rary malfunction or permanent damage to the simulator. To avoid overheating:
• Make sure that the operating environment is well ventilated.
• Do not block the air vents of the simulator PC.
• Do not allow dust to build up on the air vents.
• Set up the simulator PC at least 10 cm (4”) away from walls or other objects
which may block ventilation.
• Do not place the simulator PC on a carpet or rug with long fibers.
• Do not place the simulator PC in a narrow or cramped space.
• Do not cover the simulator PC during operation.
2.8 Assembly and Connection to a Power Supply
The simulator must be set up according to relevant electrical regulations. Assemble
and connect the device in accordance to the electrical and mechanical requirements
specified in the provided guides. Assemble the device in the way and order de-
scribed in the provided guides.
Assembly
The simulator is heavy. Trying to move or to lift the simulator on your own could
cause injury or damage to the simulator. Assembly must be carried out by two
people.
Condensed moisture from the air might cause damage to the simulator. If the simu-
lator components are very cold from transporting, let them warm up at room tem-
perature before assembly and operation. Only switch on the simulator if the simula-
tor and room temperature are between 10–30 °C (50–86 °F).
Make sure that the simulator table stands safely on all four swivel casters. After
positioning the simulator in its working position, lock all four wheels so that the
simulator cannot move while using it.
Position cables so that they cannot be damaged (e.g. rolling chairs, kinking) and
so that accidents (e.g. tripping) cannot occur. Lead cables directly to the simulator.
Secure cables with cable protectors. Wind up and fasten cables using zip ties, if the
cables are too long.
Connection to a power supply
When setting up the simulator, follow the instructions of other devices you are con-
necting to it (e.g. storage devices). Those instructions may contain important safety
measures and information regarding permitted application of the devices.

Safety

2.9 Operation
Simulator
Only switch on the simulator if the simulator temperature and the room temperature
are between 10–30 °C (50–86 °F).
The power inlet of the simulator is located at the base of the lifting column near the
floor. Make sure that water never comes into contact with the power inlet. Advise
cleaning personnel to be especially careful while wet mopping the floor near the
simulator. It has to be made sure that the floor is not left even slightly wet near the
power inlet. Otherwise electric shock hazard or device damage may occur.
Remove the power plug immediately if liquid enters any part of the enclosure. In
this case, the equipment needs to be checked by VRmagic or an authorized service
technician.
When opening the housing of any of the simulator components while the system
is connected to power, there is the risk of death or serious injury through electrical
shock. Further, the simulator might get damaged and the warranty will be voided.
Never attempt to open the housing of any of the components.
In the event of failure, or if safe operation of the simulator or any device connected
to it cannot be assured, the simulator must be taken out of operation and must be
secured against unintentional activation or use. Disconnect the power plug from
the power source immediately. Ask VRmagic or an authorized service technician to
check the device.
Safe operation is not assured
• if the voltage requirements of the simulator do not match the power supply
voltage.
• if any part of the simulator or a cable is visibly damaged.
• if the simulator is not operating properly.
• if the simulator has been exposed to rain or other wet conditions.
• if liquid or objects have entered any part of the simulator.
• after storage under adverse conditions.
• after heavy strain in transporting the device.
The slit lamp uses infrared LEDs which are invisible to the human eye. The LEDs
are positioned in the lower rear part of the slit lamp base and are only active while a
case is running. Looking directly into the LEDs may cause irritation or damage to the
eye. Do not look directly into the infrared LEDs from a short distance for a long time.
If the product is used as intended and described in the product documentation, the
infrared LEDs present no danger.
The simulator uses components that are sensitive to magnetism. If magnets are
brought too close to the simulator, the components may get damaged permanently
or temporary errors may occur during the simulation. Always keep magnets away
from the slit lamp.

Safety
Eyesi Slit Lamp Simulator – Installation and Operating Guide

Operating table
Contusions or other injuries may occur if body parts get caught between the mov-
ing parts of the simulator while adjusting the table height. As far as possible, keep
hands, fingers, and other body parts away from the lifting column and the operating
table while adjusting the table height. Keep a safety distance of the simulator to
neighboring objects of minimum 15 cm (6”).
When adjusting the operating table height, the moving parts of the simulator may
touch and damage other objects in the room. Before adjusting the table height,
make sure that the table’s vertical motion is not obstructed by other objects.
Do not place any objects on the operating table that do not belong to the simulator.
Especially heavy objects may exceed the operating table’s load bearing capacity.
Never lean against or sit on the operating table.
Touch screen
The screen’s touch-sensitive surface might be damaged by wrong handling. Never
touch the screen with hard or sharp-edged objects (e.g. a ball-point pen). Do not
press hard on the screen. Only tap the screen with your fingers using slight pressure.
Microscope
If the bayonet lock of the microscope is opened, the complete eyepiece unit will
come off. If it falls down, it may cause personal injury or damage. Do not open the
bayonet lock.
If you strongly pull the eyepieces towards you, the eyepieces will come off. If they
fall down, they will possibly get damaged. Do not pull strongly on the eyepieces.
2.10 Disassembly, Transport, and Storage
Disassembly
Before starting to disassemble the simulator, switch off the simulator. Also discon-
nect the simulator from power.
Some plugs of the simulator have locking mechanisms that prevent them from be-
ing unplugged accidentally. Trying to remove the plugs without unlocking them may
cause damage to the plugs or the simulator PC connectors. Make sure to unlock the
plugs while unplugging them.
If the bayonet lock of the microscope is opened, the eyepieces can fall off and
cause injury or get damaged. We recommend keeping the bayonet lock closed
at all times, also during disassembly. If it should become necessary to open the
bayonet lock, for example in a service case, make sure to hold the eyepieces firmly
so they cannot fall down.

Transport
Transport the simulator in the original transport boxes in which it was delivered.
The packaged simulator is heavy. Trying to move or to lift the simulator on your own
could cause injury or damage to the simulator. The shipping boxes should be trans-
ported with a pallet truck or trolley only. Always place the transport boxes on a level,
stable surface that can securely bear the total weight. Make sure that the transport
boxes cannot fall or be damaged in any other way.
Storage
Observe the storage conditions for the simulator (Â section 9 on page 58). We
recommend storing the simulator in its original transport boxes.
Make sure that the storage location is dust-protected and dry. If the simulator is not
in use for a longer time, we recommend covering the simulator hardware to protect
it from dust. Do not store other objects on top of the simulator and ensure that no
other objects can fall onto the simulator.
2.11 Care, Maintenance, and Disposal
Care
If water enters any of the simulator components, there is the risk of death or serious
injury through electrical shock. Further, the simulator might get damaged through
short circuits and resulting heat. Make sure that water does not enter any of the
simulator components. Disconnect all simulator components from power before
attempting to clean them with a damp cloth. Make sure that the simulator does not
get wet while cleaning surrounding areas (e.g. while wet mopping the floor).
Maintenance
Never attempt to make any repairs, manipulations or alterations of any nature to the
simulator. Never open the housings of the simulator components. Doing otherwise
may lead to personal injury and voids the warranty.
Do not use replacements or spare parts not approved by VRmagic. The use of in-
compatible components may involve considerable danger for the user and may
damage your system. In any case, the warranty gets void. Only use VRmagic spare
parts to ensure safe operation of your simulator.
Disposal
All components must be disposed of in compliance with the applicable laws and
guidelines of the corresponding country.
