nAfterunpacking,check ifthe cartonorthe appearanceof thetesterisdamagedor
not.
nCheckif the tester anditsaccessories areintegratedornot.
nPlugtheACadapterintoanappropriateACwalloutlet.Andconnectthetesterwith
ACpoweradaptercable,checkifthe Charge”status LEDwill belit.
nPress Power”keytoswitchonthetester,LCDscreen will displaytheLOGOof
manufacturerandtheembeddedsoftwareversion.After 3seconds,buzzerwill beep
once,thesoftwarewill beloadedcompletelyandthetester isinitializingforabout20
seconds.
nSelectthefunctionwhatyouwanttotest,andlinkthe testcablebetweenthetester
andthe lineunder test.
Aftermakingabovesteps,youcanconfiguresettingsandmakethe
measurements.
3.4 BriefMenuIntroduction
The operatingmenusofADSL2+Testerinclude Settings”, Results”, Storages”and
Others”menu,matchedwiththe Setting”, Result”, Storage”and Other”functional
keysrespectively.Thesefourmenuscanbeswitchedfromone toanotheratanytimeby
pressingthesefour functionalkeys.
PgUp”and PgDn”keysprovidepageupanddownfunctions, CursorMoveableRight
andDown”and CursorMoveableleft andUp”keysprovidecursormovementfunctions,
F1”, F2”, F3”, F4”softkeysareusedtoselecttheparameteroractionsatthe bottomof
LCDwhichmatchedwiththeplacehighlightedbythecursor.
Ineachof displayareasthe fieldcurrentlyabletobechangedismarkedbya Highlight
Cursor”.The menu ofselectionavailableforthe activefieldisdisplayedonsoftkeysonthe
bottomofthe display.The choice fromthe menuismadeusingthekeys situated
immediatelybelowthedisplay.Thehighlightedcursorismovedaroundthedisplayusing
pageandcursorkeys.Whenahighlightedfieldhasmorethan5choicesasoftkeylabeled >>
isprovided.When >> ischosentheremainderofthe menu isrevealed.

theinstrumenttoPCfor further processingincludingfiling,printingandanalyzing,andthe
otheristoupgradethe embeddedsoftwareviaPCtoprotectyourinvestment.

3.5.2 UpgradingtheEmbeddedSoftware
Manufacturerwill launchthelatestversionembeddedsoftwareandhostsoftware
TestManagerProinthewebsiteofourcompanyfor the userstodownload.Makesureto
visitourwebsitefrequentlytoensureyouwill always getthesoftwareoflatestversion.
Forthesoftwareupgradingmethod, pleaserefertotherelevantpartof Communication
with PC”andfollowinstructionsof the TestManagerPro.
Caution:
Whenperformingtheembeddedsoftwareupgrading,inordertopreventthe
instrumentpoweredoff causedbythebatteryexhausted,itisstrongly
recommendedtouse externalACpowersupplytopower the tester.
3.6 RechargeableBatteriesand Charge
Therechargeablebatterieswill typicallypower thetester formorethan2.5hourswiththe
backlightandtestingmodeselected. Thetesteruses5high-performance2300mAHNickel
MetalHydride(NiMH)rechargeablebatteriesplacedinthebatterycasethatmaynotbefully
chargedwhentheuserreceives the tester.Whateverthestateofcharge,use thetesteruntil
the batteryiscompletedexhaustedbeforegivingititsfirstcharge.Thiswillensurebetter
accuracyfromthebatterychargeindicator.

Whenthe batterysuppliedforthistesterhasbeenusedexpiringthecharging

wasteprocessingsystemdetainedinthe tester,theywill harmthetester.The
wastebatteriescontainNickel-MetalHydrideandmustberecycledor
disposedofproperlyatspecialrecyclingstationorhazardouswastecollection

nReplacementofRechargeableBattery
Anewrechargeablebatterycanbechargedanddischargedforabout800~1000 times
beforeitcannotbeusedanymore.Normallythefullychargedbatteriescouldsupportthe
testercontinuous2.5hoursworkingdependinguponthetestsettings.So whenthe
operatingdurationof thebatteryisapparentlyreduced,thebatteriesshouldbereplaced.
Itisstrongrecommendedthatthe rechargeablebatteriesshouldbereplaced
everyoneor twoyears!
TheNiHMrechargebatterymaybecomeinvalidafternousedforalongtime.
Itcanonlybereusedafterreactivation.
nMethodofBatteryReplacement
Ensurethetesterisswitchedoff firstly.Andopentheendcover ofthe testerandslightly
pressthebatterycompartmentlockcarddownward,thebatterycasewill popout.Extract
thebatterycompartmentandunscrewthescrewsonthetopofthecasetoopenandreplace
newbatteries(Becarefulofnotmistakingthe polarityofthebattery).Whenthebattery
compartmenthasbeenloadedagain,slipitbackintothe batterycase frameandpushthe
batterycompartmentinside(Putyour fingersuponthecaseratherthanthebatterycase
lock card),thebatterycaseisinstalledwell whilea KaTa”soundisheard. The battery
replacementiscompletedwhentheendcoverof thetesterismountedagain.
Warning
Wheninstallingthebatterycompartmentbacktothe batterycaseframe,
pleaseensurenottopushoverexerted,whichifnotwill resultinimpairingthe
batterycaseframeor makingthe batteryshrapneldamaged!

Normallythe batterywill befullychargedafter2.5hours.Inexceptionalcircumstances
wherethebatterymayhavebecomedeeplydischarged,achargetimeof24hoursmaybe
required.Notethatthe testercanbeusedwhilethebatteryischarging.Duringrapid
charging, the Charge”LEDindicatorturnson.Whentherapidchargingiscompleted,
chargingautomaticallyturnsintoatricklecharge,the Charge”indicatorturns off.The
testercertainlycanbechargedwhenitispoweredoff.Thechargingindicatorcangivethe
rightdisplay.
Inaddition,thebatterycanberechargedwiththe automobilecharger,atthistimean
automobilecigarettelighter adaptercableisneeded.

nLowBattery”Indication
Whenbeingpoweredbythebattery,thistestercangivetheearlyalarmtolowbattery
voltageandthe LowBattery”indicatorturnson.After beingusedforacoupleof hours,
thebatteryvoltagecontinuestodroptoalowlevel,andthe testerwillautomatically
performprotectiveshutdown.Whenthe LowBattery”indicatorturnson,the external
power supplyisneededtosupportthe testerworkingwhilethebatteryischarging.
3.7 PowerManagement
Thistesterprovidesautomaticpower-offfunction.When thetesterisnotundertest-started
statusandthereisnokeystrokein5minutes,thistesterwill beturnedoff automatically.
Thisfunctioncaneffectivelypreventthetesterfrombeingaccidentallyturnedonandthe
batteryfrombeingexhaustedduringthetransport.Thisfunctioncanbesetto ON or OFF in
Others”menu.
The LCD backlightcanbeturnedonbypressingthe Backlight”key,andbeautomatically
turnedoffin30seconds.Thisfunctioncanbesetto ON or OFF in Others”menu.Whenset
as OFF,pressthe Backlight”keytoturnonthe backlight,andpressthe Backlight”key
againtoturnoff thebacklight.
