1. Critical Components Information
Components having special characteristics are marked Z
and must be replaced with parts having specifications equal
to those originally installed.
2. Leakage Current Measurement (For 120V Models Only)
When service has been completed, it is imperative to verify
that all exposed conductive surfaces are properly insulated
from supply circuits.
●Meter impedance should be equivalent to 1500 ohm shunted
by 0.15µF.
●Leakage current must not exceed 0.5mA.

qINPUT B (D-Sub 15 pin)
This is the input connector for signals (RGB/YPBPR/YCBCR)
from a component video or RGB source. Use a D-Sub
monitor cable when connecting another component to the
DPX-1000 through this connector.
wD4VIDEO (D connector)
This connector receives video signals from the D connec-
tor of otherA/V components. It is compatible with the D1—
D4 formats. (This connector is designed for the Japanese
D format only.)
e— uINPUT A (BNC jacks)
These are input jacks for signals from component video or
RGB sources. Component signals from A/V equipment
should be connected to ports e— t, and RGB signals
from Computer equipment to ports e— u. Use a BNC
cable when connecting other components to the DPX-1000
through these jacks.
eG/Y (G, or luminance signal)
rB/PB/CB(B, or color difference signal)
tR/PR/CR(R, or color difference signal)
yHD/SYNC (horizontal sync signal, composite sync signal)
uVD (vertical sync signal)
iS-VIDEO (Mini DIN jack)
This jack receives S VIDEO signals from the S-VIDEO
output jack of other A/V components. Use an S VIDEO
cable when connecting other components to the DPX-1000
through this jack.
oVIDEO (Pin jack)
This jack receives composite signals from jacks of otherA/
V components. Use a video pin cable when connecting other
components to the DPX-1000 through this jack.
!0 AC inlet
!1 DVI (DVI jack)
This jack receives DVI signals from computer equipment
or DVI signals from A/V equipments.
!2 REMOTE IN/OUT jack
Connect the remote control to the IN jack when using it
through a cable. Codes input through the IN jack will be
output directly through the OUT jack.
!3 RS-232C (D-sub 9 pin)
This jack is used for factory testing.
!4 TRIGGER OUT
This jack outputs control signals to external components.
A potential of 12V/Maximum 200 mA is provided when
the DPX-1000 is projecting.

qTransmit indicator
This indicator will light up when the unit is sending infra-
red signals to the main unit.
wAUTO button
Pressing this button will automatically adjust the unit to
the best settings for projection by retuning the frequency
of the projection to that of the source component.
eV. POS button
Switches on and off the adjustment mode for the vertical
positioning of the entire image.
rZOOM button
Switches on and off the size adjustment mode for the im-
age being projected.
tIRIS button
Switches on and off the lens iris diaphragm change mode.
yESCAPE button
Press this button to exit from a sub-menu.
uCursor buttons
Use the h, g, –, + buttons to move the cursor within the
interface.
iASPECT button
Selects the display aspect of the projection image. Press
the button to display the aspect presently being used. Press-
ing the button again within 2 seconds will switch the unit
to the next aspect mode.
Buttons with identical names to those on the main unit per-
form identical functions. To use the remote, point it at the
remote control sensor on the front or back of the unit from
a distance of no more than 7 m (23 feet).




oSTILL button
Stops a moving image to display a still of the desired im-
age. Press STILL again to cancel this function.
!0 INPUT area
Directly selects the input jack.
!1 MEMORY area
Calls up stored video memory directly.
!2 RESET button
Press this button to reset all parameters altered in the menu
to their default factory settings.
!3 button
Switches the unit between Standby and On (operational)
modes.
!4 FOCUS button
Switches on and off the focus adjustment mode for the
image being projected.
!5 PATT (PATTERN) button
Switches the built-in test pattern display on and off.
!6 MENU button
Press this button to display the general settings and adjust-
ments menu.
!7 (Enter) button
Use this button to set values and enter into submenus when
the menu is being displayed. Pressing the button when the
menu is not being displayed will call up the in-line menu.
!8 INPUT button
Press this button to display the input source and input sig-
nal selection menu.
!9 LIGHT switch
Pressing this switch will light up the often used w, y, i,
!3, !6, !8 buttons. The lights will switch off if no opera-
tion is performed within 10 seconds.
@0 HIDE button
Press this button to temporarily halt projection of the im-
age being displayed. Press the HIDE button once more to
cancel this function.
@1 Remote control code switch
This remote control will work when it has the same code as
that set on the menu. The default setting on the menu is ID-1.
@2 Remote control cable jack
Use this jack to connect the remote control to the main unit
with a cable.

There are 5 indicators on the main unit that display the
operating status of the DPX-1000.
When any of these indicator is found flashing, refer to
Troubleshooting section to check for the measure to be
taken.
 




qSTANDBY/ON
(There is also an LED on the front panel of the
main unit.)

Steady orange Standby mode
Blinking green Startup mode
Steady green Operating
Blinking orange Lamp cooling prior to going into
Standby mode
Blinking red or red One of the LAMP/COVER/TEMP/FAN
and orange lights is also red.
Consult a YAMAHA dealer or service
center if this occurs.
wLAMP
Off Normal
Blinking orange Lamp usage has exceeded 2000 hours.
Steady red The lamp has burnt out.
eCOVER
Off Normal
Steady red Either the lamp cover or the filter cover
is not correctly attached.
rTEMP
Off Normal
Steady red Either the internal temperature of the
unit or the temperature of the lamp is
abnormally high.
tFAN
Off Normal
Steady red The cooling fan is not working properly.

■MAINTENANCE
●Regular care
Be sure to disconnect the power cable prior to doing
any maintenance.
<MAIN UNIT>
Wipe with a soft cloth. Use a damp cloth with a mild
detergent and then wipe with a dry cloth again if the unit
is heavily soiled. Do not use strong solvents such as
thinner or alcohol as they may damage the case of this
unit.
<LENS>
Use commercially available blowers or lens tissue to
remove any dirt from the lens.
<FILTER>
If dust is allowed to accumulate on the ventilation port
filter, the internal temperature of the unit will rise which
may cause damage to the unit. Clean the filter
approximately once every 200 hours. Remove the
power cable from the power outlet, and remove dust
from the filter with a vacuum cleaner.

●Filter replacement
Replace the filter when it becomes difficult to remove
dust from it.
1. Turn off the power and disconnect the power cable
from this unit.
2. Carefully place the unit upside down on a soft cloth
to prevent scratching.
3. Press the filter hook on the underside of the main
unit to remove the filter.


コードを抜き、1時間後ランプが充分冷えてから行なってくだ

•指定のネジ以外は外さないでください。
The lamp used as a light source in this unit is a consumable
and will gradually lose its brightness during the course of use.
It is advisable to replace the lamp when running time has
exceeded 2000 hours.
You can view the current lamp running time in <INITIAL>
on the menu. The LAMP warning indicator will blink when
running time exceeds 2000 hours.
There will also be a message displayed on the screen.In this
case, follow the instructions below to replace the lamp
cartridge. Be sure to use the replacement lamp cartridge PJL
327. Other lamp cartridges are not suitable for use in this
unit.
•Before starting to replace the lamp cartridge, turn off
the power, disconnect the power cable after the fan has
completely stopped and wait at least one hour for the
lamp to cool down.
•Do not remove any other screws than those specified in
the following steps.
1. Loosen the Lamp Cover Ass'y Screws.
*These screws can only be loosened but not removed.

•Be sure to use the replacement lamp
cartridge PJL327. Other lamp cartridges are
not suitable for use in this unit.

3. Loosen the screws of the lamp cartridge.
*These screws can only be loosened but not removed.
•To prevent any possible accident,
avoid lamp replacement with the
unit mounted to the ceiling as much
as possible.
•When the lamp must be replaced
with the unit mounted to the ceil-
ing, use full care so that the unit will
not come off and the cover or lamp
will not drop.
•After replacing the lamp, check to
make sure again that the unit is in-
stalled to the ceiling mount bracket
properly and securely.
4. Grip the handle and pull the lamp cartridge to
remove it.
5. Insert the new lamp cartridge by reversing the above
steps and tighten the screws to fix it into place.
6. Replace the Lamp Cover Ass'y and secure it with the
screws.
The lamp will not turn on if the cover is not securely
fastened. Take care to attach it firmly in place.
7. Connect the unit to the power outlet, turn the unit on
and reset “LAMP RUNNING TIME”on the <INITIAL>
section in the menu.

■DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURES
Caution:
●To prevent electrostatic breakdown,be sure to ground
your body and work bench.(Refer to " Grounding for
electrostatic breakdown prevention" on p.2.)
●When disassembling the unit, use care not to
allow dust, dirt or any other contaminant to get on
disassembled parts. Especially avoid, leaving them
in the disassembled state for a long time.

b. Hold the handle, pull out the Lamp Cartridge and it can

3. Removal of Upper Cover Unit
a. Remove 2 screws marked [e] (bind head tapping screw
4 x 16). (Fig. 5)
b. Remove 2 screws marked [r] (bind head tapping screw
4 x 12) and 1 screw marked [t] (bind head B-TITE
screws 3 x 8) (Fig.6)
c. Spread soft cloth and place this unit upside down on it.
Remove 7 screws marked [y] (bind head P-TITE screw
3 x 16). (Fig. 7)
* The screws to be removed are marked with an arrow
( ➡ ).
d. Remove 1 screw marked [u] (pan head screw 4 x 8
with washer). (Fig. 7)
* If not removing the optical engine unit, it is not neces-
sary to remove this screw.

e. Turn this unit again to set it upside up.
f. Put soft cloth into the gap between the front ring and the
upper cover to protect the front ring against damage.
