Getting Started
B for Using Hood
Although th hood is cl an d upon compl tion of th
manufacturing proc ss, you will probably n d to cl an your
hood again aft r installation. Wip th surfac of th hood
with a good hous hold cl an r appli d with a soft cloth, or
stainl ss st l polish, d p nding on th finish of your hood.
This will l av a prot ctiv finish on th hood.
Heat Sensor Thermostat (Designer Hoods Only)
Your hood is quipp d with a h at s nsor th rmostat. Th
th rmostat will turn on or sp d up th blow r if it s ns s
xc ssiv h at abov th cooking surfac . Wh n th s nsor
activat s, th l tt rs “HOT” will app ar on th display. If th
blow r is OFF - th s nsor turns th blow r on to HIGH
sp d. If th blow r is on at a low r sp d s tting - th
s nsor turns th blow r up to HIGH sp d. Wh n th
t mp ratur l v l drops to normal, th blow r will r turn to
its original s tting and th display will b cl ar d.

Designer Hood Operation
Always turn on your hood b for you b gin cooking to
stablish airflow in th kitch n. Also l t th blow r run for a

Light knob—Push onc to turn lights on. Push again to turn
lights off. Rotat clockwis to incr as light int nsity and
count rclockwis to d cr as light int nsity. Light s tting will
stay th sam wh n turn d on or off.
Fan knob—Push onc to turn blow r on. Push again to turn
blow r off. Rotat clockwis to incr as blow r sp d and
count rclockwis to d cr as blow r sp d.
Digital display—R mains blank whil tim r/d lay functions
ar not in us . Displays d sir d s t tim which is s t by ith r
th s t button or d lay function button. Upon r aching 00:00,
th buzz r will sound and will continu to b p v ry 10
s conds up to 5 minut s.
Delay eature button—Pushing this button onc will automatically
s t th digital display to 10 minut s. Pushing again will go to 20
minut s and so forth, up to 30 minut s. Th blow r will activat and
th tim r will start counting down until 00:00 is r ach d. At this tim
th display will go blank and blow r will cut off.
Scroll up button—Chang s tim r display upward to 12 hours.
Scroll down button—Chang s tim r display downward to 00:00.
Set button—Pushing onc will activat display (00:00) and
allow you to nt r tim using th scroll up or scroll down
buttons. Th blow r cannot b activat d using th s t button.
Only th tim r will b activat d. Upon r aching 00:00, th
buzz r will sound and will continu to b p v ry 10 s conds
up to 5 minut s.

Cleaning Ba le Filters
As air pass s through a baffl filt r, gr as particl s coll ct
on th stainl ss st l U-shap d baffl chann ls and drip
down into th bottom of th filt r. Baffl filt rs ar
xtr m ly ffici nt wh n compar d to m sh filt rs. Th
pow r of th hood is incr as d as mor air pass s through
a baffl filt r than with m sh filt rs, which ar usually dirty.
Baffl filt rs ar almost univ rsally r quir d in comm rcial
installations du to th ir sup rior ability to captur gr as .
Th baffl filt rs should b xamin d p riodically to assur
that all surfac s and parts ar cl an. Th filt rs can b
wash d in a dishwash r or in a sink with hot, soapy wat r.

Using Outdoor Hood (Approved Models Only)
•Outdoor-approved hood models should be installed in a
covered yet non-enclosed area. Th y should also b
prot ct d from natural l m nts (such as rain) as much as
possibl .
• Always turn th outdoor hood on to th “HIGH” position
b for lighting th grill.
• K p th grill canopy clos d as much as possibl wh n
cooking so smok is xhaust d from th back of th grill.
This allows for optimum p rformanc of th hood.

Cleaning Mesh Filters

an alarm. Onc th unit has b n in op ration for 48 hours, th l tt rs “FILT”

Replacing the Light Bulbs
When removing bulbs use an oven mitt to protect your hand
in case the bulb breaks.

in warm, soapy wat r. DO NOT USE ABRASIVE CLEANSERS,
STEEL WOOL PADS, OR ABRASIVE CLOTHS. DO NOT us
cl ans rs that contain chlorid s; th chlorid s in th cl an r
could damag th stainl ss st l finish. If you n d to scrap
stainl ss st l to r mov ncrust d mat rials, first soak th
ar a with hot tow ls to loos n th mat rial, th n us a

2. Ev ry 3 months giv your hood a thorough cl aning. On
paint d surfac s, us a n w coat of wax. A good wax

will do both jobs at onc . On stainl ss st l surfac s, us a
good stainl ss st l cl an r and polish.
Renewing Enamel Finish
If discoloration occurs, you should thoroughly polish th finish
on your hood to r n w its gloss and lust r and to r mov any
gr as r sidu which may hav a y llowing ff ct. Us any
good nam l polish, r frig rator polish, or automotiv polish.
Renewing Stainless Steel Finish
R gular cl aning is th b st way to assur that your stainl ss
st l finish stays bright and unscratch d. Us l mon oil or
stainl ss st l polish to coat and prot ct stainl ss st l.

dat of purchas . NOTE: Viking Rang v ntilator kits ar d sign d sp cifically for us with Viking Rang hoods.
Us of any non-Viking Rang v ntilator kits VOIDS th hood warranty. Viking Rang Corporation, warrantor,
agr s to r pair or r plac , at its option, any part which fails or is found to b d f ctiv during th warranty
p riod. Th Viking warranty do s not cov r any additional v ntilation products us d in conjunction with Viking
hoods or v ntilator kits. This includ s, but is not limit d to, such d vic s as boost r fans or in-lin blow rs. Any
malfunction caus d to Viking v ntilation products as a dir ct r sult of th us of such quipm nt is not cov r d
und r th Viking warranty.

dat of purchas . NOTE: Viking Rang v ntilator kits ar d sign d sp cifically for us with Viking Rang hoods.
Us of any non-Viking Rang v ntilator kits VOIDS th hood warranty. Viking Rang Corporation, warrantor,
agr s to r pair or r plac , at its option, any part which fails or is found to b d f ctiv during th warranty
p riod.
*Glass (including light bulbs), paint d, and d corativ it ms ar warrant d to b fr from d f ctiv mat rials or
workmanship for a p riod of nin ty (90) days from th dat of original r tail purchas . ANY DEFECTS MUST BE
REPORTED TO THE SELLING DEALER WITHIN NINETY (90) DAYS FROM DATE OF ORIGINAL RETAIL
PURCHASE.
