When using this machine, observe the following safety instructions to exclude the risk of personal injury or
material damage. Please also observe the special safety instructions in the respective chapters. Where
applicable, follow the legal directives or regulations for the prevention of accidents in relation to the use of
this machine.
When using petrol tools, basic safety precautions, including the following, should always be followed to
reduce the risk of serious personal injury and/or damage to the unit.
GENERAL OPERATION
1. Read this instruction manual carefully in its entirety before attempting to assemble this machine. Read,
understand, and follow all instructions on the machine and in the manual(s) before operation. Keep this
manual in a safe place for future and regular reference and for ordering replacement parts.
2. Be completely familiar with the controls and the proper use of this machine before operating it.
3. This machine is a precision piece of power equipment, not a plaything. Therefore, exercise extreme
caution at all times. This machine has been designed to perform one job: to turn soil and vegetation. Do
not use it for any other purpose.
4. Never allow children under 16 years of age to operate this machine. Children 16 and over should read and
understand the instructions and safe operation practices in this manual and on the machine and should be
trained and always supervised by an adult.
5. Only responsible individuals who are familiar with these rules of safe operation should be allowed to use
this machine.
6. Thoroughly inspect the area where the equipment is to be used. Remove all stones, sticks, wire, bones,
toys and other foreign objects, which could be tripped over.
7. Wear sturdy, rough-soled work shoes. Never operate this machine in bare feet, sandals, slippery or light-
weight (e.g. canvas) shoes.
8. Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts.
9. Never operate without shields, guards or other safety protective devices in place and working.
10. Many injuries occur as a result of the wheelbarrow being pulled or pushed over the foot during a fall
caused by slipping or tripping. Do not hold on to the wheelbarrow if you are falling; release the handles
immediately.
11. Never pull the wheelbarrow back towards you while you are walking. If you must back the wheelbarrow
away from a wall or obstruction, first look down and behind to avoid tripping and then follow these steps:
A. Step back from the wheelbarrow to fully extend your arms.
B. Be sure you are well balanced with sure footing.
C. Pull the wheelbarrow back slowly, no more than halfway towards you.
D. Repeat these steps as needed.
12. Do not operate the wheelbarrow while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
13. Always be sure of your footing. A slip and fall can cause serious personal injury.
14. Operate only in daylight or good artificial light. Walk, never run.
15. Only use parts and accessories made for this machine by the manufacturer. Failure to do so can result in
personal injury.
16. If situations occur which are not covered in this manual, use care and good judgement. Contact your
nearest Approved Service Dealer or ourselves for assistance

SLOPE OPERATION
Slopes are a major factor related to slip and fall accidents, which can result in severe injury. Operation on
slopes requires extra caution. If you feel uneasy on a slope, do not till on it. If the slope is greater than 15
degrees, do not use on it.
Do:
1. Walk across the face of slopes; never up and down. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on
slopes.
2. Watch for holes, ruts, rocks, hidden objects, or bumps which can cause you to slip or trip. Tall grass can
hide obstacles.
3. Always be sure of your footing. A slip and fall can cause serious personal injury. If you feel you are losing
your balance, release the wheelbarrow immediately.
Do Not:
1. Do not use it near drop-offs, ditches or embankments, you could lose your footing or balance.
2. Do not use it on slopes greater than 15 degrees.
3. Do not use it on saturated soil. Unstable footing could cause slipping.
CHILDREN
Tragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children. Children are often attracted
to the wheelbarrow and the activity. They do not understand the dangers. Never assume that children will
remain where you last saw them.
1. Keep children out of the working area and under care of a responsible adult other than the operator.
2. Be alert and stop if a child enters the area.
3. Before and while moving backwards, look behind and down for small children.
4. Use extreme care when approaching blind corners, doorways, shrubs, trees, or other objects that may
obscure your vision of a child who may run into the wheelbarrow.
5. Never allow children under 16 years of age to operate this machine. Children 16 and over should read and
understand the instructions and safe operation practices in this manual and on the machine and be
trained and supervised by an adult.
PERSONAL SAFETY
1. This machine is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or
mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or
instruction concerning use of the machine by a person responsible for their safety.
2. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not use or play with the machine.
3. Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating this machine.
4. Do not use this machine while you are tired, ill or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication. A
moment of inattention while operating this machine can cause you to lose control & may result in series
personal injury.
5. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing & gloves away from
moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts.
SAFE LIFTING
1. Think before lifting/handling. Plan the lift. Where is the load going to be placed? Will help be needed with
the load? Remove obstructions. For a long lift, consider resting the load midway to change grip.
2. Adopt a stable position. Your feet should be apart, with one leg slightly forward to maintain balance. Be
prepared to move your feet during the lift to maintain your stability. Avoid tight clothing or unsuitable
footwear, which may make this difficult.
3. Get a good hold. Ensure you have a good grip of the handles.
4. Start in a good posture. At the start of the lift, slight bending of the back, hips and knees is preferable to
fully flexing the back (stooping) or fully flexing the hips and knees (squatting).
5. Don’t flex the back any further while lifting. This can happen if the legs begin to straighten before starting
to raise the load.
6. Keep the load close. Keep the load close to the body for as long as possible while lifting.
7. Avoid twisting the back or leaning sideways, especially while the back is bent. Shoulders should be kept
level and facing in the same direction as the hips. Turning by moving the feet is better than twisting and
lifting at the same time.
8. Keep your head up when handling. Look ahead, not down, once the load has been held securely.

9. Move smoothly. The load should not be jerked or snatched, this can make it harder to keep control & can
increase the risk of injury.
10. Don’t lift or handle more than can be easily managed. There is a difference between what people can lift
and what they can safely lift. If in doubt, get help.
11. Put down, then adjust. If precise positioning of the load is necessary, put it down first, then push it into
the desired position.

YOUR COMPLETED WHEELBARROW
OPERATION
Wheelbarrows don’t have any moving parts or sharp edges and are easy to use, but they can cause serious
injuries. Anytime you balance a heavy load on a single wheel, you have to pay attention to what you’re doing.
Because there’s no top to a wheelbarrow, you may think you can keep loading it as long as the material
doesn’t fall out, but overloading a wheelbarrow is a sure way to lose control of it. Use the following tips to stay
safe while using a wheelbarrow:
1. Make sure to only put in a wheelbarrow the amount of weight you can physically handle on a hill or when
turning a corner.
2. Make several trips for large loads. Don’t try to carry it all at once.
3. When you raise and lower the handles of a wheelbarrow, treat them like any other heavy load you lift.
Follow proper lifting techniques.
4. Balance the load over the wheel for good control.
5. Don’t move too quickly.
6. Keep a tight grip on the handles.
7. If you lose control of a wheelbarrow, let go of the handles and warn others.
8. Keep wheelbarrow wheels properly lubricated.
CLEANING, MAINTENANCE & STORAGE
WARNING
Damaged tools can fail, causing serious personal injury. Do not use damaged tools. If abnormal noise or
vibration occurs, have the problem corrected before further use.
1. Before each use, inspect the general condition of the wheelbarrow. Check for loose bolts, misalignment or
binding of moving parts, cracked or broken parts & any other condition that may affect its safe operation.
2. After each use, thoroughly clean the wheelbarrow using clean water. Do not use solvents. Then dry.
3. Periodically add a few drops of lubricating multipurpose oil or grease to the wheel bearings.
4. When storing, keep the wheelbarrow in a clean, dry, safe location out of reach of children and other
unauthorised people.
