WARNING
For contaminants caused by liquid or solid particles to pneumatic circuit and
resulting damage to pneumatic components as well as damage to pneumatic
components applying external pressure at the testconnector no guarantee or liability
can be granted. This applies also to consequential damages of test facilities or test
components.
WARNING
During leak test the connecting tube and test adapter must not be moved!
There must be no direct sunlight to the VAS 6911 and to the HV-battery!
The test object and the VAS 6911 must be conditioned to room temperature before
starting the test! Sufficient air ventilation at the backside of the VAS 6911 must be
assured! There must be no air draft!
WARNING
Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer’s recommended
attachments.
WARNING
Do not operate equipment with a damaged cord or if the equipment has been
dropped or damaged –until it has been examined by a qualified service person.
WARNING
Do not let cord hang over edge of table, bench or counter, or come in contact with
hot manifolds or moving fan blades.
WARNING
An extension cord is not allowed. For testing use only specified cables.
WARNING
To reduce the risk of fire, do not operate equipment in the vicinity of open
containers of flammable liquids (gasoline).
WARNING
Adequate ventilation should be provided when working on operating internal
combustion engines.

WARNING
Risk of explosions
The VAS 6911A has internal parts which emit sparks and therefore must not be
exposed to flammable fumes. The VAS 6911A should be operated at least 460 mm
(18 inches) above the floor surface since fumes from fuels and other materials
accumulate at floor level.
WARNING
Connecting non-VW HV-Modules
The VAS 6911A were developed for HV batteries of the Volkswagen group. It must
not be used in HV batteries from other manufacturers!
WARNING
Connect only to mains with protective conductor!
WARNING
Place the VAS6911A in that way, that you have access to the on/off switch at any
time!
WARNING
Make sure that (2) Ventilation, (3) Air out and (5) pump outlet isn’t blocked and air
can circulate!
WARNING
Replace power cord only by a new one with same specification, at least 0.75 mm²
cross section / ≤AWG 18!
CAUTION
The VAS 6911A may only be used within the measurement ranges stipulated in the
technical data and descriptions in the operating manual. Do not perform
measurements on damaged leads.
CAUTION
Cleaning
Before cleaning the VAS 6911A, disconnect the power cord and the USB cable!
Use only a dry cloth for cleaning! Do not use any cleaner or solvent.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
1. Read all instructions.
2. Care must be taken as burns can occur from touching hot parts.
3. Do not operate equipment with a damaged cord or if the equipment
has been dropped or damaged - until it has been examined by a
qualified serviceman.
4. Do not let cord hang over edge of table, bench or counter or come in
contact with hot manifolds or moving fan blades.
5. If an extension cord is necessary, a cord with a current rating equal
to or more than that of the equipment should be used. Cords rated
for less current than the equipment may overheat. Care should be
taken to arrange the cord so that it will not be tripped over or pulled.
6. Always unplug equipment from electrical outlet when not in use.
Never use the cord to pull the plug from the outlet. Grasp plug and
pull to disconnect.
7. Let equipment cool completely before putting away. Loop cord
loosely around equip-ment when storing.
8. To reduce the risk of fire, do not operate equipment in the vicinity of
open containers of flammable liquids (gasoline).
9. Adequate ventilation should be provided when working on operating
internal combustion engines.
10. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from
moving parts.
11. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not use on wet surfaces or
expose to rain.
12. Use only as described in the manual. Use only manufacturer´s
recommended attachments.
13. ALWAYS WEAR SAFETY GLASSES. Everyday eyeglasses only
have impact resistant lenses, they are NOT safety glasses.

1 General Information
1.1 General Notes
The Leakage Tester VAS6911A, hereinafter called VAS6911A, can be used to check
the leakage of HV-Batteries used in Hybrid or E-Cars.
The VAS6911A was designed for use in Car-Shops / service stations or similar
Institutions.
It’s determined for professional, trained personnel.
WARNING
For contaminants caused by liquid or solid particles to pneumatic circuit and resulting
damage to pneumatic components as well as damage to pneumatic components ba
applying external pressure at the testconnector no guarantee or liability can be
granted. This applies also to consequential damages of test facilities or test
components.
WARNING
During leak test the connecting tube and test adapter must not be moved! There
must be no direct sunlight to the VAS6911 and to the HV-battery! The test object
must be conditioned to room temperature before starting the test! There must be no
draught.
WARNING
If accessories or the VAS6911A is damaged, do not use the VAS6911A until it’s
serviced!
Please follow the regulation valid to your country!

1.3 Certificate of Calibration
The manufacturer hereby declares (fig 1-1) that the device delivered with this
operating manual does not require any calibration within the first 3 years after its
delivery. Subsequent calibrations should be carried out every 12months.

Das Dichtprüfgerät VAS 6911A wurde unter Einhaltung aller Vorgaben nach
der jeweils gültigen Prüfvorschrift erfolgreich getestet und hat in
einwandfreiem Zustand unser Haus verlassen.
In den ersten 12 Monaten nach der Auslieferung des Geräts ist keine
Kalibrierung erforderlich.
The Leakage Tester VAS 6911A was tested successfully with compliance
to all specified values and under the actual test procedure and left our
facilities in perfect condition.
During the first 12 month after delivery of the device, calibration is not
required.
AVL ist nach ISO 9001 zertifiziert!
AVL is accredited according to ISO 9001!

1.4 Designated Use
The VAS 6911A may only be used in that way, described in this manual.
WARNING
The housing should only be opened by service personal. See Service Information,
Chap. 3.1 Regional Service partners).
WARNING
Connect only to mains with protective conductor!
WARNING
Place the VAS6911A in that way, that you have access to the on/off switch at any
time!
WARNING
Make sure that (2) Ventilation, (3) Air out and (5) pump outlet isn’t blocked and air
can circulate!
WARNING
Replace power cord only by one with same specification, at least 0.75 mm² cross
section / < AWG 18!
The product described has been developed, manufactured and checked according to
the relevant safety standards. If the safety instructions are observed, the start-up is
carried out as stipulated, the device is used for the intended purpose and the
recommended maintenance and care is also observed, then in normal cases there is
no danger regarding damages to property or for the health of persons associated
with the VAS 6911A.

The set consists of the Test Plug eUp!, eGolf, Golf GTE, A3 e-tron and the Test
Connector eUp!, eGolf, Golf GTE, A3 e-tron.
2.3.1.1 Test Plug eUp!, eGolf, Golf GTE, A3 e-tron
VAS 6911/3A-1, EN7583
This test plug is used for leakage testing on VOLKSWAGEN eUP!, eGolf, Golf GTE
and A3 e-tron. The test plug is connecting to the traction plug of the HV-Battery.

2.4.1 2D-Barcode Scanner
VAS 6161/1, ASE 447 043 00 000
The scanner is used to scan the bar code attached to the cell modules. The canner
has an USB-Type A connector and has to be connected to the VW Diagnostic system
(VAS 6150A / VAS 6051B / VAS 6160).

Delivered by VOLKSWAGEN.
Gas Detector for locating a leak. Used together with VAS6911/14.
2.4.3 Leak Search Device
VAS 6911/14, ASE 447 284 00 000
Delivered by VOLKSWAGEN.
This is a Gasbottle which is connected to the test plug.
Using this leakage search system the leakage of the HV-Batterie can be found easily.
This system works separately from the VAS 6911A.
Only the test plug is neccessary / used.
Before using this option please see the Volkswagen documentation.
Please notice the specific regulations and srandards in your country.

Used for sealing the over/ under pressure valves build in the HV-battery
