect it from invasive dust if necessary
• Place no further devices or objects on top of the device to
prevent it from being damaged.
Assembly and installation
Scope of delivery
• 1x Device
• 3 x Cover grille
• 1x Drum with evaporation mats

• Do not create tripping hazards when laying the power
cable or other electric cables, especially when positioning
the device in the middle of the room. Use cable bridges.
• Make sure that extension cables are unrolled completely.
• If possible, set the device up in the middle of a room to
ensure optimum performance. A heat source near the
device encourages its output.
• Do not set up the humidifier next to furniture, paintings and
other devices which can be damaged by humidity.
• Make sure that no curtains or other objects interfere with
the air flow.

Errors and faults
The device has been checked for proper functioning several
times during production. If malfunctions occur nonetheless,
check the device according to the following list.
The device does not start:
• Check the power connection.
• Check the power cable and mains plug for damages.
• Check the on-site fusing.
• Check whether the water tank indicator light is illuminated.
The water tank might be empty and need refilling.
• Check the setting of the desired room humidity level. If it is
below the current humidity level, the device will not start.
• Check the setting at the hygrostat's control dial. The
control dial must not be turned too war to the left, because
otherwise the device switches off. The operation indicator
light must be illuminated in green.
• Wait for 10minutes before restarting the device. If the
device is not starting, have the electrics checked by a
specialist company or by Trotec.
The device runs, but there is no humidification:
• Check evaporation mats and drum for proper seating.
• Check the fan for proper functioning or unusual vibrations
and sounds. Remove external dirt.
• Check the float inside the water tank. The float should be
able to move freely.
• Check the room temperature.
• Check evaporation mats for dirt. If necessary, clean or
replace the evaporation mats.
Water is leaking:
• Check whether the device is set up in a stable and upright
position.
• Check the water level in the water tank. The water level
might be too high and water is discharged via the
overflow.
• Check the device for leaks.
The device gives off an unpleasant odour:
• The device is new. Remove and rinse the water tank. Let
the open water tank air for some hours.
• Check the water tank. There may be stale or dirty water in
the water tank. Rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh
drinking water.
The device gets very warm, is loud or is losing
performance:
• Check the air inlets and air grilles for dirt. Remove external
dirt.
• Check the inside of the device for dirt (see chapter
Maintenance). If necessary, clean the interior of the device
using compressed air.
The device is loud or vibrates heavily:
• Check whether the device is set up in a stable and upright
position.
Note
Wait for at least 3 minutes after maintenance and
repair work. Only then switch the device back on.
Your device still does not operate correctly after these
checks?
Please contact the customer service. If necessary, bring the
device to an authorized specialist electrical company or to
Trotec for repair.
