1.1.2. Regarding ATSC
The ATSC Standards document defines a digital television format which replaced (for most consumers in
the United States) the analog NTSC television system on June 12, 2009. It was developed by the
Advanced Television Systems Committee.
The high definition television standards defined by the ATSC produce wide screen (16:9) images up to
1920×1080 pixels in size —more than six times the display resolution of the earlier standard. However, a
host of different image sizes are also supported, so that up to six standard-definition video programs can
be broadcast on a single 6 MHz TV channel.
ATSC signals are designed to use the same 6 MHz bandwidth as NTSC television channels (the
interference requirements of A/53 DTV standards with adjacent NTSC or other DTV channels are very
strict). Once the video and audio signals have been compressed and multiplexed, the transport stream
can be modulated in different ways depending on the method of transmission.
Terrestrial broadcasters use 8VSB modulation that can transfer at a maximum rate of 19.39 Mbit/s,
sufficient to carry several video and audio programs and metadata.
1.1.3. Regarding the GOLDENEAGLE ATSC
The GOLDENEAGLE ATSC augments Audemat’s range of monitoring products: it is a device that can
monitor vital broadcasting parameters for one or several ATSC channels.
It is based on the IP2CHOICE software and hardware layout, which gives it developed Remote Control
capacities via its modular inputs-outputs, and ScriptEasy.
The GOLDENEAGLE ATSC is currently available in several versions:
RF Version:

oEthernet configuration mode
It is recommended that the user configure the network interfaces with static
parameters. Should the unit be set to DHCP, you may lose the ability to access it
on the network.
oStatic Ethernet configuration
Enter the static IP parameters in this window. IP addresses and masks are
essential, gateway is important if the GOLDENEAGLE ATSC is to communicate
outside its own subnet.
oDNS Servers: DNS configuration. Very important if the GOLDENEAGLE ATSC is
to send e-mails using an alpha server name (i.e. smtp.server.com as opposed to
54.32.156.67).
oCurrent network status: displays the present network data.
Note: Remember to click the ‘Update’ button in each section to lock in any changes.
