1. Introduction

2. Safety Instructions

3. General Guidelines
Refer to the Velleman®Service and Quality Warranty on the last pages of this manual.
Familiarise yourself with the functions of the device before actually using it.
All modifications of the device are forbidden for safety reasons. Damage caused by user
modifications to the device is not covered by the warranty.
Only use the device for its intended purpose. Using the device in an unauthorised way
will void the warranty.
Damage caused by disregard of certain guidelines in this manual is not covered by the

4. What is micro:bit?
The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized (52 x 42 mm –2” x 1.75”) computer, 70 times smaller and 18 times faster
than the original BBC micro computers used in schools. The design is appealing to a young public. It features
25 red LEDs used to flash messages and create games.
micro:bit is compatible with different coding languages starting from Block Editor and mobile apps for the
starters, to Python for more advanced users.
micro:bit has an accelerometer so it can detect motion and knows when you are on the move. The built-in
compass knows which direction you are heading in and it uses a low-energy wireless connection to interact with
other devices and the Internet.
Each element is completely programmable via easy-to-use software on a dedicated website (microbit.org)
accessible from a PC, tablet or mobile.
5. Description
This power module is an extension board for micro:bit. It is powered by two CR2025 batteries. An additional
buzzer can be used as output connection for the micro:bit.

8. Assembly
Push the countersunk screws through pins 0 and GND.
Line up the Power:bit board with the screws. The back of the Power:bit must face the back of the micro:bit.

Screw the Power:bit and micro:bit boards together. Do the same for pins 1, 2 and 3V.
Place the batteries into their battery holder. Switch on the board.
9. Programming
Create a demo code to test the Power:bit, the micro:bit and the buzzer. Go to www.makecode.com and click
the micro:bit button.
Place the blocks as below:
Drag and drop the [show icon] block in the [on start] block. They will snap together when correct. Select the
[happy] icon. Now, drag and drop the [show string] block under the [show icon] block. They will also snap
together. Type the text [Lets play a melody, please shake!].
Make a second block. Drag and drop the [on shake] block under the [on start] block. Drag and drop the [show
icon] block in the [on shake] block and set the icon to [Yes]. Drag and drop the [start melody –ode –repeating
–one] block under the [show icon] block. Set the melody on [ode]. Drag and drop the last [show icon] block
under the [start melody] block and set the icon to [Surprised].

When done, click on the [download] button and save the .hex file to the downloads folder C:\downloads. This
.hex file is ready to upload to the micro:bit.
Plug the micro:bit into a USB port. Now, drag and drop the .hex file onto the micro:bit [removable device] to
upload the programme. When the yellow LED on the micro:bit stops blinking, the programme is uploaded.
Remove the USB cable and power up the Power:bit (set the switch in the on position).
Now, follow the instructions on the micro:bit.

4. Wat is micro:bit?
De BBC micro:bit is een computer in zakformaat (52 x 42 mm - 2" x 1.75"), die 70 keer kleiner en 18 keer
sneller is dan de originele BBC-microcomputers die op scholen worden gebruikt. Het ontwerp spreekt een jong
publiek aan. Het beschikt over 25 rode leds die gebruikt worden om berichten weer te geven en games te
creëren.
micro:bit is compatibel met verschillende programmeertalen, van Block Editor en mobiele apps voor beginners,
tot Python voor geavanceerdere gebruikers.
micro:bit heeft een versnellingsmeter zodat het beweging kan detecteren en weet wanneer u onderweg bent.
Het ingebouwde kompas weet welke richting u uit gaat en gebruikt een energiezuinige draadloze verbinding om
met andere apparaten en het internet te communiceren.
Elk element is volledig programmeerbaar via gebruiksvriendelijke software op een speciale website
(microbit.org) die toegankelijk is vanaf een pc, tablet of mobiele telefoon.
5. Omschrijving
Deze voedingsmodule is een uitbreidingsboard voor micro:bit. Functioneert met twee CR2025-batterijen. Een
extra zoemer kan als uitgangsaansluiting voor micro:bit gebruikt worden.

Duw de verzonken schroeven door de pinnen 0 en GND.
Lijn de voedingsmodule uit met de schroeven. De achterkant van de voedingsmodule moet naar de achterkant
van de micro: bit gericht zijn.

Schroef de voedingsmodule en de micro:bit aan elkaar. Doe hetzelfde voor de pinnen 1, 2 en 3V.
Plaats de batterijen in de batterijhouders. Schakel het board in.
9. Programmeren
Creëer een democode om de voedingsmodule, de micro:bit en de zoemer te testen. Ga naar
www.makecode.com en klik op de knop micro:bit.
Plaats de blokken als volgt:
Sleep het blokje [show icon] in het blokje [on start]. Wanneer correct uitgevoerd, dan schuiven deze blokjes in
elkaar. Selecteer het icoontje [happy]. Sleep het blokje [show string] onder het blokje [show icon]. Deze
blokjes schuiven ook in elkaar. Geef de tekst [Lets play a melody, please shake!] in.
Maak een tweede blokje. Sleep het blokje [on shake] onder het blokje [on start]. Sleep het blokje [show icon]
in het blokje [on shake] en stel het icoontje in op [Yes]. Sleep het blokje [start melody –ode –repeating –
one] onder het blokje [show icon]. Stel de melodie in op [ode]. Sleep het laatste blokje [show icon] onder het
blokje [start melody] en stel het icoontje in op [Surprised].

Klik op de knop [download] en sla het .hex-bestand op in de map downloads C: \ downloads. Dit .hex-
bestand kan naar de micro:bit geüpload worden.
Sluit de micro:bit aan op een USB-poort. Sleep het .hex-bestand naar de micro:bit [removable device] om het
programma te uploaden. Als de gele led op de micro:bit niet meer knippert, dan is het programma geüpload.
Ontkoppel de USB-kabel en schakel de voedingsmodule in (zet de schakelaar op ON).
Volg de instructies op de micro:bit.

4. Qu’est-ce que le micro:bit ?
BBC micro:bit est un ordinateur de poche (52 x 42 mm - 70 x 1.75"), 70 fois plus petit et 18 fois plus rapide
que les micro-ordinateurs BBC utilisés dans les écoles. Le design attire un jeune public. Il comporte des LED
rouges permettant d’afficher des messages déroulants et créer des jeux.
micro:bit est compatible avec différents langages de programmation, de Block Editor et des applications
mobiles pour les débutants jusqu'à Python pour les utilisateurs plus avancés.
micro:bit est doté d'un accéléromètre pour détecter les mouvements et d’indiquer aux autres appareils que
vous êtes en déplacement. La boussole intégrée peut vous indiquer dans quelle direction vous vous dirigez et
utilise une connexion sans fil basse consommation pour interagir avec d'autres appareils et l’Internet.
Chaque élément est entièrement programmable via un logiciel facile à utiliser sur un site Web dédié
(microbit.org) accessible depuis un PC, une tablette ou un téléphone portable.

Pousser les vis à tête fraisée à travers les broches 0 et GND.
Aligner le module d'alimentation avec les vis. Diriger la partie arrière du module d'alimentation vers la partie
arrière du micro:bit.

Visser le module d'alimentation et le micro:bit. Procéder de la même façon pour les broches 1, 2 en 3V.
Insérer les piles dans leurs supports. Allumer le module.
9. Programmer
Créer un code démo pour tester le module d'alimentation, le micro:bit et le ronfleur. Aller à
www.makecode.com et cliquer sur le bouton micro:bit.
Placer les blocs comme suit :
Faire glisser le bloc [show icon] dans le bloc [on start]. Les blocs s’emboîtent comme des pièces de puzzle.
Sélectionner l'icône [happy]. Faire glisser le bloc [show string] sous le bloc [show icon]. Ces blocs s’emboîtent
également. Saisir le texte [Lets play a melody, please shake!].
Créer un deuxième bloc. Faire glisser le bloc [on shake] sous le bloc [on start]. Faire glisser le bloc [show icon]
dans le bloc [on shake] et régler l'icône sur [Yes]. Faire glisser le bloc [start melody –ode –repeating –one]
sous le bloc [show icon]. Régler la mélodie sur [ode]. Faire glisser le dernier bloc [show icon] sous le bloc [start
melody] et régler l'icône sur [Surprised].

Cliquer sur le bouton [download] et sauvegarder le fichier .hex dans le dossier de téléchargements 
C:\downloads. Ce fichier .hex peut être téléchargé vers le micro:bit.
Insérer le micro:bit dans un port USB. Glisser-déposer le fichier .hex dans le micro:bit [removable device] pour
télécharger le programme. Lorsque la LED jaune du micro:bit s'arrête de clignoter, le programme est
téléchargé.
Déconnecter le câble et allumer le module d'alimentation (régler l'interrupteur on/off sur ON).
Suivre les instructions sur le micro:bit.

4. ¿Qué es micro:bit?

pequeño y 18 más rápido que los BBC micro-ordenadores originales utilizados en colegios. Fue diseñado para
atraer a los niños. Lleva 25 LEDs rojos que pueden programarse para mostrar mensajes y crear juegos.
micro:bit es compatible con diferentes lenguajes de programación tales como p.ej Block Editor y aplicaciones
móviles para principiantes y Python para usuarios más avanzados.
micro:bit lleva un acelerómetro para detectar movimientos y saber si usted está en movimiento. Gracias a la

Pase los tornillos avellanados por el pin 0 y GND.
Alinee la tarjeta de expansión Power:bit con los tornillos. Asegúrese de que la parte trasera de la Power:bit esté
orientada hacia la parte trasera del micro:bit.

Fije la Power:bit al micro:bit atornillándola. Repita estos pasos para los pines 1, 2 y 3V.
Introduzca las pilas de botón. Encienda la tarjeta de expansión.
9. Programar
Cree un código de demostración para comprobar la Power:bit, el micro:bit y el zumbador. Vaya a
www.makecode.com y haga clic en micro:bit.
Ponga los bloques de la siguiente manera:
Arrastre y suelte el bloque [show icon] en el bloque [on start]. Si se hace de forma correcta, encajarán.
Seleccione el icono [happy]. Ahora, arrastre y suelte el bloque [show string] debajo del bloque [show icon].
Encajarán también. Introduzca el texto [Lets play a melody, please shake!].
