Extended Quick Start Guide to Uuni 2S - Version 0.1
Flame Keeper
•Place the Flame Keeper between
the inner and the outer shell.
•The purpose of the Flame Keeper
is retain more of the heat by
creating a hot air pocket at the top.
Door
•Make sure the door is shut at all
times, except, of course, when
inserting or turning a pizza!
We’ve put together this guide to make sure you make the most out of your Uuni 2S straight
from the first time you use it.

Chimney
•Ensure the chimney is secured
and that the chimney cap is
removed whilst Uuni is in use.

Hopper
•Start at the lowest setting / level
when bringing the Uuni up to
temperature.
•Later on you can move the
hopper higher if required. We
do find that it works the best on
the two lowest settings
•Make sure the scoop remains in
the hopper when not adding
pellets
•When you’re using Uuni, the
pellets need to be kept topped
up so you don’t run out of fuel!
Don’t fill the whole hopper
completely, instead only add so
much that scoop still fits in
easily and doesn’t touch the
pellets

Lighting
•Fill pellet grate with pellets
•Light pellets using petroleum free
lighting fluid
•Once lit, replace the grate to your
Uuni
•Now wait for 2-3 minutes until the
pellets have caught fire. Make sure
the door is shut and chimney cap
is removed at this stage
•Once the pellets have caught fire,
start adding pellets using the
scoop. Add the pellets into the
vertical hopper. Don’t fill it
completely, always make sure the
scoop fits back in
•Uuni will be ready to use within 10
minutes
Light using a gas torch
•By far the quickest way to start the
Uuni is by using a gas blow torch.
These are available for around £10
($15) from most local hardware
stores
•Fill the grate with pellets and put in
its place. Add pellets via the
hopper so they come up by around
5 cm (2”) in the hopper pipe
•Now aim the lit gas torch into the
pellets from the back as pictured.
You only need to do this for 30-60
seconds
•Uuni will be ready to use within 10
minutes
IMPORTANT Be careful when using
gas. Immediately once lit, store the
blow torch away from Uuni to avoid it
from over heating

When is Uuni 2S ready to use
•You will know your Uuni is ready to
use when you get flames big
enough to reach into the chimney.
The bottom of the grate should
have embers by this point.
•10-15 mins from lighting you'll be
at 500°C (930°F)

Baking pizzas with Uuni 2S
Once you’ve put the pizza in, remember to keep an eye on it. As Uuni can bake it in as little time
as 90 seconds it’s easy to over cook it. Turn the pizza around twice while it baking. Do this by
taking it out using the peel, turn it around and place it back in the oven. Once you’ve done this a
couple of times it becomes second nature.
Other handy tips
If you are using Uuni in windy conditions, turn the back of Uuni to the direction of the wind... or
ideally, use in a well sheltered spot where wind in minimised.
Use hard wood pellets, such as the 100% oak pellets we supply. High quality and low moisture
content is key. Remember to store your pellets somewhere dry. Garage or a garden shed is not
ideal.
Care (of stone?)
•Do not leave outside for extended periods of time. The stone can absorb humidity from the air
and it can take a little longer to heat up next time it comes to using your Uuni.
•If your Uuni Stone requires washing, use warm water only and dry thoroughly by placing in a
warm oven (60c / 140f) electric oven for 2 hours
