Introduction
Functionalities
The Utelisys Quad-Core Multi-Mediabox (hereafter referred to as ‘mediabox’) allows you to watch television on the
Utelisys network and various other multi-media applications.
The mediabox is running Android and allows you to install other apps and add-ons as well such as video-on-demand
applications. The additional USB-ports and SD-card slot can be used to mount storage with media or mouse and
keyboard. It comes preconfigured including accessories and this manual and is ready to use after installing.
Before use
The mediabox is configured to view the TV-content provided within the Utelisys network using the multi-media app
Kodi. Any other functionalities are not officially supported and can be used at the responsibility of the user.
Utelisys nor the building owner can be held responsible for any form of data loss or data leaks as a result of not
following the guidelines in this manual.
It is advised to use the mediabox in combination with a properly connected and configured (wireless) router. Most
(wireless) routers should also perform sufficient but are not officially supported. Wireless connectivity can be
configured, but it is advised to connect the mediabox using an Ethernet/Network cable. Wireless connectivity is not
officially supported due to the risk of interference and signal strength and at the responsibility of the user.
This manual can be edited without further notice, the most recent version can be found on the Utelisys website:

Updates
As updates to the mediabox may occur during the usage of the mediabox it is advised to backup any personal
information stored on the device before performing the update.
Returning the mediabox
Before returning the mediabox please make sure you have reset the mediabox to default settings which will wipe any
personal data stored on the mediabox. This can be done by pressing the ‘settings’ button on the remote control and
browsing to ‘Reset’. This will wipe any personal data.

Quick Setup Guide
Connections
-Connect the HDMI cable to the box and your TV
-Connect the Ethernet/Network cable between the mediabox and a LAN-port on the router
-Connect the power cable to the box and plug it into an outlet
Configuration & Controls
-Turn on your TV and select the correct HDMI connection in the input menu or source menu of your TV
-The box will show a setup-guide, click Next to continue

-Select your preferred system language and click OK, select Next and click OK
-Select TV Zoom and click OK to adjust the screen size to your TV. Select Zoom in/out and click OK to adjust
screen size. When done, click the back-button on the remote and select Next and click OK
-Select Network Configuration and make sure the status below ‘Ethernet’states ‘connected’. Press the back-
button, select Next and click OK. Then select Finish and click OK.
-The home screen shows up, Kodi is already listed as a bookmarked application.
-Navigate to the Multi Media App ‘Kodi’ and click OK
-Use the arrow keys to navigate to ‘TV’, click OK and select your preferred channel you want to watch. Press OK
to confirm
-Click on the return-arrow to go back and select a different channel, press back one more time to use other
options such as weather or the EPG
-During video playback you can use the number pad to switch channels
Kodi Multi-Media center
Introduction
The Kodi Multi-Media center is an open-source app installed and pre-configured for live TV on the mediabox. Kodi
can also be expanded with extra add-ons from the online repository. Use of these add-ons is on the responsibility of
the user and are not officially supported. To install add-ons it is required to access the Master Mode in the app. By
default the app is only configured for TV playback. Kodi can be launched via the shortcut on the home screen (Figure
1), Kodi will also be shown in the app list. A shortcut for other apps and Kodi can be made as well via the add-button.
(Figure 2 ) To change a shortcut, select it and hold the OK button for 5 seconds.

TV Playback and Channel List
When Kodi is launched, the TV Channels will be syncronized from the server. This
may take a few seconds, progress will be shown on the top of the screen. When
this is done you will see the following screen (figure 4) which can be navigated
through with the arrow keys on the remote. Click TV to go directly to the TV
Channels and choose your preferred channel. When the channel list is visible, click
on the left arrow to change options. A short list with options to change channel
groups (separated in languages), sorting of the list and a filter to search for specific
channel names (figure 5)

EPG (Electronic Program Guide)
To open the EPG or Guide, use the arrow keys from the home menu. You can always get to the home menu by
double clicking the back button on the remote. Via the on-screen display the EPG for the current channel can be
shown by clicking the EPG-button. The on-screen display can be shown by pressing the OK button during full screen
TV playback.
Navigate through the TV programs with the arrow keys. Click OK on the selected program to retrieve more info. Click
‘Switch’ in the information popup to switch directly to the channel on which the show is or will be broadcasted on.
On-Screen Display (OSD)
The OSD can be shown by pressing OK during TV playback. It states information about quality, program title, tv-
channel and provides additional options. The first two buttons (up and down) will tune to other channels in the list.
The third option stops the TV functionality, the fourth option (screen) shows the channel list with program titles. The
EPG-button shows the EPG for the current channel. On the right there are more advanced settings available. The film
roll will show options for adjusting the video settings and the speaker shows options for sound.
Language and advanced settings
The open source nature of Kodi allows for multiple settings to be changed. Most of these settings are protected with
a PIN. When this PIN is used to change settings, this is at the responsibility of the user of the mediabox. In case a
support request is made, Utelisys can ask to revert these settings to default by performing a reset. To proceed, click
the ‘power off’ button in the home menu of Kodi and choose to enter the master mode. A pop up will appear and ask
for the code, enter 13579 and Kodi will confirm authorization. In this manual some frequently changed settings and
features will be discussed. Documentation for other features and settings can be found on http://kodi.wiki.
International settings
Go to System > Appearance > International and navigate through the list to change language settings, regional
settings such as time formatting and choose between the metric and imperial settings for the weather widget.

Video, music and others
By default the home screen does not show video, music and other features. These are hidden, to unlock these
options go to System > Appearance > Skin > Settings (2nd option, list) > Home window and uncheck the ‘hide’ options
in the list. From here you can install add-ons which are developed and supported by the community. These add-ons
are usually video-on-demand services or popular websites with video content.
Change Channel list
Go to System > TV > General and choose Channel manager and/or group manager to re-order your channel list, hide
channels and create or modify channel groups. Select a channel to change the settings on the right hand side of the
screen, press OK to move the channel. To apply the settings use the button on the right hand side of the screen.
Remote Control
Kodi also allows to be controlled remotely. By default the remote controls are enabled. By default the official Kodi
remote-app for smartphones (Kore on Android, official Kodi Remote on iOS) should be able to find the box whilst
scanning the network. If it cannot be found it might be required to enter the IP-address and port manually. Use the
settings button on the manual, browse to ‘Utelisys Mediabox’ and go to status. The IP-address will be on top. Use
port number 8080, username and password are both ‘kodi’. Any device-name can be used.
Android
Introduction
The Utelisys mediabox is using Android as an operating system. Therefore apps can be installed from the play store
and run on the mediabox.
Apps
When you are signed in using a google account the play store will allow you to install apps. Sometimes it is required
to use a mouse and keyboard to control all the apps, mice and keyboards with a usb connector usually are supported.
Bluetooth keyboards and mice are not supported.
To sign in navigate to the play store app. If you haven’t signed in yet you can sign in now using your credentials. The
play store will show available apps. In case you don’t have a mouse and keyboard available you can also install apps
by browsing the play store on a computer and install from there, choose the device with ‘no carrier’.
Upgrades
When upgrades are available, the box will prompt with the request to upgrade the box. During the upgrade process
the box will also restore the original settings and wipe any personal files to avoid conflicts between old and new
system files. Utelisys nor the building owner is responsible for any data-loss. To manually check for upgrades, open
the My Apps menu, go to upgrade and uncheck Automatic update and choose ‘Manual update now’. A message will
popup when it’s downloading a new version or if there’s no new version available. During the update process, do not
shut down or remove the power supply.
Stand-by
When the box is not in use you can put the box in stand-by by pressing the red button on top of the remote or use
the black button on the front left of the box. The power indicator will turn red.

Troubleshooting / Common problems
In case you experience problems, please check if your problem is described here before contacting support.
Problem: TV is showing a still picture.
Solution: re-start the stream by flipping the channel back and forth.
Problem: The TV option is not shown in the menu
Solution: There is no connection to the server, press settings on the remote, go to Ethernet and make sure it’s
enabled. If Ethernet is active, reboot the box by unplugging the power and plugging it back in. If this does not solve
the problems, reach out to our support team for further troubleshooting.
Problem: During TV playback the stream stops every few seconds and/or fast forwards
Solution: Press the home button, go to settings, display and disable HDMI auto-detection. Set the HDMI output mode
to either 1080p 50Hz or 720p 50Hz.
Any other problem is usually fixed by rebooting the mediabox or restoring the settings to default. To reboot the box
unplug the power cable for 5 seconds. To restore the default settings, press settings on the remote, go to ‘reset’ and
apply the factory reset.

Mogelijkheden
De Utelisys Quad-Core Multi-Mediabox (hierna genoemd ‘mediabox’) maakt het mogelijk om televisie te kijken op
het netwerk van Utelisys en diverse andere multimediamogelijkheden.
De mediabox is gebaseerd op Android en stelt de gebruiker in staat om diverse apps en add-ons te installeren. De
USB-aansluitingen kunnen gebruikt worden om aparte opslagapparaten aan te sluiten of voor toetsenbord en/of
muis. De mediabox komt met vooraf geïnstalleerde multimediasoftware inclusief accessoires en is gebruiksklaar.
Voor gebruik
De mediabox is geconfigureerd om TV te kijken op het Utelisys-netwerk middels de open source multimediasoftware
‘Kodi’. Overige functies zijn niet officieel ondersteund en op eigen verantwoordelijkheid.
Utelisys noch de verhuurder kan verantwoordelijk gehouden worden voor enige vorm van dataverlies en/of een
datalek als gevolg van het niet volgen van de richtlijnen in deze handleiding. Het is aanbevolen de mediabox te
gebruiken met een goed geconfigureerde (draadloze) router. Veel routers voldoen met de standaardinstellingen aan
de eisen van de mediabox.
Een draadloze verbinding kan ingesteld worden echter is het afgeraden om deze niet te gebruiken en is een
bekabelde verbinding aanbevolen. Draadloze verbindingen zijn niet officieel ondersteund vanwege externe invloeden
zoals interferentie en kan alleen gebruikt worden op eigen verantwoordelijkheid.
Deze handleiding kan aangepast worden zonder voorafgaande kennisgeving, de meest recente versie kan via
www.utelisys.com/mediabox worden verkregen. Updates kunnen plaats vinden tijdens gebruik van de mediabox, het
is raadzaam een reservekopie van persoonlijke informatie te houden.
Retourneren van de mediabox
Indien na gebruik de mediabox wordt geretourneerd is de gebruiker verantwoordelijk voor het wissen van zijn/haar
persoonlijke data. Dit kan uitgevoerd worden door op ‘settings’ te drukken en de optie ‘reset’ of ‘back-up maken en
opnieuw instellen’ te kiezen en de fabrieksinstellingen terug te zetten.
Ondersteuning
Om ondersteuning aan te vragen voor installatie, het gebruik van of het oplossen van problemen met de mediabox
kan er contact worden opgenomen met Utelisys middels telefoon, e-mail of het contactformulier op de website. De
contactgegevens staan achterop deze handleiding.
Installatie
Aansluitingen
-Sluit de HDMI-kabel aan op de box en de TV
-Sluit de Ethernet/Netwerkkabel aan tussen de mediabox en de router (LAN-aansluiting).
-Steek de adapterkabel in de mediabox en de wandcontactdoos
Configuratie en bediening
-Zet de TV aan en selecteer de juiste HDMI-aansluiting
-De mediabox start een installatiewizard, klik Next om verder te gaan
-Selecteer de gewenste systeemtaal en klik Next

-Selecteer TV Zoom en klik OK om de schermgrootte aan te passen.
-Indien de Ethernet/Netwerkkabel correct is aangesloten kan de status gecontroleerd worden door op
Netwerkconfiguratie te klikken. Onder ‘Ethernet’moet de status ‘verbonden’staan. Klik vorige en Next.
-Het thuismenu wordt geladen, selecteer de multimedia-applicatie ‘Kodi’ en druk op OK
-Gebruik de pijltjestoetsen om ‘TV’ te selecteren, druk op OK en selecteer het gewenste kanaal en druk
nogmaals op OK om te bevestigen
-Druk op het pijltje ‘vorige’ om terug te gaan en een ander kanaal te selecteren. Druk nogmaals op ‘vorige’ voor
de gids (Guide) en het weer.
-Zappen is ook mogelijk middels de nummers op de afstandsbediening
-Standaard wordt Kodi in het Engels geïnstalleerd. Nederlands kan ingesteld worden middels instructies op
pagina 14.
Multimediatoepassing Kodi
Introductie
Kodi is een open-source multimediatoepassing vooraf geïnstalleerd en geconfigureerd staat op de mediabox. Kodi
verzorgt de TV-functie en biedt daarnaast de mogelijkheid om extra add-ons te installeren. Deze worden ontwikkeld
door de community en zijn niet officieel ondersteund door Utelisys en kunnen op eigen verantwoordelijkheid
gebruikt worden. Deze kunnen middels de beheerfunctie geïnstalleerd worden. Standaard zal enkel de TV-functie
beschikbaar zijn. Kodi kan gestart worden door in het beginscherm naar de snelkoppeling Kodi (afb.1) te gaan en
vervolgens op OK te drukken. Middels het plus-icoon (afb.2) kan een snelkoppeling worden gemaakt voor andere
apps. Om een snelkoppeling te wijzigen, selecteer deze en druk vijf secondes op de OK-toets.

TV-functie en zenderlijst
Bij het starten van Kodi wordt de zenderlijst ingeladen. Dit kan enkele secondes
duren en voortgang wordt bovenin het scherm getoond. Zodra de zenderlijst
geladen is wordt de TV-functie zichtbaar in het hoofdmenu (figuur 4). Selecteer
middels de pijltoetsen TV om de zenderlijst te laden of kies Gids/Guide om de gids
te openen. Als de zenderlijst geopend is, klik op de linkerpijl om de opties te
wijzigen. Een lijst met diverse opties voor sortering, taalkeuze en een filter voor
een specifiek kanaal is vervolgens zichtbaar. (Figuur 5)

EPG (Elektronische Programmagids)
Om de Gids, ook wel EPG genoemd, te openen, gebruik de pijltoetsen op het hoofdscherm om naar de gids (Guide) te
navigeren. Het hoofdmenu is altijd op te roepen door twee keer op de terug-toets te drukken. Om de gids voor de
huidige tv-zender te openen, druk op OK en druk vervolgens op de EPG-toets. Deze functie is enkel beschikbaar
tijdens het tv-kijken in volledig scherm. Via het hoofdmenu zal de gids voor alle kanalen zichtbaar worden. (Figuur 6)
Gebruik de pijltjestoetsen om door de TV-programma’s te navigeren. Druk op OK om informatie over het
geselecteerde programma te bekijken. Druk op ‘Wisselen’ in het pop-up venster om direct naar het kanaal te gaan
waar het programma wordt uitgezonden.
Geavanceerde en overige instellingen
Het open-source karakter van Kodi maakt het mogelijk om veel instellingen te wijzigen. Veel van deze instellingen zijn
beschermd in de zgn. master-mode of ontgrendelde modus. Deze kan opgeroepen worden door in het thuisscherm
op het uitschakelicoon te drukken. Vervolgens wordt er gevraagd om naar de master-mode of ontgrendelde modus
te gaan. Instellingen wijzigen is op verantwoordelijkheid van de gebruiker, indien ondersteuning aangevraagd wordt
voor de mediabox kan er door de medewerker gevraagd worden om deze naar de fabrieksinstellingen terug te
zetten. De toegangscode is 13579, in deze handleiding zijn enkele veelvoorkomende instellingen gedocumenteerd.
Overige documentatie is te vinden op http://kodi.wiki. De instellingen zijn te benaderen vanuit het hoofdscherm door
systeem te selecteren en op OK te drukken.
On-Screen Display (OSD)
Het On-Screen-Display (OSD) geeft informatie weer over het huidige programma en het tv-kanaal, geeft de
mogelijkheid enkele instellingen aan te passen en kan worden opgeroepen door op ‘OK’ te drukken tijdens het tv-
kijken. De eerste twee knoppen (omhoog en omlaag) bieden de mogelijkheid om te wisselen van kanaal. De derde
optie (vierkant) stopt het tv-kijken en de vierde optie (het scherm) geeft de mogelijkheid om te kijken welke
programma’s actief zijn op andere kanalen. De EPG-knop geeft informatie weer over aankomende programma’s op
het huidige kanaal. Verder naar rechts zijn geavanceerde instellingen voor beeld (filmrol) en geluid (luidspreker).

Taal- en regio-instellingen
Ga naar System > Appearance > International en navigeer naar language. Selecteer Dutch om de Nederlandse taal in
te stellen. Tevens kunnen enkele regionale instellingen voor de klok, datum en temperatuur ingesteld worden.
Video, muziek en overigen
Standaard worden mogelijkheden voor video, muziek en overige add-ons verborgen. Deze verborgen mogelijkheden
kunnen worden ingeschakeld door in de instellingen te navigeren naar Uiterlijk > Skin > Instellingen > Beginscherm.
Hier kan de instelling worden aangepast om video, muziek en overige types content niet te weergeven. Middels het
startscherm van Kodi kunnen add-ons worden geïnstalleerd en gebruikt.
Zenderlijst aanpassen
Ga in de instellingen naar Systeem > TV > Algemeen en kies voor beheer kanalen. Selecteer het kanaal om
instellingen aan te passen aan de rechterkant van het menu. Druk op OK om deze te verplaatsen in de lijst. Sla de
wijzigingen op middels de knop ‘instellingen toepassen’ aan de rechterzijde.
Afstandsbediening
Het is mogelijk om Kodi op afstand te bedienen middels een smartphone of tablet welke Android of iOS gebruikt als
besturingssysteem, de app Kore op Android of ‘official Kodi Remote’voor iOS kan hiervoor gebruikt worden .
Standaard staat deze instelling ingeschakeld met gebruikersnaam en wachtwoord ‘kodi’. De apps scannen
automatisch naar de mediabox, indien deze onverhoopt niet gevonden wordt is het mogelijk om handmatig de
mediabox toe te voegen met het IP-adres. Deze kan gevonden worden in het statusoverzicht, druk op de knop
settings op de afstandsbediening, navigeer naar de laatste optie (Utelisys Mediabox) en druk op status. Het
poortnummer is standaard 8080.
Android
Introductie
De Utelisys mediabox gebruikt Android als besturingssysteem. Hierdoor is het mogelijk om zelf losse apps te
installeren op de mediabox via de Play Store.
Apps
Eenmaal ingelogd middels een Google-account kunnen er apps geïnstalleerd worden. Soms zal dit gebruik van een
toetsenbrod en/of muis vereisen afhankelijk van de applicatie. Deze kunnen op de USB-connector worden
aangesloten. Bluetooth muizen en toetsenborden worden niet ondersteund.
Om in te loggen, navigeer naar het hoofdscherm middels het huisje op de afstandsbediening. Ga naar de Play Store.
Log in met het google-account om apps te installeren. De Play Store laat diverse beschikbare apps zien. Het kan soms
vereist zijn om een toetsenbord en muis te gebruiken voor sommige apps.
Upgrades
Indien er software-upgrades beschikbaar zijn voor de mediabox zal er een melding verschijnen om de upgrade uit te
voeren. Tijdens het upgradeproces zal de mediabox de instellingen herstellen en oude bestanden wissen om
conflicten tussen oude en nieuwe versies te voorkomen. Utelisys noch de verhuurder is aansprakelijk voor verlies van
persoonlijke data. Om handmatig te controleren of een nieuwe versie beschikbaar is, ga naar ‘Mijn Apps’ en navigeer
naar ‘Upgrade’ en deselecteer ‘Automatic Update’. Vervolgens is het mogelijk om ‘Manual Update’ uit te voeren. Het
is tijdens het updaten belangrijk om de mediabox niet uit te schakelen of de voeding te onderbreken.

Stand-by
Indien de mediabox niet gebruikt wordt kan deze in stand-by worden gezet. Druk hiervoor op de stand-by knop op de
afstandsbediening of de zwarte knop aan de linker-voorzijde van de mediabox. Het ‘power’-lampje wordt hierna
rood.
Probleemoplossing
Indien er problemen zijn tijdens het gebruik van de mediabox, controleer of het probleem hieronder is vermeld
alvorens contact op te nemen.
Probleem: De TV laat een stilstaand beeld zien.
Oplossing: Herstart de TV-zender door van kanaal te wisselen.
Probleem: Er is geen TV-optie te zien in Kodi.
Oplossing: Er is geen verbinding met de server. Druk op de ‘setting’ knop en navigeer naar ‘Ethernet’, controleer of
deze is ingeschakeld (rechtsboven). Indien Ethernet actief is herstart de mediabox door de adapter uit de box te
nemen, 5 secondes te wachten en deze weer in te voeren. Indien het probleem blijft, neem dan contact op met de
helpdesk.
Probleem: Het TV-beeld stopt af en toe en/of speelt versneld af.
Oplossing: Druk op het huisje, ga naar ‘Instellingen’ en vervolgens naar ‘Display’. De HDMI-uitvoermodus dient op
1080p 50Hz of 720p 50Hz te staan. Indien dit niet het geval is, schakel ‘HDMI automatisch detecteren’ uit en stel
handmatig in.
Overige problemen zijn vaak op te lossen door de mediabox te herstarten. Verwijder hiervoor 5 secondes de
aansluiting van de adapter uit de mediabox. Indien dit het probleem niet verhelpt kunnen de fabrieksinstellingen
gebruikt worden. Ga via ‘Setting’ op de afstandsbediening naar ‘Backup maken en opnieuw instellen’ en zet de
fabrieksinstellingen terug.
