CAUTION: Ensure the required
airflow for safe operation of
equipment is not compromised
when installing the Geist SwitchAir
device.
WARNING: Take precaution to
avoid interference with the switch’s
input power cords when installing
behind a live switch.
1. Installing the support
channel
Insert the six customer-provided
cage nuts into the four holes on
the front of the support channel
and two holes into the rear
channel extension tab.
Insert the extension tab into the
rear of the support channel.
With the channel facing the
centerline of the rack, hold the
support channel on the inside of
the left rack uprights in the 2U
space just above the network
switch. Using customer-
provided screws, a
ttach the
channel to the front rack
upright only in the top and
bottom holes of the 2U space.
Adjust the extension tab to the
proper length and attach the
extension tab onto the rear
upright with two screws.
2. Installing the air channel
Insert the four customer-
provided cage nuts into the four
holes on the front of the air
channel.
In the 2U space opposite the
support channel, hold the air
channel on the inside of the
right rack upright. Orient the air
channel to face the centerline of
the rack with its open leg facing

down. Fasten in place using
screws only in the top and
bottom holes of the 2U space.
3. Installing the SwitchAir
device into the rack
NOTE: Connect to power
before attaching the SwitchAir
device to the rack. (The
SwitchAir device has a standard
C14 power inlet. Due to the
variety of possible power
source outlet types, an
appropriate power cord must
be determined and supplied by
the customer.)
Insert the SwitchAir device into
the support and air channels.
Using four customer-provided
screws, attach the device to the
rack.
