Headset instructions
1. Before using the tapered bushings, check the bushings fit inside the headset
cups by inserting them. If the bushing has a tight fit, do not use the tapered bushings
during the cups installation.
In this eventuality, we recommend you to press one cup at a time to ensure perfect
alignment, as with semi-integrated (ZS) type headsets.
Aluminum cups should be installed with care as pressure may damage their
external shape.
2. Apply a thin layer of VAR NL-76400/NL-78400 PTFE grease in the headtube
bore and on the cups. A titanium frame will need VAR NL-76600/NL-78600 copper
paste.
3. Assemble DR-03500 and the headset cups.
4. Slowly rotate the handles in a clockwise direction and check the cups’
correct alignment during their insertion in the frame. If the press‘ axle rotates in the
same time as the handles, hold it in position with a VAR DV-55500-17 open end
17mm wrench, you will find two flat sections at the axle’s base.
5. To remove DR-03500, rotate the handles in a counterclockwise direction,
and press the cursor to release it.
Pressed-in bottom bracket instructions
1. With the table above, select and install the right adaptors depending on the
bottom bracket to install.
2. Apply a thin layer of VAR NL-76400/NL-78400 PTFE grease in the bottom
bracket shell bore and on the bottom bracket to install.
3. Assemble DR-03500 with the adaptor and the bottom bracket.
4. Slowly rotate the handles in a clockwise direction and check the cups’ cor-
rect alignment during their insertion in the frame.
