Equipment mustbeoperated,servicedand
maintainedinaccordancewith the
manufacturer’s instructions.

1.1ImportantSafetyAdvice
Whenusing electricalequipment basicsafety
precautionsshouldbefollowedincluding the
following.
•Readall instructionscarefullybeforeuse.
•Keepchildrenandunauthorisedpersons
awayfromthemachinewheninuse.
•Donot leavethemachineconnectedtothe
electricitysupplywhennotinuse, always
removetheplug fromthesocket-outlet.
•Donot operateswitches or touchthemains
plug with wethandsasthis maycause electric
shock.
•Switchoff themachinebeforeremoving the
plug.
•Whenunplugging pull theplug,notthesupply
cord.
•Donot operatethemachinewith adamaged
supplycordor plug,or after themachine
malfunctionsor is damagedinanyway.
Contactan authorisedServiceAgent for
repair or adjustment.
•Theplug ofthepower supplycordmustbe
removedfromthesocket-outletbefore
commencing cleaning ofthemachineor
undertaking maintenanceoperations.
•Thepower supplycordmustberegularly
inspectedfor signsofdamage. If thepower
supplycordis damaged,ithastobereplaced.
•Donot use wherehazardousdustis
present.
•Donot use inan explosiveatmosphere.
•Donot pickup oil or other flammable
material.
•Take carewhenusing amachinenear thetop
ofstairstoavoidoverbalancing.
1.2Guidelinesfortheoperator
•Onlyuse themachineonfirmlevel surfaces.
•Operatorsmustbefullytrainedintheuse of
themachineinaccordancewith these
instructions, able toperformuser
maintenanceandthecorrectselectionof
accessories, i.e. filters, hoses etc.
•Donot leavemachinerunning unattended
•Operatorsshouldbephysicallycapable to
manoeuvre, transportandoperatethe
machines.
•Operatorsshouldbeable torecognise
unusualoperationofthemachineandreport
anyproblems.
•Wear suitable footwear toavoidslipping.
•Wear suitable clothing tokeepdryand
warm.
•Wherepossible implement jobrotation
andadequaterestperiodstoavoid
continuoususe ofthesamemuscles.
•Donot smoke whenusing themachine.
•WARNING –shouldfoam/liquidemit
fromthemachineexhaust switchoff
immediately andrefer toinstructions
for operatingthemachine.
•CAUTION –This machineis for
indoorsuse onlyandshouldnotbeused
or storedoutdoorsor inwetconditions.
1.3Transportingthemachine
Whentransporting amachineensurethat all
components, tanks andremovable partsare
securelyfastenedandthat thesupplycordand
plug arenottrailing.Detachhose andwand
frommachinewhereapplicable.
Donot liftor transportthemachinewhilst
containing liquidasthis wouldadd considerably
totheweight.
Take extremecarewhenmoving amachineup
or downstepsor stairs.
Caution–VA55HD,VA55IND and
VA75IND machinesarelargeand heavy.
Donot attemptto liftthesemachines
withoutassistance. Incorrectlifting
techniques mayresultinpersonalinjury.

2Preparing foruse
2.1 Electrical connection
Beforeconnecting themachinetothepower
supply,checkthat your supplyvoltage
correspondswith that markedontherating
label onthehandle ofthemachine.
Thepower supplycordplusanyextensionleads
shouldnotexceed30mintotal. Thecross-
sectionofanyextensioncable wiring mustbeat
least2,5mm².
UK only
Thesupply cordfor 230v models is fittedwithaplug
containinga13 ampfuse.Should thefuserequire
replacementitmust only bereplacedby a13 amp
fuseconformingtoBS1362,andthefusecovermust
berefitted. If thefusecoveris lost theplug must
not beuseduntil thecorrect replacementcoveris
fitted.
IMPORTANT -If thesupplycordis damaged,
itmustonlybereplacedbyasuitable cord
available fromthemanufacturer or an
authorisedserviceagent.
WARNING- VA55HD, VA7555IND &
VA75 IND MUST BE EARTHED. VA20HD IS
DOUBLE INSULATED.
2.2 Wetoperation
For theVA55HD,VA55INDandVA75INDthe
pleatedpaper filter must beremovedfor wet
recovery.Pushthemetalping counter
clockwise torelease thefilter.Removethe
pleatedpaper filter.(See figbelow)
Theprimaryfilter (cloth filter onframe)and
float valveassemblymustbeinplace.
2.3Dryoperation
For theVA55HD,VA55INDandVA75IND
both theprimaryfilter (cloth filter onframe)
andpleatedpaper filter must beinpositionfor
dryrecovery.
3Controls
TheON/OFF motor switchis locatedonthe
motor cover ofall machines. TheVA75IND
features two motors, eachcontrolledbya
separateswitch.
4Operation
•Checkthat thecorrectfiltersareinplace:
•Wetuse –removepleatedpaper filter.
•Dryuse –ensurepleatedpaper filter is in
place
•For both wetor dryuse ensurethelarge
primaryfilter is inplace
•Repositionmotor headoncontainer and
fastentoggle clamps.
•Connecthose tomachineinlet,ensuring that
clipengages fully.Add extensiontubes and
selectsuitable floor tool for your cleaning
operation
•Fullyunwindthesupplycordandplug intoa
convenient socketoutlet.Switchmachineon.
•Pass tool backwardsandforwardsover area
tobecleaned.Toreducesuctionwhen
necessarymoveslidecontrol onwand.
•Whenusing themachinefor drycollection
regularlycheckthat vacuumis notfull.
•Whenusing themachinefor wetpick-up a
high liquidlevel cut off device(float valve)
operates whenthevacuumcleaner is full. This
causes achangeinthesoundlevel andan
immediateloss ofsuction.Switchoff
immediately andunplug themachine.
Emptythemachine
•VA20HD–Removemotor headandhose
andemptyliquidfromtank.

•VA55HD–Release drainhose fromclip.
Removeplug fromdrainhose endto
drain.Whendraining is completereplace
hose plug andsnap hose backintoclips
ontankside.
•VA55IND&VA75IND–these models
haveatipandpour trolley.
•Removethemotor headandtake out
theprimaryfilter andframe.
•Unlocktheknob(see diagrambelow)
•Gripthehandle with onehand,use one
foottobracethetrolleyandliftthe
handle onthetankbytheother handto
emptythetank.
5Storage
•After use checkthat themachineis empty
thenclean anddrythemachine. If usedfor
wetpickup removemotor headandwashout
tankwith clean water anddry.
•Thoroughlyclean theprimaryfilter,paying
particular attentionifmachinehasbeenused
tocollectstripper,slurries or anything that
coulddrytohardcrust.
•Wrap supplycordaroundthehandle or
machinebody ensuring that theplug is not
trailing onthefloor.
•Storethemachineinadryindoor areaonly.
6Maintenance
WARNING-Beforeundertaking
maintenanceoperationsoradjustments
switchoff machineand unplugfromthe
electricitysupply.
Themachinerequires minimummaintenance
apartfromthefollowing checks bythe
operator.
•Supply cord –Regularlyinspectsheath,plug
andcordanchoragefor damageor loose
connection.
•Body of themachine –Clean with adamp
cloth.
•Primaryfilter –clean anddryafter each
use. Avoidbuild-up ofcollecteddebris setting
solidonthefilter.
•Floatvalve –clean an ensurefloat moves
freely
IMPORTANT -Shouldthemachinefail to
operatecontactTruvoxCustomer Service
Department for rapidattention.
7Aftersalesservice
Truvoxmachines arehigh qualitymachines that
havebeentestedfor safetybyauthorised
technicians. Itis alwaysapparent that after
longer working periods, electricaland
mechanicalcomponentswill show signsofwear
andtear or ageing.
Tomaintainoperationalsafetyandreliabilitythe
following serviceintervalhasbeendefined:
Everyyear or after 250 hours.
Under extremeor specialisedconditionsand/or
insufficient maintenance, shorter maintenance
intervals arenecessary.Use onlyoriginal
Truvoxspareparts. Useof otherspareparts
will invalidateall warrantyand liability
claims.
Shouldyourequireafter sales serviceplease
contactthesupplier fromwhomyoupurchased
themachine, whowill arrangeservice. Repairs
andservicing ofTruvoxproductsshouldonlybe
performedbytrainedstaff.Improper repairs
can cause considerable dangerstotheuser.
Enquireabout theTruvoxlow costandefficient
MaintenanceContract.
8Guarantee
Your productis guaranteedfor oneyear from
thedateoforiginalpurchase, or hirepurchase,
againstdefectsinmaterials or workmanship
during manufacture. Withintheguarantee
periodwe undertake at our discretion,torepair
or replacefree ofchargetothepurchaser,any
partfoundtobedefective, subjecttothe
following conditions.
CONDITIONS
1.Claimsmadeunder thetermsofthe
guarantee mustbesupportedbytheoriginal
invoice/bill ofsale issuedat thetimeofsale, or
themachineSerialNo.
2.For claimsunder this guarantee contactthe
supplier fromwhomyoupurchasedtheproduct
whowill arrangetheappropriateaction.Donot
initiallyreturntheproductasthis couldresultin
transitdamage.

3.Neither Truvoxnor itsdistributor shall be
liable for anyincidentalor consequentialloss.
4.This guarantee is governedbythelaws of
England.
5.This guarantee does notcover anyofthe
following:
-Periodicmaintenance, andrepair or
replacement ofpartsduetonormalwear
andtear.
-Damagecausedbyaccident,misuse or
neglect,or thefitting ofother than genuine
Truvoxparts.
-Defectsinother than genuineTruvoxparts,
or repairs, modificationsor adjustments
performedbyother than aTruvoxservice
engineer or authorisedserviceagent.
-Costsandrisks oftransportrelating
directlyor indirectlytotheguarantee of
this product.
-Consumable itemssuchas, brushes, drive
discs, filtersandvacuumskirts.
This guarantee does notaffectyour statutory
rights, or your rightsagainstthesupplier arising
fromtheir sales or purchase contract.

theright toalter specificationswithout prior
