General
The 1000BASE-Tto1000BASE-Xmedia converter series
provides 1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet copper-to-fiber media
conversion, allowing for 1000Base-T-1000Base-Xover
multimode or single-modefiber optical media.

is provided for the fiber port to accommodate any type

DesktopMounting
The devicecan be mounted on adesktop or shelf.Make sure
that there is proper heat dissipation from and adequate
ventilation around the device. Do not place heavy objects on
the device.
Wall Mounting
The deviceprovides amounting hole on the bottomcase as
showninthe figure. Usethe hole for awall mounting.
ApplyingPower
Beforeyoubegin theinstallation,checktheACvoltageof your
area. The ACpower adapter which is used to supply the DC
power for the deviceshould have the ACvoltage matching
the commercial power voltage in your area. Use one of the
followingratedAC-DC power adaptersfor your installation.

Typical Application
Use two media converters connected with an appropriate
fiber cable to extend the connection distance between two
Gigabit copper devices as shownbelow:
Connecting to aFiberGigabit EthernetPort
The converter can also connect to aremote fiber Gigabit
Ethernet port over afiber cable. It extends the connection
distance between acopper port and afiber port as shown
below:

DIN-Rail Mounting
For aDin-Railchassis, the mediaconverter can supportmount-
ingon aDin-Rail.Anoptional Din-Rail bracket, MCC-DR can
be purchasedseparately.Consult your dealer for details. The
followingfigures show an example after bracket installation:
Center Chassis Installation
The mediaconverter can alsobe installed in MCC-16 center
chassis. The center chassis provides the power supply to the
converter alsowith optional power redundancy.Up to 16 units
can be installedinone chassis. Unscrew and removethe cover
of the center connector before inserting the converter intothe
chassis. Refer to the operation manual of center chassis
MCC-16 for moreinformation.
