EN DV-10400
4-20NM TORQUE WRENCH
WITH 3/8’’ SQUARE DRIVE
VAR thanks you for purchasing DV-10400 torque wrench, specially designed for bolts
and fasteners torqueing, from 4 Nm to 20 Nm.
Please read this manual carefully before use.
Recommendations
DV-10400 is a precision tool that has to be used and stored with care, avoiding
shocks, falls and mistreatments.
Applying a torque on bolts and fasteners has to be done in a single and gentle
movement or the desired torque may be wrongly applied. The torque wrench needs
to be held at the center of the handle.
A torque wrench must not be used as a ratchet, this affects the torque application
accuracy.

Safety instructions
- Never use a torque wrench as leverage or hammer.
- Using defective hand tools, sockets, bits, extensions or adapters can cause
injuries.
- A miscalibrated torque wrench can damage the parts and components being
tightened.
- Do not use levers on the torque wrench handle, this will cause damages to the
torque wrench.
- Excessive tightening can break the fasteners.
- Always wear safety glasses while using hand tools.
- This torque wrench handle is not isolated from electric current.
- Do not use this torque wrench directly on a power source or on high voltage
electric circuits.
Burnings can result from an electric shock.
Caution and maintenance
1. A torque wrench is a precision tool that needs to be stored with care.
2. The torque wrench has recieved a lifetime lubrication. It should not be
re-lubricated.
The only exception is the head which can be lubricated if necessary to maintain a
smooth functionning.
3. The torque wrench is a precision measuring tool.
A calibration has to be regularly performed in order to guarantee the torque
accuracy.
The owner’s responsability relies on this periodic calibration.
The suggested periodicity is aproximately once a year, or closer depending on the
use frequency.
4. Always store the torque wrench in its box after use, in order to protect it from
dust and humidity.
5. Never disassemble the torque wrench by yourself. In case of need, always ask
for help from a metrology qualified technical center.
Any incorrect disassembly will cause damages to your torque wrench and will alter
its accuracy.

Instructions
1. Unlock the lockring by lowering it to the handle.
2. Adjust the torque by aligning the upper edge of the handle on the
desired torque value.
3. Lock the desired torque by releasing the lockring.
4. You will hear a «click» when the desired torque has been reached.
Extensions and adaptors
Using an extension or an adaptor (increasing the effective length of the
torque wrench) modifies the torque value.
To calculate the new torque, use the following formula :
B = A x L
L + C
A = Applied torque at the end of the adaptor/extension
L = Distance between the square drive and the hand position
B = Torque wrench scale
C = Adaptor or extension length
Various factors including the adaptor or extension length, the torque
wrench’s length and the hand’s position have an influence on the above
calculation accuracy.
