CD-38340 :
2. Depending of the bottom bracket shell to face, install the appropriate guides
with the CD-38330 key :
- BSC/ISO/English : CD-38320-1.370 (left-handed and right-handed)
- ITA/Italian : CD-38320-36
3. Slide the pilot through the guides, which were previously threaded in the frame.
Then, place the second support ring against the bottom bracket shell, on the opposite
side. Complete your assembly with the compression spring, the push bushing and the
knurled knob.
4. Generously and regularly spray the facing cutter and the being machined side
of the frame with VAR CD-77000 cutting fluid, in order to obtain qualitative results and
expand your CD-38310-45 facing cutter lifespan.
5. Rotate the tool support clockwise only, to begin the bottom bracket shell
facing.
Any counterclockwise rotation will damage the facing cutter.
After applying a slight pressure in the beginning, progressively rotate the knurled knob
to increase the spring pressure.
Apply the required pressure to ensure a gentle facing, any excessive pressure could
create dents on the surface being machined because of the facing cutter hooking on
the bottom bracket shell surface.
The bottom bracket shell has to present a perfect machined surface.
6. Repeat the operation on the opposite side.
7. With a clean cloth, a brush and VAR NL-75300 degreaser, thoroughly clean the
bottom bracket shell, in order to remove any used cutting fluid and metal shavings.
8. Generously grease the bottom bracket shell threads with VAR high quality
NL-76400 & NL-78400 P.T.F.E. grease or VAR NL-76600 & NL-78600 copper paste
depending on your frame material.
