Patienteninformation aufmerksam zu
lesen. Wir wünschen Ihnen eine schnel-
le, vollkommene Genesung von Ihrer
Knieverletzung und hoffen, dass Sie
bald wieder beschwerdefrei im Alltag
und im Sport sind.
Inhalt
Beschreibung
Die Quantum-Knieorthese ist eine funktionelle,
anatomisch geformte Aluminiumrahmen-Knie-
orthese, die patientenspezifisch angepasst
werden kann. Ihr „Physio-Connect“-Gelenk sorgt
für eine optimale physiologische Bewegungs-
führung des Kniegelenks. Zudem ist die Orthese
zur Nutzung in Süßwasser zugelassen und
somit z.B. für die Wassertherapie geeignet.
Die Variante Quantum-A mit ventraler Führung
am Unterschenkel wird aufgelegt und dorsal
geschlossen. In die Variante Quantum-P mit
dorsaler Führung an der Wade wird einge-
stiegen. Sie sind in zwei Ausstattungslinien
erhältlich:
Quantum-A/-P: herkömmliches Klett-
Gurtsystem.
Quantum-A/-P PRO: Komfortverschlüsse
für vereinfachtes Önen und Schließen und
zusätzliche Gelenkabdeckung zur Vermeidung
von Verschmutzung und Gelenkblockierung.

Die Quantum-A/-P / -A/-P PRO
ist ein Medizinprodukt.
Sicherheit
• Vor der Benutzung ist eine individuelle
Anpassung des Produktes und eine
Einweisung in den Gebrauch durch
einen erfahrenen Orthopädietechniker
entsprechend der ärztlichen Anweisung
erforderlich.
• Falsche Auswahl, Anpassung, Anwen-
dung und/oder mangelhafte Kontrolle
der Passform des Produktes können zu
gesundheitlichen Schäden führen.
• Die Orthese vor jedem Anlegen auf Be-
schädigungen überprüfen (z. B. lockere
Verbindungen, Verschlüsse, Gurte, etc.).
• Bei Textilprodukten ist zu beachten,
dass das Abtrennen des Einnähetiketts
nicht zulässig ist.
• Bei vermuteten Leistungsstörungen
(z. B. dem Gefühl einer nachlassenden
oder unzureichenden Wirkung) muss
unverzüglich der Arzt oder Orthopädie-
techniker aufgesucht werden.
• Alle im Zusammenhang mit dem Produkt
aufgetretenen schwerwiegenden Vor-
kommnisse sind der Wilhelm Julius Teufel
GmbH und der zuständigen Behörde des
Mitgliedstaats, in dem Sie niedergelas-
sen sind, zu melden. „Schwerwiegendes
Vorkommnis“ bezeichnet ein Vorkomm-
nis, das direkt oder indirekt eine der
nachstehenden Folgen hatte, hätte
haben können oder haben könnte:
a) den Tod eines Patienten, Anwenders
oder einer anderen Person,
b) die vorübergehende oder dauerhafte
schwerwiegende Verschlechterung des
Gesundheitszustands eines Patienten,
Anwenders oder anderer Personen,
c) eine schwerwiegende Gefahr für die
öentliche Gesundheit.
• Die Orthese nie auf verletzter Haut tragen.
• Die Orthese muss regelmäßig von einem
Arzt oder Orthopädietechniker auf ihre
Funktion, korrekten Sitz und eventuelle
Beschädigungen überprüft werden. Die
Abstände der Kontrollen sind für jeden
Patienten individuell festzulegen.
• Sollte das Produkt einer unverhältnismäßig
starken Belastung ausgesetzt gewesen
sein, muss es vor der weiteren Verwen-
dung von einem Orthopädietechniker auf
mögliche Schäden überprüft werden.

Lieferumfang Anwendung
Nachfolgend ist die Anwendung der Quantum
Knieorthesen beschrieben. Die Abbildungen
zeigen die Ausführung „Quantum-A PRO“ mit
Schienbeinanlage. Die abweichenden Anpas-
sungsschritte für die anderen Versionen sind
entsprechend beschrieben.
1. Gurte lösen
Quantum A: Lösen Sie alle vier Gurte an
der Rückseite der Orthese.
Bei der Variante A-PRO drücken Sie hier-
zu gleichzeitig die beiden blauen Entrie-
gelungsknöpfe an jeder Seite der Kom-
fort-Verschlüsse. Nehmen Sie dann den
Verschluss von der Orthese ab (Abb. 1).
Quantum P: Lösen Sie vor dem Anlegen
der Orthese alle Gurte.
Bei der Variante P-Pro drücken sie hierzu
gleichzeitig die beiden blauen Entriege-
lungsknöpfe an jeder Seite der Komfort-
Verschlüsse.
Nehmen Sie dann den Verschluss von der
Orthese ab. (Abb. 1).
2. Orthese zum Anlegen vorbereiten
Quantum A/ -A PRO: Legen Sie die Orthese
auf das in 45° gebeugte Knie und positio-
nieren Sie das Gelenk der Orthese mittig
des Kniegelenks.
Quantum P/-P PRO: Steigen Sie vorsichtig
mit dem verletzen Bein in die Orthese und

positionieren Sie das Gelenk der Orthese
mittig des Kniegelenk. Prüfen Sie den Sitz
der vorderen oberen Anlage und die Posi-
tion der unteren Schienbeinführung. Die
Orthese soll flächig und stramm anliegen,
jedoch ist ein zu enger Sitz zu vermeiden.
3. Gelenke der Orthese positionieren
Die Gelenke der Orthese sollen so
positioniert werden, dass sich die
Gelenkmitte auf Höhe der Kniescheibe
und leicht hinter der Beinmittellinie
befindet (Abb. 3a).
Zusätzliche Gelenkpolster ermöglichen
eine optimale Anpassung der Quantum
an die Beinachse (Abb. 3b).
5. Hintere Oberschenkelgurte
einstellen und schließen
Alle Gurte sind mit einem Auleber mit
aufsteigenden Zahlen versehen. Diese
markieren die empfohlene Reihenfolge
beim Schließen der Gurte.
Quantum A/A-PRO: Ziehen Sie zunächst den
unteren, vorderen Gurt (Nr. 1) und danach
den oberen, vorderen Gurt (Nr. 2) leicht zu.
Positionieren Sie anschließend den oberen
hinteren Wadengurt (Nr. 3) über den höchs-
ten Punkt des Wadenbeinmuskels. Dadurch
wird dem Verrutschen der Orthese nach
unten entgegengewirkt. Schließen Sie die
Oberschenkelgurte (Nr. 4 und Nr. 5) und den
unteren Unterschenkelgurt (Nr. 6), sodass die
Orthese fest am Bein sitzt (Abb. 4).
Quantum P/P-PRO: Ziehen Sie zunächst
den unteren vorderen Unterschenkelgurt
(Nr. 1) und danach den oberen hinteren
Oberschenkelgurt (Nr. 2) zu. Anschließend
schließen Sie den hinteren unteren Ober-
schenkelgurt (Nr. 3). Schließen Sie danach den
vorderen oberen Unterschenkelgurt (Nr. 4)
und anschließend den hinteren oberen Unter-
schenkelgurt (Nr. 5). Zum Schluss schließen
Sie den vorderen Oberschenkelgurt (Nr. 6).
Achten Sie darauf, die Gurtung nicht zu fest
anzuziehen, um Einschnürungen mit nega-
tiven Auswirkungen auf die Blutzirkulation
zu verhindern.

Komfort/Hygiene
Tragen Sie die Orthese nicht auf verletzter
Haut. Tragen Sie die Orthese alternativ
über einer Hose oder einem dünnen Textil
(z. B. Leggings).

Nicht bügeln.
Nicht chemisch reinigen.
Lagerung/Entsorgung
Produkt in der Originalverpackung an
einem trockenen Ort auewahren. Vor
Staub, Schmutz und Feuchtigkeit schützen.
Das Produkt enthält keine umweltgefähr-
denden Stoe. Es kann über den Hausmüll
entsorgt werden.

Description
Quantum Knee Orthoses are functional,
anatomically shaped and easily adjustable
knee orthoses with an aluminum frame. The
„Physio-Connect“-Joint has been designed to
perfectly correspond to the natural motion pat-
terns of the knee joint. Quantum Knee Orthoses
are approved for use in fresh water, and can e.g.
be used for hydrotherapy.
To don Quantum-A with a ventral frame on the
lower leg, the orthosis is placed on the leg, and
closed on the dorsal side. The Quantum-P with
a dorsal calf-frame is a „step-through“ brace. It
is available with two dierent feature sets:
Quantum-A/-P: Regular hook-and-loop
strapping system.
Quantum-A/-P PRO: Special quick-release
buckles which allow for easier opening and
closing of the orthosis and added joint cover
which keeps the hinge clean and prevents the
joint from being blocked.

The Quantum-A/-P / - A/-P PRO
is a medical device.
Safety
• Before this device is used, the orthosis
has to be individually adapted to the
patient by an experienced orthopedic
technician and the patient has to be
trained in the orthosis’ use according
to the doctor’s instructions.
• Incorrect selection, adaptation, appli-
cation, and/or failure to monitor the
correct fit of this product may cause
health damage.
• Check orthosis for damage (such as
loose connections, fasteners, belts,
etc.) each time it is put on.
• Do not remove the textile label from
textile products.
• In case you suspect any performan-
ce malfunctions (e.g. an apparent
reduction or lack of effect), immedia-
tely call on your doctor or orthopedic
technician.
• All serious incidents that occur in
connection with this product have
to be reported to the Wilhelm Julius
Teufel GmbH and the competent
authority of the member state in
which you are established. A „serious
incident“ is any incident that caused,
may have caused, or may cause,
directly or indirectly, one of the follo-
wing consequences:
a) the death of a patient, user, or
other
persons
b) temporary or permanent health
deterioration of a patient, user or
other persons
c) a serious public health threat.
• Never wear the orthosis on broken
skin.
• The orthosis must be checked for
proper function, correct fit and poten-
tial damage by a doctor or orthopedic
technician at regular intervals. The
timing of these intervals has to be
defined individually for each patient.
• Should the product have been
subject to disproportionate stress,
it must be checked for potential
damage by an orthopedic technician
before further use.

Scope of Delivery Application
Application and adjustment of the Quantum
Knee Orthoses are described below. The
images show the version Quantum A with
the anterior tibia shell. Diering adjustment
steps for the other versions of the orthosis
will be described where necessary.
1. Open Straps
Quantum A: Open all four straps on the
back of the orthosis.
To do so on the version A-PRO, simulta-
neously push the two blue buttons on
the quick-release buckles.
Then lift the buckles o of the orthosis
(fig. 1).
Quantum P: Open all straps before
donning the orthosis.
On the version P-PRO, simultaneously
push the two blue buttons on the
quick-release buckles.
Then, lift the buckles o of the orthosis
(fig. 1).
2. Prepare Orthosis for Application
Quantum A/A PRO: Place the orthosis
onto the patient‘s leg, with the knee bent
at a 45° angle. Position the joint of the

the center of your knee joint. Check the
position of the anterior thigh shell and the
bottom tibia shell. The orthosis should be
in full contact with the leg, and fit tightly
without being too tight.
3. Position Joints of Orthosis
The joints of the orthosis should
be positioned so the center of the
joint sits at the height of the patella,
slightly behind the midline of the leg
(fig. 3a).
Additional joint pads allow an excellent
positioning of the Quantum to the indi-
vidual knee joint line alignment (fig. 3b).
5. Adjust and Fasten Posterior
Thigh Straps
All straps are marked with stickers which
have numbers on them. The straps of the
orthosis should be closed according to
the numbers on the stickers, in ascending
order, from strap 1 to strap 6.
Quantum A/A-PRO First, lightly fasten
the bottom front strap (Nol. 1), then the
top front strap (No. 2). Then position
the top posterior strap (No. 3) above the
highest point of the calf muscle. This
helps prevent the orthosis from shifting
out of place. Close the thigh straps (No.
4 and No. 5) and the bottom calf strap
(No. 6), so the orthosis securely fits the
patient‘s leg (fig. 4).
Quantum P/P-PRO: First close the bot-
tom anterior lower leg strap (No. 1), then
the top posterior thigh strap (No. 2).
Then close the posterior bottom thigh
strap (No. 3). Next, close the top anterior
lower leg strap (No. 4), and then the top
posterior lower leg strap (No. 5). Finally,
close the anterior thigh strap (No. 6).
Please make sure not to close the
orthosis too tighly so the straps do not
disrupt the blood flow.

Comfort/Hygiene
Do not wear the orthosis on broken
skin. Wear the orthosis over trousers
or thin clothing (e.g. a leggings).

Cleaning/Maintenance
If necessary, clean the orthosis with
a wet cloth. The pads can be hand
washed at 30°C.

Storage/Disposal
Store the product in its original packaging
in a dry place. Protect from dust, dirt and
moisture. This product does not contain
any environmentally hazardous substan-
ces. It can be disposed of with regular
household waste.
