3. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The Viking Microfast® Model M-5 Resi-
dential Pendent Sprinkler is a small,
high-sensitivity, glass-bulb spray sprin-
kler. The sprinkler is available in several
finishes andtemperatureratingsto meet
design requirements.
The sprinkler is listed for use below
smooth, flat, horizontal ceilings and
ceilings with slopes up to and includ-
ing a 6/12 pitch (26.6°), with spacings
up to 20’ by 20’.
The sprinkler design, with a K-Factor of
5.5, allows efficient use of available
water supplies for the hydraulically de-
signed fire-protection system. The
small, rugged 3mm glass bulb and spe-
cial deflector combine speed of opera-
tion and areas of coverage to meet the
residential sprinkler standards. During
fire conditions, the heat-sensitive liquid
in the glass bulb expands, causing the
bulbto shatter,releasing the pipcap and
sealing spring assembly. The water
flowing through the sprinkler orifice
strikes the sprinkler deflector, forming a
uniform spray pattern to extinguish or
control the fire.

the standards or any alteration to the

matically nullify the approval and any

to occupancy and hazard. The mini-
mum flow rate indicated for a listed

moved, new pipe-joint compound or

This is due to the fact that when the
joint seal leaks, the sealin

pound is washed out of the joint.
8. MAINTENANCE

3. Install the new unit. Care must be
taken to ensure that the replace-
mentsprinkler is the proper model

orifice size, temperature ratin

and response characteristics.

and secure all valves. Check and
