When removing cooktop for cleaning an /or
service:
• Shut off gas at main supply
• Disconnect AC power supply
• Disconnect gas line to the inlet pipe.
• Lift appliance out of cabinet cutout.

Air Supply and Ventilation
Means must be provi e for any heavy- uty

It is recommen e that the cooktop be set
un er a powere , vente exhaust hoo , or
non-vente recirculating hoo . Nothing
shoul obstruct the flow of combustion an
ventilation air.

Flexible Connections
If the unit is to be installe with flexible
couplings an /or quick isconnect fittings,
the installer must use a flexible connector of

BURN HAZARD
The use of cabinets for storage above the
appliance may result in a potential burn
hazard. Combustible items may ignite,
metallic items may become hot and
cause burns. If a cabinet storage is to be
provided the risk can be reduced by
installing a range hood that projects
horizontally a minimum of 5” (12.7 cm)
beyond the bottom of the cabinets.
This appliance shall not be used for
space heating. This information is based
on safety considerations.
Rigid Connections:
• Incoming gas is brought from an intake
pipe (not supplie ) at the rear of the unit
to the pressure regulator; then to the
manifol pipe for istribution. The only
connection necessary is from the service
supply, through the shut-off valve (not
supplie ), to this intake pipe (not
supplie ) to the regulator supplie , but
not connecte through the cooktop.
In Massachusetts: This appliance must be
installe with a 36” (3-foot) long flexible gas
connector.
LP/Propane Conversion
The VGSU an DGSU mo els are fiel
convertible to LP/Propane gas or natural
gas. The orifice spu s an regulator must be
physically change . For the VGSU mo els,
or er conversion kit NK2VGSU to convert to
natural an LPK3VGSU to convert to
LP/Propane. For the DGSU mo els, or er
conversion kit DLPK to convert to
LP/Propane. Gas conversions shoul be
complete by a qualifie technician. Refer to
instructions in conversion kit for gas
conversions.
The DGCU models are not field
convertible. The unit must be ordered
from the factory either natural or
LP/Propane.

Before placing the cooktop into operation,
always check for gas leaks with a soapy
water solution or other acceptable method.

CHECK FOR LEAKS.
Electrical & Gas Requirements
Initial Ignition of Burners
All cooktops are teste before leaving the
factory. Fiel a justments may be necessary
for proper mixture of gas an air for proper
operation. When the cooktop is connecte
to gas an electrical service, it shoul be
a juste by a qualifie technician. If it is not,
contact your ealer for the name of their
authorize service agency in your area.
Gas conversions an initial installation
a justments are not the responsibility of the
manufacturer. To convert the VGSU mo el
to LP or natural gas, the orifice spu s an
regulator must be physically change . The
proper conversion kit must be or ere from
your authorize service agency or ealer.
Proper Lighting and Shutdown
Instructions
1. To ignite the surface burners, turn the
knob counter clockwise to any position.
2. Upon ignition of the surface burner, turn
the knob to the esire position, (HI,
Me , or Low).
3. To shut own the burner, turn knob
clockwise to the OFF position.
4. In case of failure, shut the gas OFF using
the installer supplie manual shut-off
valve.
