learning toy!
Go on an adventure with the Touch & Teach Elephant™by VTech®
and learn numbers, letters, rst words and more while exploring 16
interactive pages. Press the 8 number buttons to learn about animals,
animal sounds, numbers and hear musical notes.

Unlock the packaging locks:
Rotate the packaging lock counterclockwise 90
degrees.
Pull out the packaging lock.
GETTING STARTED
BATTERY INSTALLATION
1. Make sure the unit is turned OFF.
2. Locate the battery cover on the back of
the unit. Use a coin or a screwdriver to
loosen the screw.
3. Install 2 new AA (AM-3/LR6) batteries following the diagram inside
the battery box. (The use of new alkaline batteries is recommended
for maximum performance.)
4. Replace the battery cover and tighten the screw to secure.

BATTERY NOTICE
• Use new alkaline batteries for maximum performance.
• Use only batteries of the same or equivalent type as recommended.
• Do not mix different types of batteries: alkaline, standard (carbon-
zinc) or rechargeable (Ni-Cd, Ni-MH), or new and used batteries.
• Do not use damaged batteries.
• Insert batteries with the correct polarity.
• Do not short-circuit the battery terminals.
• Remove exhausted batteries from the toy.
• Remove batteries during long periods of non-use.
• Do not dispose of batteries in re.
• Do not charge non-rechargeable batteries.
• Remove rechargeable batteries from the toy before charging (if
removable).
• Rechargeable batteries are only to be charged under adult
supervision.
PRODUCT FEATURES
1. ON/OFF/MODE SELECTOR SWITCH
To turn the unit ON, slide the ON/OFF/
MODE SELECTOR SWITCH to the
LETTER MODE, STORY MODE or
the MUSIC MODE position. To turn
the unit OFF, slide the ON/OFF/MODE
SELECTOR SWITCH to the OFF position.

2. VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH
Slide the VOLUME CONTROL SWITCH
to the LOW VOLUME ( ) or HIGH
VOLUME ( ) position to adjust the
volume.
3. AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF
To preserve battery life, the VTech®Touch & Teach Elephant™will
automatically power-down after approximately 45 seconds without
input. The unit can be turned on again by pressing any button.
ACTIVITIES
1. Slide the mode selector switch to
choose a mode of play. You will hear
a cheerful song and an instructional
phrase. The lights will ash along with
the sounds.
2. Press the light-up buttons to do the
following: learn letters, animals names
and sounds, objects and more in Letter
Mode; read interesting short stories
with fun sounds and short tunes in
Story Mode; and hear a variety of short
tunes and melodies in Music Mode. In
all modes, the lights will ash with the
sounds.

3. Turn the book pages to hear magical
sounds, short tunes, or some playful
phrases, depending on the selected
mode. The lights will ash along with
the sounds.
4. Press the number/animal buttons to
do the following: learn numbers and
counting 1 through 8 in Letter Mode;
learn animal names and sound effects
in Story Mode; and play piano notes in
Music Mode. While a melody is playing,
press the number buttons again to
play the melody one note at a time. In
all modes, the lights will ash with the
sounds.
5. Press the question button to hear
random questions about numbers,
letters, shapes, animals or objects,
depending on the selected mode and
page. Press the number/animal buttons
or the light-up buttons to answer the
questions. In all modes, the lights will
ash with the sounds.
6. Spin the roller ball to hear fun sounds.
The lights will ash along with the
sounds.

CARE & MAINTENANCE
1. Keep the unit clean by wiping it with a slightly damp cloth.
2. Keep the unit out of direct sunlight and away from any direct heat
source.
3. Remove the batteries when the unit will not be in use for an
extended period of time.
4. Do not drop the unit on hard surfaces and do not expose the unit to
moisture or water.
TROUBLESHOOTING
If for some reason the program/activity stops working or malfunctions,
please follow these steps:
1. Please turn the unit OFF.
2. Interrupt the power supply by removing the batteries.
3. Let the unit stand for a few minutes, then replace the batteries.
4. Turn the unit ON. The unit should now be ready to play again.
5. If the product still does not work, replace with a new set of batteries.

Vous venez d’acquérir Mon éléphant savant de VTech®.
Félicitations !
Avec Mon éléphant savant, Bébé découvre un imagier interactif sur
8 thèmes familiers : la maison, le zoo, la ferme... Il découvre les
lettres, les mots, les chiffres et les couleurs en suivant les aventures
de Titouan, l’éléphant! Il s’éveille également grâce aux 20 mélodies
et à la chanson.

Pour retirer l’attache de la boîte :
Tourner l’attache permettant de xer le jouet à sa
boîte dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d’une montre.
Retirer et jeter l’attache en plastique.
1. ALIMENTATION
1.1. INSTALLATION DES PILES
1. Avant d’insérer les piles, s’assurer que
le jouet est éteint.
2. Ouvrir le compartiment à piles situé sous
Mon éléphant savant à l’aide d’une
pièce de monnaie ou d’un tournevis.

3. Insérer 2 piles LR6/AA en respectant le schéma qui se trouve dans
le compartiment à piles.
4. Refermer soigneusement le couvercle du compartiment à piles et
s’assurer que la vis est bien serrée.
1.2. MISE EN GARDE
Les piles fournies avec le produit permettent de tester le jouet en
magasin mais ne sont pas des piles longue durée.
• Seules des piles du type recommandé au point précédent doivent
être utilisées.
• Ne pas mélanger différents types de piles ou d’accumulateurs, ne pas
mélanger des piles ou des accumulateurs neufs avec des usagés.
• Ne pas utiliser des piles ou des accumulateurs endommagés.
• Mettre en place les piles ou les accumulateurs en respectant les
polarités + et –.
• Ne pas mettre les bornes d’une pile ou d’un accumulateur en court-
circuit (en reliant directement le + et le –).
• Enlever les piles ou les accumulateurs usagés du jouet.
• Retirer les piles ou les accumulateurs en cas de non-utilisation
prolongée.
• Ne les jeter ni au feu ni dans la nature.
• Ne pas tenter de recharger des piles non rechargeables.
• Enlever les accumulateurs du jouet pour les recharger.
• Les accumulateurs ne doivent être chargés que sous la surveillance
d’un adulte.

2. POUR COMMENCER À JOUER...
2.1. MARCHE/ARRÊT/SÉLECTEUR DE MODE DE
JEU
Pour mettre en marche Mon éléphant
savant, déplacer le curseur Marche/
Arrêt/Sélecteur de mode de jeu sur
les positions , ou pour
entrer respectivement dans les modes
Découvertes, Histoire ou Musique.
Pour éteindre Mon éléphant savant,
placer le curseur Marche/Arrêt/Réglage Sélecteur de mode de jeu
sur la position .
2.2. RÉGLAGE DU VOLUME SONORE
Déplacer le curseur Réglage du volume
sonore sur la position pour un volume
faible ou sur la position pour un volume
fort.
2.3. ARRÊT AUTOMATIQUE
Si le jouet n’est pas activé pendant quelques secondes, Mon éléphant
savant invite Bébé à jouer. Si Bébé ne manipule toujours aucun
bouton, Mon éléphant savant s’éteint automatiquement. Pour le
réactiver, il suft d’appuyer sur n’importe quel bouton.

3. ACTIVITÉS
Lorsque l’enfant joue avec Mon éléphant savant, les lumières
clignotent en rythme avec les sons.
1. Mettre en marche Mon éléphant savant
en déplaçant le curseur Marche/Arrêt/
Sélecteur de mode de jeu sur les
positions , ou . Votre enfant
entend une chanson et une phrase qui
l’invite à jouer.
2. Appuyer sur les boutons lumineux pour
découvrir les lettres et de nouveaux
mots dans le mode Découvertes, les
aventures de Titouan dans le mode
Histoire et des mélodies dans le mode
Musique.
3. Tourner les pages du livre pour découvrir
de nouveaux mots, les aventures de
Titouan et de courtes mélodies selon le
mode sélectionné.
4. Appuyer sur l’un des 8 boutons Chiffre/
Animal pour découvrir les chiffres
et compter jusqu’à 8 dans le mode
Découvertes, découvrir les animaux
dans le mode Histoire et jouer les
mélodies note après note dans le mode
Musique.

5. Appuyer sur le bouton Quiz pour trouver
le mot demandé dans les modes
Découvertes et Histoire, et pour écouter
la chanson et les notes de musique dans
le mode Musique.
6. Faire tourner la balle pour déclencher des
sons rigolos.

6. ENTRETIEN
• Ne pas mettre le jouet dans une machine à laver. Mon éléphant
savant est lavable uniquement en surface.
• Pour nettoyer Mon éléphant savant, utiliser un linge légèrement
humide. Ne pas utiliser de solvants ni de produits corrosifs.
• Éviter toute exposition prolongée de Mon éléphant savant au
soleil ou à toute autre source de chaleur.
• Entreposer Mon éléphant savant dans un endroit sec.
• Ce jouet est fabriqué avec des matériaux résistants. Néanmoins, lui
éviter les chocs contre des surfaces dures.
