And now you’re ready to ride! Well, almost. First you have to
uncrate this machine, of course. Do it properly and you’ll be
able to use the YT BikeBox again, for transporting your YT or
to send it in for a service. And setting it up? With this manual
easier than you might think.
You’ve guessed it, a manual is just so much more than drifting
on your rear wheel. This one is a step-by-step guide for setting
up and maintaining your ride. For both involve technical knowl-
edge,aswellascraftsmanship.That’swhywe’lltalkyouthrough
all basic settings and maintenance recommendations for your
YT: Follow the instructions and everything will run smoothly.
Needless to say, that this manual is not meant to provide the
knowledge or skills required for professional bike assembly
and it won’t enable you to start building a bike from single
pieces or repairing crucial equipment. But you don’t have to
be MacGyver either.
Together we’ll get the job done!
You don’t feel ready to carry out set-up, maintenance and

UNBOX YOUR BIKE
Cut the packing straps with a box cutter or a
wire cutter. Unlock the 4 locking rings by turn-
ing them in the counter-clockwise direction (in
the “open lock” direction), then pull them out
towards you and place them to the side.
Pull the wheels upwards out of the box and
place them to the side.
Pull the cover of the BikeBox upwards using
the handles.
Remove the top box.
Place the frame on the front and rear axle
stands. Make sure the bike is stable.
TIP: keep the box and the packing
materials for potential future
shipments of your bike.

HANDLEBAR ASSEMBLY
Remove the cable ties using a wire cutter.
Remove the stem screws and put them aside
(Allen key 4 mm).
Grease the threads of the screws and put
them in the handlebar clamps.
Attach the clamps to the stem (Allen key
4 mm). Please make sure the handlebar
clamps are aligned correctly.
Start with the lowermost bolts, torqueing
down the bottom part of the stem clamps ac-
cording to the manufacturer’s specications.
Take care not to leave a gap here (zero gap).
Only then should you secure the handlebar
with the upper bolts as well.
Renthal Apex:
Steerer tube screws // 5 Nm
Handlebar clamp screws // 5 Nm
Make sure the clamp gap of the upper screws
is even and the handlebar is centered and
inserted correctly. The adjustment lines will
help you with this. The torque of the screws
should t the handlebar and / or stem manu-
facturer's guidelines.

Remove the cable ties using a wire cutter.

(T25 Torx).
Install the handlebar. Mount the handlebar to
the stem.
Start with the uppermost bolts, torqueing
down the top part of the stem clamps ac-
cording to the manufacturer’s specications.

with the lower bolts as well.
Make sure that the clamp gaps under the low-
er stem bolts are even, and that the handlebar
is correctly centered and aligned in the stem

Remove the handlebar clamp on the stem by
removing all screws (Allen key 4 mm ).
Install the handlebar. Mount the handlebar to
the stem (Allen wrench 4 mm).
Start with the uppermost bolts, torqueing
down the top part of the stem clamps ac-
cording to the manufacturer’s specications.
Take care not to leave a gap here (zero gap).
Only then should you secure the handlebar
with the lower bolts as well.
Raceface Aeffect:
Steerer tube screws // 8 Nm
Handlebar clamp screws
at the top // 4 Nm
underneath // 6 Nm
Make sure that the clamp gaps under the low-
er stem bolts are even, and that the handlebar

Make sure that the bike is properly positioned
on the rear axle stand.
Carefully remove the cable tie with a wire cut-
ter. Then remove the bubble wrap as well as
the protective foam from the rear derailleur.
Screw the derailleur to the derailleur hanger
(5 mm allen key).
Use the torque wrench to properly fasten the
derailleur bolt. Make sure that the tab of the
derailleurs rests against the corresponding
tab on the derailleur hanger. Hold the derail-
leur rmly in position with your other hand to
avoid cross-threading and to make sure no
gap is left.

Make sure that the bike is properly positioned

it yet in order to be able to align the derailleur
properly in the next step (5 mm Allen key).

Rear derailleur screw // 8 – 10 Nm
Use the torque wrench to tighten the derail-
leur bolt. Make sure that the derailleur tab sits
against the corresponding tab on the derail-
leur hanger. Hold the derailleur in place with
your second hand to avoid it rotating out of
position and leaving a gap between the tabs.
Connect the Di2 cable to the derailleur.

REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLY
Remove the packing materials from both
wheels and place the wheels within easy
reach.
Unscrew the quick release rear axle and re-
move it together with the rear axle stand.
Remove the transport spacer from the rear
brake caliper and store it for future transport
needs.

Tighten the axle by hand to approximately
10 – 15 Nm of torque.
Push the axle in as far as it will go, then begin
to fasten it by turning the lever in the clock-
wise direction.
Pivot the derailleur towards the rear and place
the wheel in the frame, the built-in frame
guides will help you position the wheel cor-
rectly. Make sure to place the chain on the
smallest cog.
REAR WHEEL ASSEMBLY
By pulling the lever outwards you can adjust
its position. Align the lever handle in the for-
ward direction along the seatstay to minimize
the risk of damage to the lever. Place the
clutch lever (see picture 1) back in the “On”
position to engage the clutch.
Move the clutch lever to the “Off” position as
indicated in the illustration. The “On” position
engages the clutch which makes it harder to
handle the chain..

FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY
PREPARING
Unscrew the front axle and remove it together
with the front axle stand.
Remove the transport spacer from the front
brake caliper and store it for future transport
needs.
Remove the packing materials from both
wheels and place the wheels within easy
reach.

Place the front wheel in the fork. Take care
when inserting the brake rotor in the caliper
to avoid causing damage. Lightly grease the
front axle.
On FOX forks, the axle should be inserted
from the non-drive side, whereas on RockSh-
ox forks it should be inserted from the drive
side. Insert the lightly greased axle as far as
it will go, then secure it by rotating it in the
clockwise direction.
FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY
Tighten the axle by hand until it sits parallel to
the fork, in order to properly secure the wheel.
The axle is delivered already adjusted. Once
the lever is tight and parallel to the stanchion,
the wheel is secure. Please also observe the
manufacturer’s advice!
FOX / ROCKSHOX
TIP! Please do not inflate the tires beyond
the maximum pressure as indicated on the
tire. The optimal tire pressure depends on
the rider’s weight, the terrain, and personal
preferences. If you have further questions

Too low tire pressure leads to:
• lack of control
• risk of damage to tires, tubes, and rims
• sudden tire pressure loss
Too high tire pressure leads to:
• significantly less grip
• lack of comfort
• sudden tire pressure loss

Unscrew the brake clamp bolts (Torx T25).
Remove the clips on the brake and shifter
cables.
Inverse the brakes so that the front brake is
on the right-hand side and the rear brake on
the left.
Attach both brake levers to the handlebar by
using the brake lever clamps.
Torque the brake clamp bolts to spec
(5 – 6 Nm).
Use an allen key to install the pedal in the
crankarm. Grease the threads of the pedal to
ensure it can function as intended (including
future removal). Note that there is a left- and
right-hand side pedal.
The pedal on the non-drive side is left-threaded
and should be tightened in the counter-clock-
wise direction.

Air sprung forks and shocks must abso-
lutely be adjusted to the correct air pres-
sure before use. For that reason we have
included a shock pump with your new YT
bike. You can learn about adjusting your
suspension’s air pressure in the manufac-
turer’s manual.
SUSPENSION ELEMENT
ATTENTION! Do not ride your bike
with too little or too much air pressu-
re, as this may lead to fork or shock
damage.
You’ll nd more precise instructions in
the included manufacturer’s manual.
Basic Settings
The weight of the rider and his position
on the bicycle determine the adjustment
criteria for the rear shock and suspension
fork. When sitting on the bike, the suspen-
sion will compress to a certain degree –
the so-called ″sag″. The ″sag value″ that cor-
responds to your riding style is best deter-
mined with a few test rides. Test rides and
personal preferences will also determine
the settings of the compression and re-
bound speeds of the suspension elements.
8. Loosen and remove the shock bolt from the
rear shock mount with a 5 mm allen key.
Remove the Flip Chip, flip it to the desired po-
sition (Low or High is indicated on the chip)
and put it back in. Then screw the damper bolt
back in. (10 – 12 Nm).
SETUP FLIP CHIP
The low position gives you a more aggres-
sive headtube angle, more BB drop and
more stability – perfect for fast and rough
downhill sections.
The high position provides a steeper head-
tube angle, so you can crush the uphills and
snap around tight turns with ease.

SEAT POST
TIP! How to set the correct saddle height: Sit
on the saddle, place your heel on the pedal
and rotate the crank to the lowest positi-
on. Your leg should be fully straight in this
situation.
Observe the minimum insertion depth of the
dropper post. You can nd additional infor-
mation in the manufacturer’s manual.
To remove and replace the dropper post you
must remove the battery and release the ca-
ble clamp in the downtube. The cable must
then be re-positioned properly and the cable
clamp secured again.
Failure to do so may cause damage to the
cable routing of the seat post.

We added a rubber seal for the YT Postman
dropper post to your ToolBox. Slide it onto the
dropper post right above the clamp and tight-
en the bolt to keep the dirt out.

The battery is held in place in the downtube
with a bolt both at the top and the bottom of
the battery.
Remove the battery in parallel to the down-
tube. Installing the battery is done in the
reverse order to the removal: First place the
battery in the downtube, then insert both bolts
and lightly screw them in. Note: only now can
you tighten the bolts. Always tighten the bot-
tom bolt rst!
Use a 5 mm allen key to loosen the battery
bolts. Do not remove the bolts yet.
Hold the battery with one hand while you re-
move the two bolts. This way you avoid hav-
ing the battery fall out of the frame. Place the
two bolts to the side.
ATTENTION! The battery must not
be allowed to rotate while it is still
attached with only one bolt in the
frame. Always remove both bolts
before pulling out the battery. Oth-
erwise you may cause damage both
to the battery and to the frame.

CHARGING THE BATTERY
WHILE INSTALLED IN BIKE
Open the seal underneath the downtube. Insert the plug of the charger all the way into
the charging port of the battery. The correct
orientation is indicated by a pin on the plug,
which prohibits wrongful insertion.
ATTENTION! Fully charge the
battery every three months, even
if the bike is not being used.
Make sure to close the cover after charging
the battery, to prevent water ingress and to
prolong the service life of your battery.
