Installation
Before Installing the SFK
Prior to installation of the 2100SFK Steel Framing Kit,
ensure that the following items have already been
installed or roughed in. Installing these items after SFK
installation can be difficult:
• Any required wall thimble
• Any required insulation
• Drywall
• Rough electrical
• Rough gas
Also remove all barriers and windows.
Do not complete venting until after SFK installation.
Major Components
Note: The fireplace sits directly on the bottom section.
The middle section will be shimmed a minimum 1/4”
above the fireplace, and the top section will be shimmed
a minimum of 1/4” above the middle section. Clearance
between fireplace, middle section, and top section may
be increased to vary total installed height.
Required for Assembly
To complete these instructions, you will need:
• 2100SFK kit and 2100PKN or 2100PKP fireplace
• 2 kiln dried wood studs, cut to planned height
• wood screws and self drilling sheet metal screws (see
below)
The screws for assembly of the kit pieces are included.
Assemble Middle Section
1. Locate the pieces that make up the middle section:
2. Attach end panel to top and bottom panels (top and
bottom are identical). Use only the four outermost
screws indicated (these are temporary and will be
removed in step 5, allowing proper connection of the
middle section to the wall studs).

3. Place one of the side panels (both sides are identical)
on top of the assembly and screw together (12
screws, filling indicated available holes).
4. Flip assembly over and place other side panel on top
of the assembly. Screw together (12 screws).
5. Remove the first 4 screws from Step 2. This will allow
proper connection of the middle section to the wall.
6. Put the finished middle section aside.
Install SFK and Fireplace
1. Place left hand
stud (cut to
planned installa-
tion height, not

wall. Level and
attach to stud
behind wall. Screw
every foot to
planned height.
Suggested #10 x
3-1/2” general pur-
pose wood screws,

a guide for placing

right stud to wall

covered.

tion against wall,
standoffs between
studs and corners
inside the floor
marks. Check for
square (perpen-
dicular to wall).

section to floor (4

10. Remove four top stand-
offs from fireplace and
discard.
11. Place fireplace
on top of bottom
section but do not
place against wall.
12. Stop and finish electrical and gas installation while
you have room (see “Electrical Wiring” and “Gas Sup-
ply” in the LX1 Installer’s Manual).
13. Once complete,
place fireplace
fully against the
wall (standoffs
between studs).
14. Flatten front
feet of fireplace
down and screw
feet to the bot-
tom section with
self-drilling sheet
metal screws (max
1” length).
15. Place shims on top
of the fireplace,
avoiding plac-
ing the shims on
screw heads (min
1/4”). Place middle
section on top
of fireplace with
flanges around the
wall studs.
16. Screw the middle
section in line to
the wall, through
the studs, to pull
the middle section
snug against the
studs.

17. Check square on
middle section
and adjust if nec-
essary.
18. Screw the middle
section to the out-
side of the studs
from each side (5
per side).
19. Place shims on
top of the middle
section, avoiding
placing the shims
on screw heads
(min 1/4”). Place
top section on top
of middle section.
Note: you may
want to place any
required Heat-
Shift components
before placing
the top section,
see LX1 Installer’s
Manual for details.
20. Check square on
top section.
21. Screw the top sec-
tion to the studs
from each side (3
per side).
22. If the studs were
not cut to planned
installation height,
cut offthe visible
tops of the studs
now (if top venting
with LDK7 or leav-
ing top clearance
above the wall

23. Remove all shims.
24. See the LX1 Installer’s Manual for finishing materi-
als details. To enclose the 2100HSC kit, 1/2” cement
board (or other non-combustible board) is required.
When attaching drywall/cement board to steel frame
or fireplace body, we suggest using self-drilling
screws, 1-1/2” length. Note: you may be penetrat-
ing two layers of sheet metal when fastening to the
middle section.

Avant d’installer l’encastrement
Avant d’installer l’Encastrement d’acier 2100SFK, assurez-
vous que les accessoires suivants aient déjà été installés.
L’installation de ces accessoires peut être difficile une fois
l’Encastrement installé.
• Fourreau pour conduit d’évacuation
• Isolant du mur derrière le foyer
• Placoplâtre couvrant le mur derrière le foyer
• Raccordement sommaire de l’électricité
• Raccordement sommaire du gaz
Également, enlevez les pare-étincelles et fenêtres.
Ne pas compléter l’installation du système d’évacuation
avant d’avoir terminé l’installation de l’encastrement.
Éléments principaux
Note : Le foyer est placé directement sur la base. La
section du milieu doit être espacée d’un minimum de
1/4” [7 mm] au-dessus du foyer et la section du haut doit
être espacée d’un minimum de 1/4” [7 mm] au-dessus de
la section du milieu. L’espace entre le foyer, la section du
milieu et la section du haut peut être augmenté si plus
de hauteur est nécessaire.
Nécessaire pour l’assemblage
Pour compléter cette installation, vous aurez besoin de :
• Encastrement 2100SFK et foyer 2100PKN ou 2100PKP
• 2 poteaux de bois, coupé à la hauteur planifiée
• vis à bois et vis à métaux auto-perçeuses (voir ci-
dessous)
Les vis pour l’assemblage de cette trousse sont incluses.
Assemblez la section du milieu
1. Identifiez les pièces composant la section du milieu:
2. Fixez le panneau du bout aux panneaux du haut et
du bas (ils sont identiques) à l’aide de 4 vis. Utilisez
seulement les 4 trous de vis extérieurs tel qu’indiqué.
Cette fixation est temporaire et les vis devront être
enlevées à l’étape 5 afin de permettre une meilleure
connection entre le métal et les poteaux de bois.
