• Keep Kitt as straight as possible, on a flat surface is best.
• Don’t get too close. Keeping at least 50cm away will help
Kitt’s camera to focus.
• Try to avoid having bright light behind you.
• Being in a well-lit space will help Kitt to take a great video!
• Speak clearly and if Kitt is wearing any hats, take them off
so he can hear you.
• Use the image in Kitt’s face to make sure you are in shot!
How to
record
a video
Turn on Kitt.
Touch and hold the
Video button on
Kitt’s head.
When the lock opens, release
the button and Kitt will begin
a countdown.
After the countdown, Kitt will
start recording.
To stop the
recording, touch
the Return button.

a video

Turn on Kitt.
Touch and hold the Menu button.
When the lock opens, release
the button.
Make sure
View Videos is
highlighted.
If not, scroll
through using the
Forwards and
Backwards
buttons.
Touch the Play button. Find the video you want by
scrolling through using the
Forwards and Backwards buttons.
When you see the video you want,
touch the Play button to watch it.
To stop the video, touch the
Return button. Holding this
button will give you the option
to delete this video.
To return to Kitt’s face, touch the Return button again.

How to
upload a file
onto Kitt

You can upload audio, video and
images onto Kitt using a computer.
Children will then be able to view
or listen to these using Kitt.
You can upload...
• An audio file as an MP3.
• An image as a .JPG (For images,
the name will need to follow
the format PICXXXX, for
example PIC0006).
• Any video that has been
recorded on a Kitt.
Turn on Kitt. Plug Kitt into your
computer.
You will see
folders for
images (PIC),
videos (MOV),
audio les
(MP3) and audio
recordings made
on Kitt (REC).
Locate Kitt’s
folder on your
computer. This
will either pop
up or be in your
Computer folder,
in the same way
that a memory
stick would
display.
Drag and drop the le you want to
upload into the correct folder.
Pictures will sit in PIC, audio les will
sit in MP3 and videos will sit in MOV.
When they have copied
across, you can safely
unplug Kitt from the
computer.

How to
download a
file from Kitt

Turn on Kitt.
Plug Kitt into your computer. Locate Kitt’s folder on your
computer. This will either pop up
or be in your Computer folder, in
the same
way that
a memory
stick would
display.
Find the les that you
want to download. You
can transfer them to a
folder on your computer
and then delete from
Kitt if required.
You will see
folders for images
(PIC), videos
(MOV), audio les
(MP3) and audio
recordings made
on Kitt (REC).
When you have nished, you can safely
unplug Kitt from the computer.
