PRODUCT MANUAL
Handwash Drier
Models CME_41s & 45s
CME_41s CME_45s

1.INTRODUCTION.
(a) Welcome to the CME handwash unit. This unit has been designed and constructed from
quality materials to a high standard. The handwash unit can only be installed in a frost-
free or frost protected environment to avoid damage due to freezing pipes. All water
supply pipes to & within the handwash must be suitably insulated from freezing.
Contained within the packing box in addition to these instructions is:
1 x CME hand wash unit, 2 x Installation mounting plates fitted with unit fixing
bolts & adjustment nuts, 1 x door lock key, 1 x Product Manual.
(b) Technically qualified staff should carry out the following instructions. If you have any
further queries about installing or commissioning the handwash unit, help should be
obtained from your supplier or Wallgate Ltd.
(c) Details on how to use, care for and service the “Classic” handwash unit are contained in
the “User & Maintenance Instructions”.
2.SITE PREPARATION.
(a) Prepare an opening in the wall surface, accurate to the dimensions shown in drawing
“INS_CME_45s” on page 4. It is important that the aperture is square and within tolerance
to the stated dimensions as there is very little overlap of the unit fascia (approx 10mm). If
preferable a timber lining will also greatly improve the aperture accuracy. In existing
buildings it may be preferable to build a stud wall to house the unit as an alternative to
preparing an aperture in the wall. The lower aperture for wheel chair access should be
carefully constructed to the dimensions on the drawing & including the removable panel
for access to the services where there is no rear service duct.
(b) The unit is held between two metal mounting plates that are fixed to each side of the
aperture. If support is required to the wall above the aperture then a suitable lintel must be
installed.
(c) Complete all surface finishes (i.e. screed, plaster or tiling) to the wall before fixing the
mounting brackets, as these must be fitted flush with the finished surface.
(d) An electrical supply (230v 50Hz) should be provided
(e) to the handwash unit water inlet may be made to the supplied tap on the unit. If the unit
is to be connected to a gravity (tank) fed supply further advice should be requested from
your supplier. with a switched fused spur-13Amp, double pole connection point that is
local to the unit (the contact separation of the fused spur switch should be at least 3mm).
A suitable cable with a minimum conductor size of 1.5mm sq. should be connected to the
fused spur switch ready for connection to the unit.
(f) A mains cold water supply with a min pressure of 1.75bar should be provided within the
wall cavity below the aperture and terminated with a suitable isolating tap. Final
connection
(g) A waste outlet pipe connection of 32mm(1 ¼”) should be provided within the wall cavity
with a suitable waste trap.
3. APPLIANCE PREPARATION & FITTING.
(a) Remove the unit mounting plates from the packing box. They are packed inside plastic
bubble & placed to one side on top of the handwash unit.
(b) Fit the mounting brackets to the aperture sides ensuring that they are perfectly level
horizontally & vertically with each other. Screw holes are provided on each plate to secure
them, ensure that the screws are of a suitable size (No 10 x 1¼” long minimum). Remove
the four unit fixing bolts & washers from the mounting plates & retain in a safe place. Do
not remove the brass nuts fitted to the bushes on the plates but ensure that they are fully
screwed onto each bush hand tight only.
(c) The unit should not be lifted out of the packing box. Instead, cut down each of the box
corners and lay the sides down flat. Remove the pack containing the keys & retain in a

safe place. Cut away the plastic film around the unit and remove the four polystyrene
support corners. Do not pick up the unit by the fascia panel edges but support it below the
white cabinet.
(d) Stand the unit up on its base & using the key provided unlock the top fascia door panel.
(e) Release the three screws securing the inner metal cover & remove. If more than one unit
is being installed, ensure the original panel is kept with its respective unit.
(f) Move the unit to the aperture and pass the electrical supply cable through the entry hole
on the back of the cabinet (located towards left-hand side).
(g) Lift the unit into the aperture and secure to the mounting plates with the bolts & washers
provided. Hand-tighten the bolts half way into the bushes only at this stage.
(h) Adjust the brass nuts on the bushes by unscrewing them so that they meet the sides of
the cabinet. The nuts must be adjusted evenly each side so that the cabinet is positioned
centrally in the aperture. Once all four points are set, press the unit fully into the aperture
and tighten the four bolts.
4. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION.
WARNING: This appliance must be earthed.
(a) The CME “Classic” is designed for a fixed wire type installation.
(b) The unit should be installed by a qualified electrician in accordance with the current
Nationally Approved Regulations.
(c) Terminate the supply cable into the terminal block positions “L E N” located on the left
side within the cabinet and secure it within the cable clamp. The supply cable must not
come into contact with any other components or wiring within the unit.
(d) Earth bonding should be carried out to comply with the Nationally Approved Regulations.
Connections must be made to the following points: Water supply pipe, Sink waste outlet &
Equipotential earth connection for bonding together multiple units installed, (connection
positioned on back of cabinet below sink).
5. WATER SUPPLY & WASTE CONNECTION.
IMPORTANT! For installations liable to freezing conditions, frost protection & pipe insulation
must be fitted.
(a) Prior to final connection of the water supply to the unit, the pipes must be flushed through
so as to remove any debris & air locks.
Warning: Failure to carry this out may result in damage and failure of the unit.
(b) Complete the water connection to the plastic connector on the unit using the parts in the
supplied kit as required. If sealing compounds/paste are used, they must not be applied
excessively as this may result in a blockage & damage to the water system.
(c) For the waste connection an appropriate trap (not supplied) should be fitted between the
unit sink waste & the main waste pipe. An elbow fitting & adapter is supplied on the sink
waste which is suitable for 1 ¼” pipe. Final connection can then be made to the trap (not
supplied) & the main waste pipe.
6. COMMISSIONING FOR USE.
(a) Open fully the water supply tap & the plastic tap/flow regulator on the unit located in the
upper compartment on the left side. Check the system for any leaks.
(b) Switch “ON” the electrical supply at the spur connection point & then on the unit at the
isolator switch (Positioned on the front left-hand side above the basin). The isolator switch
should illuminate red, do not touch any parts inside the unit that may now be LIVE.
Close & lock the door panel.
(c) The water system temperature should be set first, so refer to the “User & Maintenance
Instructions”, sections 2(b) & 4. Switch OFF the electric whenever you need to adjust
the water flow regulator.
(d) Once the water temperature is set, switch OFF the electrical supply & replace the
internal top cover plate with the three screws & remember to pass the soap tube (& the
priming pad/button on model 45s) over the cover into the soap container compartment.

(e) Place a full soap container (2.5ltr) into the right hand compartment of the top internal
cover. Place the tube into the bottle ensuring it reaches to the bottom & then fit the plastic
bung into the bottle neck. Switch ON the electric supply & prime the soap system by
pressing the priming pad/button in the soap container compartment of model 45s, or front
fascia ‘SOAP’ button on model 41s until the soap is dispensed, (as detailed in “User &
Maintenance Instructions” section 3). Close & lock the door.

HANDWASH MODEL CME_41s & CME_45s.
USER & MAINTENANCE INSTRUCTIONS.
1. INTRODUCTION
(a) Welcome to your “Classic” handwash (model CME). The unit has been designed and
manufactured to a high standard from quality materials If these user instructions are
followed, the unit will give reliable efficient service. If you need any further information or
help, please contact us at the address on the last page of these instructions.
(b) The “Classic” handwash unit dispenses liquid soap, warm water & heated air drying & is
designed to be highly effective in hand washing at low cost.
(c) Your installer will have passed to you this product manual & 1 key for the top door panel.
(d) The unit fascia is manufactured in a granite effect material, which produces finishes
unique to each product. Colour variations may occur from one unit to the next.
2. OPERATING THE UNIT
Check first which model unit you have installed so as to follow these instructions correctly.
The CME_41s model is push button operated and the CME_45s model is infra-red sensor
operated.
The unit is switched “ON” or “OFF” by the isolation switch behind the top door panel or at the
mains switch located near the unit on the wall. If a fault occurs with the unit, then it must be
switched “OFF” until a qualified engineer has repaired the fault.
WARNING:
Unqualified personnel must not remove the internal cover, due to the risk of
electric shock.
For the CME-41s push button operated model follow the instructions below:
For soap dispensing press the hand or foot button marked “SOAP”. Dosage depends
entirely on the number of times the button is pressed. The electric type pump runs for a
pre-set time 0.3 seconds to deliver approximately 5ml of soap. This can only be adjusted
by consulting the manufacturer. The soap button however can be pressed several times
for repeat operations if more soap is required.
For water dispensing press the push button marked “WATER”. The time cycle has been
set to 12 seconds. The setting can be adjusted as detailed on the following page titled
“Time Cycle Adjustments”. The water cycle can be repeated by pressing the button again.
For hand drying, press the hand or foot button marked “AIR. The time cycle will have been
set to 35 seconds and can be adjusted as detailed on the following page “Time Cycle
Adjustments”. The air cycle can be repeated by pressing the button again.
Note: The water & air cycles can be interrupted when in operation. For example, when the
water cycle is running, pressing the air button will stop the water and start the air cycle.
Similarly, pressing the soap button would cancel the water cycle if it were running at the time.
For the CME-45s model, IR sensor operated, follow the instructions below:
When you place your hands into the wash basin an automatic cycle shall commence as per
the sequence now detailed:
Soap dispensing for 0.3 second.
Followed by a delay of 1 second.
Warm Water for 12 seconds.
Followed by a delay of 1 second.
Air drying for 35 seconds.
Followed by a delay of 3 seconds after which another cycle can then be activated.

Note that another cycle shall not start unless your hands or any other item in the sensor
detection zone/range is removed momentarily.
Time Cycle Adjustments.
To adjust the time cycle settings for water and air dispensing, access must be made into the
cabinet behind the unit upper fascia panel, the security key provided is used to remove the
two screws securing the panel. An internal cover plate is mounted behind the upper front
fascia panel. It is recommended that only qualified personnel carry out
inspection/adjustments due to the risk of electric
shock if the appropriate precautions are not
taken. Switch OFF the electrical supply at the
fused spur or mains switch board.
To the left of the internal cover plate, switch OFF
the “Electrical Isolator” to ensure the electrical
supply to the unit remains disconnected. Remove
the inner cover plate by releasing the screws
securing it and then ease it out from the unit.
The handwash will be fitted with one of two
electronic controllers, (TCU041 or TCU100) which
is mounted towards the top inside face of the
handwash housing. The TCU041 controller is
used on units with just soap, water and air
functions, push button operated. The time
settings may be adjusted by following the
adjacent instructions. The TCU100 is fitted to the
CME_45s model, time cycles may be adjusted using the onboard ‘Control Interface module’.
For further details contact Wallgate.
After all adjustments are completed ensure that the internal cover plate is correctly replaced
& that the switch Electrical Isolator is in the ON position (Red light illuminated). Close & lock
the door panel.
3. REPLENISHING THE SOAP
(a) Using the castellated keys provided, open the top door and remove the empty soap
container. Place the soap tubing into the new container of soap ensuring it reaches to the
bottom. Position the container into its compartment. The soap recommended for use in
the unit is a free flowing liquid soap. It is particularly important that the unit is not filled with
creams or gel soaps, which will not dispense properly or may even, cause a blockage. A
range of recommended soaps and their specification are available direct from Wallgate or
your supplier.
(b) To prime the soap press the soap push button several times until soap begins to
consistently dispense from the nozzle. Close & lock the hand wash door.
(c) Soap levels should be checked periodically to maintain efficient operation of the unit.
4. ADJUSTING THE WATER TEMPERATURE
(a) Access is required to the inside of the cabinet so the electrical supply must be
switched OFF before proceeding any further.
(b) Using the castellated key provided, open the top door & then remove the internal cover &
the soap container. The water flow control tap is located to the left of centre at the back of
the cabinet. To increase the temperature of the water turn the tap clockwise and to
decrease the temperature, turn it anti-clockwise. Make small adjustments and then
activate the unit to check the effect. The unit is fitted with a safety flow switch, which will
only operate the water heater when the flow rate is set above 1.2 litres/minute, (Typical
set rate 1.6ltr/min). Replace the internal cover & soap container & close and lock the door

on completion. Note that fluctuations in the set temperature may occur when the ambient
temperature of the supply changes seasonally.
5. MAINTENANCE
(a) Wallgate operates a comprehensive spare parts service through your supplier. Contact
your supplier for all spare part & servicing requirements.
WARNING: The water heater is a vented type and in no circumstances must the
water outlet nozzle be allowed to become blocked or connected to any pipe or tap.
(b) The unit fascia & bowl must be cleaned with non abrasive or abrasive washbowl cleaners,
using standard domestic cleaning products dependant upon the level of soiling.
Proprietary de-scaling agents may be used to remove lime scale from the bowl, waste
trim and the water nozzle.
(c) From a users point of view the most important care items are:
Clean the water spray periodically to remove lime scale.
Clean the soap dispensing nozzle and occasionally wash the soap system through
with warm water.
Check the soap level regularly & only use recommended soaps.
Have the motor brush wear checked periodically by an electrician. Depending on
usage, LOW, per 2 years, high, once a year typically.
(d) Any service repair work must be carried out by a qualified engineer, which during the
warranty period must be an appointed service agent or authorised engineer by your
supplier.
6. WARRANTY.
