01. Vor der Inbetriebnahme lesen
Das vorliegende Messgerät wurde nach dem heutigen Stand der
Technik gebaut und erfüllt die Anforderungen der geltenden euro-
päischen und nationalen Richtlinien. Die Konformität wurde nach-
gewiesen, die entsprechenden Erklärungen und Unterlagen sind
beim Hersteller hinterlegt.Um diesen Zustand zu erhalten und einen
gefahrlosen Betrieb sicherzustellen,müssen Sie alsAnwender diese
Bedienungsanleitung beachten!

02. Verwendungszweck
Das vorliegende Messgerät dient zur ungefähren Bestimmung des
Material- oder Holzfeuchtegehaltes nach dem Widerstandsverfah-
ren. Einsatzgebiete sind die Holzfeuchteerfassung bei Schnitt- und
Brennholz.Des Weiteren lässt sich das Messgerät zur Erfassung der
Feuchte bei weichen Baustoffen wie Gips oder Putz einsetzen.
Das Widerstandsverfahren ist eine indirekte Messmethode, bei der
über die elektrische Leitfähigkeit des Messgutes auf dessen Feuch-
tegehaltzurückgeschlossenwird.Einussgrößen,welchegeeignet
sind, die Leitfähigkeit zu verändern, zum Beispiel elektrisch leitende
Materialien oder gelöste Salze, beeinflussen somit auch unmittelbar
die ermittelten Messwerte.Deshalb sind die angezeigten Messwerte
nur als Indikator für den Feuchtegehalt anzusehen.
Verwendungshinweise für die Holzfeuchtemessung:
Zur Holzfeuchtemessung ist im Gerät eine Kalibrierkurve hinterlegt,
welche dem Durchschnitt der in Europa relevanten Holzsorten auf
Basis einer Holztemperatur von 20 °C entspricht. Daher sind für
eine schnelle ungefähre Ermittlung des Holzfeuchtegehaltes keine
weiteren Einstellungen notwendig. Sind exakte Holzfeuchtewerte
bei anderen Holztemperaturen oder unter Berücksichtigung von Art
undRohdichteeinesbestimmtenHolzesnotwendig,empehltsich
eine zusätzliche Kontrollmessung nach dem Darr-Verfahren oder
unter Verwendung eines Holzfeuchtemessgerätes mit Temperatur-
abgleichfunktionundAuswahlmöglichkeitderspezischenHolzsor-
tenkalibrierung.
Verwendungshinweise für die Materialfeuchtemessung:
Zur schnellen Ermittlung der Materialfeuchte sind keine weiteren
Einstellungen am Gerät notwendig. Bei der Beurteilung der Mess-

ergebnisse muss jedoch berücksichtigt werden, dass erhöhte Vor-
kommnisse von löslichen Salzen im Messgut das Messergebnis
verfälschen können.Je mehr Salze vorhanden sind,desto höher fällt
die Messwertanzeige aus.
Quantitative Aussagen zum Feuchtegehalt des mineralischen Mess-
gutes sind nur mit Hilfe des Darr-Verfahrens oder der CM-Methode
möglich.

04. Bedienung
Einschalten und Ausschalten
Entfernen Sie den Schutzdeckel yvon der Geräteunterseite U.
Durch diesen Vorgang schaltet sich das Gerät automatisch ein. Zum
Ausschalten stecken Sie den Schutzdeckel wieder auf die Geräteun-
terseite. Durch diesen Vorgang schaltet sich das Gerät automatisch
aus.
Automatische Abschaltung: Wird ein eingeschaltetes Gerät für
einen Zeitraum von ca. 15 Minuten für keine Messung genutzt,
schaltet sich das Gerät zur Erhöhung der Batterielebensdauer au-
tomatisch ab. Um das Gerät wieder in den Einschaltzustand zu
versetzen, drücken Sie kurz auf den Aktivierungsstift W, der zwi-
schen den Elektrodenspitzen X angebracht ist.

Messvorgang
Stellen Sie eine solide Verbindung der Elektroden mit dem Messgut
her, indem Sie die Elektrodenspitzen X fest in das Messgut eindrü-
cken.Bei Holz sind die Elektroden quer zur Faserrichtung des Holzes
einzudrücken.Wiederholen Sie gegebenenfalls den Messvorgang an
mehreren Positionen, um über das arithmetische Mittel der Ergeb-
nisse eine höhere Genauigkeit zu erzielen.
Ablesen der Messwerte
Der Feuchtegehalt wird durch die Messwertanzeige in der Mitte des
Displays angezeigt. Damit die Werte gut abgelesen werden können,
erfolgt die Messwertanzeige in Form von abwechselnd durchgehen-
den und gestrichelten Balken.
Eine Pfeilspitze am linken oder rechten Ende dieser Balken ent-
spricht dem genauen Ablesewert auf der Feuchteskala, in dessen
Richtung er zeigt.
BalkenohnePfeilentsprechenZwischenwertenaufderjeweiligen
Feuchteskala.
Die Ablesewerte auf der linken Feuchteskala dienen zur Holzfeuch-
temessung.Das Messgerät erfasst Holzfeuchtewerte im Bereich von
1 bis 45 %.
Die Ablesewerte auf der rechten Feuchteskala dienen zur Baufeuch-
temessung. Das Messgerät erfasst Baufeuchtewerte im Bereich von
0,2 bis 2,4 %.
Liegen Messwerte oberhalb des erfassbaren Messbereiches,
zeigt die Messwertanzeige am oberen Ende der bis zum gültigen
MessbereichdargestelltenAnzeigebalkenzurWarnungeingroßes
Dreieck an. Messwerte außerhalb des Messbereiches sind nicht
aussagefähig.

05. Hinweise zu Wartung und Betrieb
Funktions-Test
Um vor einer Messung sicherzustellen, dass das Messgerät ord-
nungsgemäß arbeitet, können Sie einen Funktions-Test durch-
führen. Schalten Sie hierzu das Gerät ein und platzieren Sie die
Elektrodenspitzen auf den mit T gekennzeichneten Kontaktflächen
auf der Oberseite des Schutzdeckels. Entsprechen die Anzeigewerte
denReferenzwerten,funktioniertdasMessgerätordnungsgemäß.
Referenzwerte für den Funktions-Test:
Holz-Feuchteskala...........................27%±2%
Bau-Feuchteskala........................1,25%±0,1%
Sollten die Anzeigewerte nicht den Referenzwerten entsprechen,
liegt eine Funktionsstörung vor.
Batterie-Test
Um den Status der Batterien zu überprüfen, können Sie einen Batte-
rie-Test durchführen.Schalten Sie hierzu das Gerät ein und platzieren
Sie die Elektrodenspitzen auf den mit B gekennzeichneten Kontaktflä-
chen auf der Oberseite des Schutzdeckels. Entsprechen die Anzeige-
werte den Referenzwerten,verfügen die Batterien über ihre maximale
Standzeit.Je weiterdieAnzeigewerte unterhalbderReferenzwerte
liegen, desto geringer ist die verbleibende Batteriestandzeit.

Batteriewechsel
Wenn die Batterien die notwendige Spannung zum Betrieb des Mess-
gerätes nicht mehr dauerhaft bereitstellen können, blinkt auf dem Dis-
play die Batteriestatus-Anzeige. Die Batterien sind dann verbraucht

und müssen ausgewechselt werden. Zum Wechsel der Batterien lö-
sen Sie dieVerschlussschraube des Batteriefachdeckels. Entnehmen
Sie die leeren Batterien und ersetzen diese durch neue. Achten Sie
beim Einlegen der Batterien auf die korrekte Polung und verwenden
SieausschließlichBatteriendesTypCr2032.NachEinlegenderneuen
BatterienverschließenSiedenBatteriefachdeckelwieder.WerfenSie
verbrauchte Batterien nicht in den Hausmüll, ins Feuer oder insWasser,
sondern entsorgen Sie sie fachgerecht, entsprechend der geltenden
gesetzlichen Bestimmungen.
Elektrodenwechsel
Pflege
Halten Sie das Gerät immer möglichst trocken und vermeiden Sie Ver-
schmutzungen zwischen den Elektrodenspitzen.Reinigen Sie das Gerät
bei Bedarf mit einem angefeuchteten, weichen, fusselfreien Tuch. Ach-
ten Sie darauf, dass keine Feuchtigkeit in das Gehäuse eindringt. Ver-
wenden Sie keine Sprays, Lösungsmittel, alkoholhaltigen Reiniger oder
Scheuermittel, sondern nur klares Wasser zum Anfeuchten des Tuches.
Standortwechsel
Beim Standortwechsel von kalten zu warmen Umgebungsbedingun-
gen (und umgekehrt) kann dies zu Kondensatbildung auf der Lei-
terplatine des Gerätes führen. Dieser physikalische Effekt, der sich
konstruktionsseitig bei keinem Messgerät verhindern lässt, führt zu
falschen Messwerten. In Abhängigkeit der Höhe der Temperaturdif-
ferenzen benötigt das Gerät eine „Akklimatisierungszeit“ von ca. 15
- 30 Minuten, bevor der Messvorgang fortzgesetzt werden kann.

02. Purpose of use
Thisinstrumentprovidesanapproximatedeterminationofthematerial
or wood moisture content applying the resistance method. Areas of
use include the recording of wood moisture levels in cut timber and
rewood.Inadditiontheinstrumentcanbeusedtorecordmoisture
in soft building materials such as cement or plaster. The resistance
method is an indirect method of measurement enabling conclusions
to be drawn from the material’s electrical conductivity concerning
its moisture content.Variables that are able to alter conductivity, for
example electrically conducting materials or dissolved salts, can
thus have an immediate effect on the measured data determined.
For this reason the measured values displayed are only to be seen
as an indication of the moisture content.
Notes for use when measuring wood moisture levels:
For the measurement of wood moisture levels, a calibration curve
is stored in the instrument, which corresponds to the average of
relevanttypesofwoodinEuropeatawoodtemperatureof20°C.No
furtheradjustmentsarethereforenecessaryforarapidandappro-
ximate determination of the wood moisture content. If exact wood
moisture levels at other wood temperatures, or taking into conside-
ration the type and green density of a particular type of wood, are
required, we recommend an additional control measurement apply-
ing the kiln dry ing method,or use of a wood moisture measurement
device with a temperature compensation function and the option to
selectaspeciccalibrationforthetypeofwoodinquestion.
Notes for use when measuring material moisture levels:
For the rapid determination of material moisture no further adjust-
ments to the instrument are required. In the assessment of the mea-

sured results it must however be taken into account that increased
levels of soluble salts present in the material can falsify the results
obtained.
The higher the level of salts, the higher the measured values. Exact
statements on the moisture content of materials containing mine-
rals are only possible by applying the kiln drying method or the CM
method.

04. Operation
Switching on and off
Remove the protective cover yfrom the lower face of the instru-
ment U. This procedure automatically switches the instrument on.
To switch off replace the protective cover on the lower face of the
instrument. By means of this procedure the instrument automati-
cally switches itself off.
Automatic switch off: If an instrument that is switched on is not
used for any measurement within a period of approx. 15 minutes,
the instrument automatically switches itself off to preserve battery
life. In order to bring the instrument back into the switched-on
state, push briefly on the activation pin W thatisttedbetween
the electrode pins X.

Measurement procedure
Create a solid connection between the electrodes and the material
by pushing the electrode pins X securely into the material. In the
case of wood the electrodes should be pressed in at right angles
to the grain of the wood. Repeat the measurement procedure at
a number of positions as necessary in order to achieve a higher
accuracy from the arithmetic mean of the results.
Reading off the measured values
The moisture content is given by the measured value display in the
centre of the display screen. In order that values can be read off
easily, the measured value display takes the form of bars that are
alternately continuous and subdivided.
An arrowhead at the left-hand or right-hand end of these bars cor-
responds to the exact read-off value on the dampness scale, in the
direction to which it points.
Bars without arrows correspond to intermediate values on the
dampness scale in question.
The read-off values on the left-hand dampness scale are used for
wood moisture measurements. The instrument records wood mois-
ture values in the range from 1 to 44 %.
The read-off values on the right-hand dampness scale are used for
building moisture measurements. The instrument records building
moisture values in the range from 0.2 to 2.4 %.
If measured values lie above the range of measurements that can be
recorded, the measured value display shows, as a warning, a large
triangle at the upper end of the bars that are displayed over the
valid range of measurements. Measured values outside the range of
measurement are not meaningful.

05. Notes on maintenance and operation
Function test
In order to ensure prior to a measurement that the instrument is
working properly you can carry out a function test. For this purpose
switch on the instrument and place the electrode pins on the contact
surfacesidentiedbyTontheupperfaceoftheprotectivecover.If
the values displayed correspond to the reference values, the instru-
ment is functioning properly.
Reference values for the function test:
Woodmoisturescale............................27%±2%
Buildingmoisturescale.......................1.25%±0.1%
The device is in disorder if the values displayed do not correspond
to the reference values.
Batterie test
In order to check the status of the batteries you can carry out a battery
test.For this purpose switch on the instrument and place the electrode
pinsonthecontactsurfacesidentiedbyBontheupperfaceofthe
protective cover. If the values displayed correspond to the reference
values, the batteries have their maximum service life available. The
further the values displayed lie below the reference values, the lower
is the service life of the batteries remaining.

Changing batteries
If the batteries can no longer provide the necessary voltage for opera-
tion of the instrument,the battery status display flashes on the display
screen. The batteries are then exhausted and must be replaced. To

change the batteries release the retention screw of the battery com-
partment cover. Take out the empty batteries and replace them with
new ones. When inserting the batteries take care to observe correct
polarities and use exclusively batteries of the type Cr 2032. After in-
serting the new batteries close the battery compartment cover once
again.
Donotthrowusedbatteriesintothedomesticwaste,reorwater,but
dispose of them professionally in accordance with the relevant
legal requirements.
Changing electrodes
Care
Always ensure that the instrument is kept as dry as possible and avoid
any contamination between the electrode needles.
Clean the instrument as necessary with a soft damp cloth that is lint-
free. Ensure that no moisture penetrates into the housing. Do not use
any sprays, solvents, cleaning agents containing alcohol or abrasives:
instead use only clean water to moisten the cloth.
Changing locations
When The unit is moved from a warm to a cold Location (or vice
versa), this relocation can lead to condensation formation on the
electronic measuring equipment.This physical effect, which cannot
be prevented for constructional reasons, invariably leads to devi-
ations in measurement. The unit requires an acclimatisation time
