Preparing your printer
Opening the box
The uBuild-3D Mr Bot 280 printer is very well packaged in a five-card carton and
foam-protected polyethylene.
Open the box and remove the protective cardboard with polyethylene foam.
Lift the printer with your hands as shown below.
Setting up the printer
After removing the packaging, to operate your printer you only need two steps,
a) assembling the LCD display, and b) installing the spool holder. Your printer
settings are entirely based on the relevant function menu.

Nozzle and print surface adjustment
After the assembly of the LCD display and the placement of the spool holder,
you need to adjust the correct distance between the nozzle and the printing
surface.
What you will need:
1. Calibration sheet 1x
Note:
The first time you will use the
calibration sheet, remember to fold it
up at the dotted lines. This way it will
be easier to move it back and forth
with your fingers.

Step 1
Connect the power cord to the printer
and then to the wall outlet. Start the
printer with the "POWER" button on the
left of the printer and wait until this
image menu appears.
Step 2
To access the menu, press the LCD’s
knob and turn clockwise or
counterclockwise.
Step 3
Access in the basic menu you will find
the "Calibration" downwards. Select it.
Select the "Yes" command and then the printer setup program will start. When
the print head completes its movements and goes to the center of the print
surface, you will need to take some steps to complete this section.

Mr Bot 280
11
•Place the "Calibration sheet" included in the package between the nozzle
and the print surface.
•Turn the LCD’s knob. Counterclockwise the head descends and clockwise
rises.
•At the same time, slightly move the "Calibration sheet" back and forth until
you feel a slight resistance as the paper is being pressed by the nozzle.
•The properly adjusted distance between the nozzle and the print surface is
when you feel a slight friction of the nozzle pressing the "Calibration sheet".
•When you select the appropriate distance, press the LCD’s knob to finish
the calibration process.
The printer is ready for use!
First print
The first step you need to do is to make sure the glass is clean, and then load the
printer with the filament.
Step 1
Before placing the filament spool on
the side of the printer, cut with a
scissors or with a pliers diagonally the
filament.

Mr Bot 280
12
Step 2
Then put the spool in place and pass
the filament from the teflon tube until it
finds a strong resistance.
Press the button to go to the main menu, select "Print" or "Quick settings", then
"Change filament", "Load" and wait for the temperature to reach the desired
level. With the continuous sound, after the temperature reached the desired
level, push the material toward the teflon tube so that the motor can snap it
more easily, and at the same time press the LCD’s knob. Wait a few seconds
until you see some of the material coming out of the nozzle. Press the knob once
more to stop the material from coming out.
Before you start printing, preheat the print surface for three to four minutes. In
the main menu, select "Preheat", then "Preheat PLA / PHA" and "Preheat bed".
Now you are ready for your first print. In the main menu, select "Print" and then
"Print from SD". Choose a ready-to-print file, and start.
Have a nice print !!!
